The colourful table cloths and breeze off the bay make for a very nice setting. The wait staff is very gracious and tries as hard to speak English as we do to speak Spanish. We feel welcome. We enjoyed a frozen margarita, a mojito, and a refreshing chelada; all were delish! We shared a plate of oysters a la diablo, which were not my favourite. Other styles of the oysters are more complementary while the diablo overpowered the delicate shellfish. The filet fish was tender and delectable with a small mound of fried dried shredded Chile pepper that had a sweet aftertaste. It was served with rice, macaroni salad, and a luscious mixed salad. The seafood torta stole the day; we all took a taste and decided we'd get that next time. It came with a mixed salad and something else, maybe... we were in love with this egg pancake thick with shrimp, fish, and other seafood delectibles. Last time I was crazy about the sea-and-land kebabs and almost got them again, but decided on the alhambres instead, also the sea-and-land style. Oh My Goodness! Quickly sautéed with diced onions and sweet peppers, it was the bomb! I ate it with tortilla chips and needed nothing else. And there were leftovers that lasted less than a few minutes once I got home and my husband smelled them. This place is always high on my list when visiting Chetumal and a place I love to take friends.

My daughter decided she didn't want to fish, so we spent the day at the beach and restaurant instead. There is an "all inclusive" option where you have access to the beach, water toys, and open bar and AYCE. They cited me $50/adults and $25/kid. However, as we had already paid for the fishing trip and therefore our lunch, and I knew we'd only be at the beach, I opted to pay a la carte for whatever drinks and snacks we consumed, and they agreed to let us use a couple shaded beach chairs. The sand is white, and the water is clear. You can walk all the way to the waterway without the water going above your waist. It's a nice beach. The drinks we received were icy cold, and they served up the best guacamole I've had. Service was attentive, and they are truly bilingual. Also, when my son caught 9 fish, they fried them all up and served them to us with rice and salad. That was part of the Fish2Dish tour that we booked. The fish was delicious -- the batter they use is light and just the right amount of salty. My kids don't usually agree to eat fish, not even fried fish, but they ate up all of this fish. Is there anything better than freshly caught fish served up on a beach???

Even so close to the road, the dining area was very pleasant. And we were able to watch the end of a World Cup football match! Bonus! The food was outstanding quality both times. My husband is a sucker for stuffed fish fillet. This one is drenched in butter and cheese is a good way and served with tasty rice and steamed veg. I had the grilled pork chops with baked potato and steamed veg. The pork chops are thinner than in the US, but oh so perfectly seasoned and tender. The best parts of the meal were the side of guacamole: chunky, creamy, delicious and the corn tortillas: made by an angel, delicate and light, perfect (angel photo included). The best part of the experience is the service. Both times we were welcomed, spoken to in a friendly way, and made to feel at home. We speak almost no Spanish and they speak no English, but we were compatriots for an afternoon.
