I went to Vivi's for the first time about 10 years ago and haven't stopped thinking about it since…read more Unfortunately, it's pretty far and out of the way from where I live, but every time I pass through the area and am hungry for Vietnamese food, I'm hungry for Vivi's. Over the years, I've brought friends and family here, talking it up enough that they're willing to make the journey with me. I always recommend the tofu vermicelli bowl. The fact that my tofu-skeptical father sang its praises after I made him try it is a testament to its flavor. I still think of it as the gold standard of tofu. I was recently in the area for the first time in 5 or 6 years and decided to go back to Vivi's with my mom. It was the first thing that popped into both of our minds-a real jinks moment. I was nervous that it wouldn't live up to our memory. Vivi's had moved around the corner from their old location-a cute, cozy little cafe-but their new restaurant is more spacious, hopefully to accommodate the flocks of diners that their food merits. I got the tofu vermicelli, which was exactly as I remembered, equally flavorful and generous in portion size for $15. My mom got the papaya salad for $5.50. I previously thought I didn't like papaya-I was mistaken. It was a unique and refreshing dish that I would 100% go back for. Vivi's food tastes fresh and nourishing and at the same time satisfying and rich. We were short on time and were prepared to have to take it to go, but our food was out in 10 minutes. I don't usually write reviews, but after so many great experiences over the years it felt long overdue. A small business that has maintained their quality at reasonable prices over the years deserves to be recognized with a recommendation. Give Vivi's a try!

It's one of the few places I can truly say that everything is good here. One of my guilty pleasures is General Tso's and lately, I've noticed many of my other go-to eateries make trashy versions of it. But not Good Taste Noodle House. Whenever we come here, I order the General, my wife orders one of their Salt & Pepper dishes (today, it was prawns) and we agree on a third dish that's either new to us or something we don't often get. You really can't go wrong. Everyone is so friendly here. The food comes out quick and piping hot.

A Flavorful Escape in Hillsboro! If you haven't made the…read moretrip to Top Burmese Ambassador on Main Street, you are missing out on one of the most unique and soulful dining experiences in the Portland area. While the original NW 21st location is a classic, the "Ambassador" location in Hillsboro feels like a true elevation of the brand, combining incredible hospitality with a menu that is a masterclass in Burmese flavors. Here is why this spot is an absolute 5-star gem: The Tea Leaf Salad (Laphet Thoke): You cannot visit a Top Burmese location without ordering this. It is the gold standard--fermented tea leaves mixed with crunchy peanuts, toasted sesame, fried garlic, and fresh lime. It's a texture and flavor explosion that is unlike anything else in Southeast Asian cuisine. The Golden Samosas: These are a "super duper" must-order. They are flaky, perfectly spiced, and served with a house-made sauce that provides the perfect tangy kick. If you want something even more comforting, their Samosa Soup is the ultimate rainy-day cure. Standout Mains: The Coconut Noodle Soup (Khao Soi) is incredibly rich and aromatic, with just the right amount of creaminess. For a more savory, hearty option, the Beef Curry with Pan-Toasted Paratha is spectacular--the beef is fork-tender and the paratha is buttery and crisp. The Service: The "Ambassador" name is fitting because the staff truly acts as ambassadors for their culture. They are incredibly patient in explaining the menu to newcomers and make excellent recommendations based on your spice tolerance. Atmosphere: The interior is beautifully designed--vibrant, warm, and upscale without being stuffy. It feels like a "mini-vacation" right in the heart of Hillsboro. Pro Tip: This location is incredibly vegan-friendly (about 70% of the menu can be made plant-based!), so it's the perfect spot for a group with diverse dietary needs. Don't leave without trying the Burma Blue cocktail--it's as beautiful as it is delicious!

We ordered the green tea leaf salad, the turmeric fries, the chicken curry with paratha, the all-star okra curry, the coconut noodle soup, and the kheema paratha. I also tried the grass jelly drink. I can't choose my top favorite among everything that we tried. The green tea salad was very unique and I would never have ordered it myself. Now, I'm a fan. The turmeric fries were so delicious too! The chicken curry with the paratha was very Desi and excellent tasting. The okra had a homemade feel to it. I would've liked a side of paratha with it, rather than rice. The kheema paratha was excellent. The coconut noodle soup was like a nice warming/satisfying coconut curry with noodles. The grass jelly was interesting and I know that most of the jelly was left in the can, so while it is nice tasting, I wouldn't recommend drinking it in a can. The Hillsboro location is a little small but this restaurant and the server helping out are both an absolute delight and I highly recommend coming here!!

Help me with the update, Google said that it's permanently closed but is it?…read more Server: there was one person serving and she was busy but was still thoughtful and kind. Food: 1. Seafood pancake $20. TBH, it's more like squid pancake as that's the only seafood haha however when eating it fresh it was delicious and the batter was light. There was a good amount of green onions too which I love. Since my mom can't do spicy compared with me she provided soy sauce but I also got their spicy sauce it was fine (with a tiny dip). 2. Steamed dumplings (around $15) were good as it was piping hot and it was packed full of meat. TBH, all the foods we had didn't really need the additional sauce as both of the appetizers were flavorful enough!

This would be ok in another situation, but we were changed a 20% gratuity for party of 5+. It also took long for the food to come out even though restaurant was pretty empty. Food was pretty good but did not like the Deulkkae Gamjatang (perilla leaf and pork neck bone soup), it was difficult to get any pork off the bone and it tasted like beans and flaxseed ( somewhat gritty) and was not smooth like regular soup. However other dishes were pretty good and large enough so that all 5 of us could share 3 dishes. Would come back but only to try other dishes and with a smaller party.

That was fine with me because I was craving street tacos. I ordered, from Arreola's Kitchen and got a 3% discount for using cash and was handed a beeper. After I ordered tacos that were good, I stumbled on various other carts that I would like to try, plenty of international options. Parking on the street was easy for midweek lunch, but I feel parking is pretty much walking distance anywhere in downtown Hillsboro.

There's always been live music playing whenever we've visited, which adds so much charm to the experience - though it can get a tad bit loud, making it a little tough to hear the person sitting right across from you. While we've enjoyed almost all the food we've tried here, I have to give a massive shoutout to the Pinch Spice truck. They have some of the absolute best Indian food I've tasted around here. I find myself constantly coming back just for that single truck! 10/10 recommend One downer has been that at least a quarter food trucks are closed any time we have visited. There is a Korean music monitor on the back wall playing low key and on theme K tunes. I wanted to hear some older BlackPink tunes (Happy 10th Jisoo, Jenni, Rose and Lisa!) but was too shy to ask...
