United Methodist Church of Sumner - Children's message during Sunday morning worship

The United Methodist Church in Sumner is probably the most "real" and down-to-earth church I've…read moreever been to in the area. No frills, no lights and fog machines, no flashy worship band, just good old church the way it used to be. For starters the church is beautiful, from the 1920s with a great sounding pipe organ. Traditional, yet simple worship - sing a hymn, message for the kids before they go to Sunday School, read the scriptures, thoughtful sermon, prayer time, sing another hymn and done, out the door. I just wish they did communion every Sunday, not just once a month, but hey, it's just how they do things. Pastor Pam is a great theologian. She knows her bible, and is a great preacher. They also have a great children's ministry with Sunday School and Messy Church. If you have young children, Messy Church is an awesome experience and good way to do church for young families. Definitely recommend this church. Great people.

This review is in regard to their wedding services, not the church in general…read more This church had the PERFECT look that we envisioned: historical, traditional, quaint, not too big/small. It was the only church i looked at in person, and knew in an instant that it was the one for us. You don't have to be a member of the church to use the facility. Although I didn't look around too much at other churches in the area, the price seemed extremely fair to me. There is a huge bridal suite (complete with a fireplace) for the bride/bridesmaids to get ready in and another smaller room downstairs for the groom/groomsmen. We were able to decorate the night before the wedding and also held our rehearsal there. Debbi was AWESEOME! She is the wedding coordinator at the church, and from day one she helped us with everything! She gave us decoration ideas, helped me with our wedding party lineup, answered my 100s of emails (usually in just a few hours). I'm a perfectionist and a worrier (great combo huh) and she helped calm all of my worries. She knew the answer to everything and our ceremony went off without a single hitch! We got tons of comments about how gorgeous the church is and how beautiful everything was!

Mass should never be a popularity contest, gossip, politics or social pressure…read more What I found about this church, neither of those things apply. What was clear to me, is their objective and understanding of what comes first is, the congregation, Catholic dogma, and spirituality. I'd like to share my first mass experience. My sisters, who are deeply religious and devout had come to visit and wanted to attend Sunday mass at the nearby town which I discouraged. We went instead to St Andrew. As soon as we parked our cars, we noticed that there was an uplifting atmosphere of joy. The children were laughing and talking about saints, breakfast at home after mass, and the priest, whom they loved. It was a pleasure to see this type of interaction and love for their church. When we entered, my niece slid next to me and observed the mass with a sense of jubilation and curiosity that I had never seen before in her. And, before the mass ended, I noticed her eyes filled with tears as they flowed over and down her cheeks. It was the first time I had ever seen anyone so filled with a reference to a mass and God. Would I recommend this church to anyone? YES!! YES! YES! Also may I add, CHILDREN should come first always. A church fails its congregation when they demand that children be left at home so they can have quiet at mass. Please remember in "Matthew 19:14: Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

OK, I was looking at the reviews and I think a lot of people are leaving negative reviews because…read moreof their personal bias or what they think at church ought to be but the one thing that you need to look for in any church is do they believe the Bible when I first started this in this church in 2017 pastor came on and showed us his Rolex and talked about his speedboat and I thought oh my goodness I am in the wrong place but then he held up the Bible and said you gotta get into this and you gotta get it into you this breathe life into you. He held up the Bible. He said this is it not me so if you're looking for a church you want to church where the pastor says this Bible is it I'm not it K number one number two they are heavily focused towards the youth pasture point is that he's gonna reach a generation that doesn't need saved and so they started the school if you got a child get him into the school system in motion church from kindergarten to college inside the church. You're gonna get solid education so there's that the number of people complain about the church and I think it's because they're used to small Mom and Pop organizations 25 to 100 people where everybody knows everybody else and that's not this church. This is a 5000 member church and so if you're not getting what you want out of it it's because you're not putting enough into it for you to get what you want out of it. there's all sorts of ways to get involved with this church and one person said oh I never got a call back well that's not the church's fault. this is a hospital for the soul and if you're not getting the help you need then you need to push a little harder for the help if you're looking for a phone call then you keep calling until you get it so 5000 people organization you're not gonna have anybody hold your hand in the beginning, but they do have many small groups you can join a small group and then you can have a relationship with other Christians that share like-minded things as you, but you have to put out the effort to get into the group and if at first you not succeed, you try again it's a 5000 member church they have three campuses they've got schools a school for kindergartners high schoolers and colleges and college students big deal. It's a big deal you don't just walk in and get to know everybody pastor is not gonna stop everything he's doing to come and shake your hand. Tell you hello that's not how it's done. You can't do it in an organization. This big delegation has to be a priority now below. I just got this in the mail from Pastor Dave Naron and I hope he doesn't mind me sharing it. I'm not gonna ask him. I think it's speaks clearly to those people who were wondering what kind of a church this is. This is a church where you can come to cultivate your relationship with God and this is just what's happening starting tomorrow Dear Motion Family, We are just hours away from stepping into something powerful together. Tomorrow morning at 6AM at our Puyallup campus, we begin our 5 days of prayer and fasting--and there is a real sense of expectation in my heart for what God is about to do in us and through us. This isn't just a moment... it's a movement. As we come together, we're believing for: · Unity -- that we would be drawn closer together as a church family · Renewal -- that God would refresh, restore, and reignite passion in every one of us · Challenge -- that we would be stretched, refined, and drawn closer in our daily walk with Jesus There is something powerful that happens when a group of believers set aside comfort and routine to seek God with intentionality. Scripture shows us that when people fast and pray together, heaven responds in ways that go beyond what we could manufacture on our own. We want to encourage you--come even if it's just for 15 minutes. This is about us showing up together as a church family, making space for God, and seeking Him in unity. So come expectant. Come hungry--not just physically, but spiritually. Come ready to encounter God. Whether this is your first time fasting or something you've done before, we are in this together. Let's lean in fully and watch what God does both individually and corporately. We'll see you at 6AM. With faith and expectation, Pastor Dave There's rich people in poor people here you're probably not gonna get along with everyone. That's how the world works. Just come and set your judgment aside for a few months then you'll be able to make a educated decision. . If the rich people go there, there's actually a pretty good chance you're gonna be in the right spot. They didn't get rich by being stupid.

I found Jesus and life long community here. Pastor Roger, Pastor Phil and Pastor Spencer are…read moreauthentic, Biblically grounded, and compassionate leaders of this church.
