Me and a friend went because I live in the neighborhood when we walked in, he wanted to leave cause it has a scent like dirty rag smell he said. Also they serve refried beans but I think they red not pinto . We were disappointed that this place don't serve margaritas or any liquor cause they say it's Christian, but Jesus drank so I don't know what the problem is , it is also HOT not cool enough for our comfort, tables was sticky and they kinda tight with their chips they serve very little to us the food was not that good and took like 25 minutes to bring , staff was nice owner is on floor serving and interacting with customers, however we won't be back. read more

Based on the food- 4 stars. Definitely delicious and a great find on Hwy 6! I also enjoy the fact that it's a cozy restaurant on the inside and the servers are very sweet and accommodating. Wow! We were around the area this restaurant is located and the Pupusas revueltas were amazing! We usually travel all the way to the South east side from Cypress for some good Pupusas but we have found a new spot! The restaurant is so clean and nice and the staff is super Friendly! The good: The lemon chicken, which sounds kind of regular and boring but is one of the best flavored chicken breasts that I've had, very strong and robust with a nice texture. Also accompanied are some perfectly made plantains. The woman who brought me the food was very accommodating and friendly, despite being very limited in her English, and frequently offered to refill the salsa as well as the chips. The bad: I'm still not completely clear what everything is on the menu, and I would love to know exactly what they are, a few more pictures would be helpful, and I even know Spanish. The interior of the restaurant could better reflect the high quality of the food, although it isn't too bad. For example, big screen televisions are better suited to bars, high end fast food restaurants or extremely casual places with really cheap food. They're a little out of place in a sit down restaurant where you're waited on. But these are minor complaints. Overall: With great food at reasonable prices, this restaurant is an excellent choice. The Salvadoran woman who brought my food was cheerful and pleasantly courteous. The pros well outweigh the cons, and I had to reach to find some cons. The popusas were just ok, not anything special. I have gone to other places and they have had better taste. They do accept all major credit cards which is nice and they have coke products. The chips and salsa are ok. The restrooms were also clean. The restaurant is not super big but it can accommodate a large party. Had a wonderful brunch here today. Service was beyond perfect: greeted with a smile and seated wherever we wanted. They serve breakfast all day, so we combined breakfast with some lunch. Their breakfast tacos were flour with bacon, egg and cheese--3 for $5. The huevos rancheros were very good. The beans are pureed and smooth. The rice tasted perfect. I also had beef enchiladas which were made with beef skirt steak slices instead of the ground beef I expected! Excellent! The red sauce was good with lots of cheese. The server came over many times to refill coffee and water and asking us how we were enjoying each item. I can't fault the attentiveness! I moved from Houston 2 years ago to San Antonio where it's next to impossible to find a restaurant with authentic pupusas. Tried this place today while I'm home visiting for Mother's Day and it was a great decision. The pupusas were made fresh, the salsa was freshly made and the agua Fresca de piña was amazing. This is one of our go to places in the area. I have no idea what is in the refried beans, but they are some of the best I have ever head! And their meal ticket really is those papusas (sp?)! So dang good. It is truly a mom and pop shop. I took off a star for no margaritas/alcohol and the hours are a bit restrictive. But then again, they open much earlier than I like to get up. I think they should add pictures to their menu for people like me who aren't as familiar with the dishes being served. They should also consider expanding to do catering. The owner is from Monterrey, Mexico and his wife is from Salvador. That's why El Sol serves dishes from both places. The owner is very friendly and generous.
