About a week ago, my family and I visited this restaurant after a long day of travel. Normally, I would have tipped the waiters considerably for the service -- because it was really fantastic. They reviewed all items on the menu with me and validated what had gluten. Then, they offered alternatives and brought me the best jamon I have ever eaten! However, it was the mushroom dish with the egg and shrimp that had me swooning. I had a pork shop afterwards that was good and my family had many other foods as well as desserts, but that dish was out of this world great! The review is for the El Real Cafe. It is very tourist unfriendly. They charged us €6 for a glass of sangria. It is listed as €9 for a liter jar and three glasses all together is no more than one jar. €18 is like daylight robbery and we strongly recommend any tourist to steer clear away from this cafe. read more

It has an awesome location on a basement right across the basilica of nuestra señora del pilar, we found it through yelp arriving to downtown Zaragoza right after the parade of reyes. For starters we shared the Navarran artichokes sauteed with ham from Teruel and migas (bread crumbs) on a pan prepared on the traditional style of the Aragonese Pyrenees. I'm not a big fan of artichokes but I have to acknowledge these were pretty good but for me the migas were definitely better, I had no idea bread crumbs could taste so good. As main dish I had the roasted shoulder of lamb with potatoes, the meat was unusually tender for lamb and had a strong and nice taste and the potatoes were also roasted and prepared under the lamb so they absorbed all the juices which gave them an incredibly good taste. My companions had another lamb shoulder and two lamb racks, I tried the racks and found the shoulder to be tastier. For dessert we shared a home made cheese cake with cranberry sauce and other berries on top, it was really good. Between the food and the good service provided by Jesus I can say we had a really good time. We paid around 160€ (40€ each) for all this plus a bottle of red wine and a bottle of mineral water, so even though it was a bit pricey it was definitely money well spent. If I ever come back to Zaragoza I wouldn't hesitate to come to El Real. read more

This is an absolute find. I am in two minds whether or not to share it. I do not wish for it to be overrun; however,I do wish to alert anybody who appreciate good food in a nice environment to experience it. We had radissio salad and tuna carpassio for starters, absolutely devine. This was followed by lamb rack and lamb shoulder. The shoulder won. If you can afford the extra couple of €'s, have your meal here. It is great value. €85 for the above including one bottle of wine, one large bottle of water and coffee! read more

Restaurant is below and a great find. Service was excellent and food was amazing. Great wine list and the open grill was inviting. Neat that it was set in the cellar that was dated back to the 1400s. Historic, delicious, and amazing. read more

This place SUCKS! NEVER SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. Service is so rude, food was served cold and brought out he wrong food. With so many good options in this beautiful city DON'T waste your time. read more
