Not a terribly large selection, and without the customary humidor kept tobacco, I did indeed select some organic Mexican cigars, that I recalled from a past trip to Oaxaca. I'd avoid purchasing the Cuban cigars because they are almost twice as expensive and might not be genuine Cuban. Not a deal breaker for me. The cigar prices were fair. The customer service was "business only". Not much by way of curtesy, but it's a busy place. I got my cigars, and thanked the clerk who did not respond.

Here you can also find different kinds of rolling papers & filters to make your own cigarettes. My dad also told me that almost 25 years ago this was one of the few places where he could get CD's with music from Oaxaca. You can also find some appliances and a big variety of watches. If you're looking for organic tobacco this is the place to go, the only problem is that it's not always available, they don't receive many bags and they tend to sell within the first few days after they receive it.

It was a 20 minute, inexpensive taxi ride from the airport. Once there we found taxis were abundantly available even late at night. The courtyard is lovely, with plants and tables. The common areas are nicely decorated with stained glass windows and rustic benches. The rooms comfortable, the beds might be a little firm, but I slept quite well there. The bathrooms were very clean and the shower had abundant hot water. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was fantastic. I ordered the huevos rancheros almost every morning. The coffee was the best I've had. The staff was wonderfully friendly. This hotel is so walk-able to many restaurants and sites. The little store across the street had a very friendly and clear shopkeeper that clearly showed me the total for the chips and drinks I bought and clearly counted out change. Pez, my favorite seafood taco restaurant is only a block away. We took a short taxi ride to Cinemex at Macro Plaza and we were able to watch a couple movies in English. Location of this hotel was so great. It made for a wonderful vacation. I will stay here again if we return to Oaxaca.

This place is way off the beaten path, but the tour guides can definitely tell you how to get here…read more We arrived and were given a quick little demonstration of the wood carving area, we then climbed some stair to watch the artesanas busy at work. One employee was painting a small guitar on a stand, she said it takes 3 days and 8 hours per day to finish that piece. There was an other employee painting small trees with a syringe full of paint, tiny dots in many colors. The detail to make each piece special is obvious. You're not allowed to take pics once inside the store but there are trinket boxes, games, wall art, animal statues, shoes, keychains, holiday items, home decor, painted hats, so much to see.. so much color everywhere. I fell in love with hand painted Birkenstock sandals and yes I paid to much and yes I got them anyway.
