I ordered the chicken gordita lunch box which was terrible. I bit into the gordita and it was all bitter. Lesson learned! Always look inside your gordita/tacos before eating it. I normally don't like to complain but it has been a long day at work and I stopped by one of my childhood favorite places. Everything on the receipt was right since I had ordered a side of guacamole, rice and beans other than my combo meals. I should've checked the bag but by the time I got home my side of rice was missing. Even though I did pay for it I'm not the type to get mad or even call to complain. This is a fast-food chicken joint. They put something of a Latin spin, but it's really just grilled chicken served with tortillas. The chicken is pretty good, as are their sides. When we were there they seemed to be having problems. Their card reader was out, so we had to pay cash. And there was something going on in the back, but I couldn't really tell what (someone was have trouble with something, and there was chattering back and forth). So it's difficult to judge them on other aspects besides the food. The person who took our order was nice enough, but distracted by whatever was going on. I'd come here before KFC, but I wouldn't call this my "go-to" place when I want to eat out (or do take-out, which we did). We had a coupon, and a couple of our other choices were closed. I dont like doing this but frankly I'm tired of being taken advantage of. We were served virtually raw chicken a few nights ago after having ordered it well done the way our children like it. I know the food here is cheap but we paid a lot of upcharge because our kids only eat breasts and legs. We got a couple wrong sides and were missing our chips also. Now we called today because the entire order was trashed literally in the garbage can uneaten. My wife spoke to the manager who said she could offer a 25% discount which we decided to take because the kids love the chicken here. So when we tried to order THE SAME THING AS BEFORE we were denied. We were also informed of a minimum 45 minute wait. What the heck I though this was fast food? Okay.... No. I normally really like El Pollo Loco. Normally, the chicken is pretty good and it is decently priced, allowing you to fill up on relatively little money. Today, however, I experienced a not-so-great version of their service. I went through the drive through and asked for a chicken and cheese quesadilla, ONLY chicken and cheese, and a cherry coke. The drive through took forever, as it normally does, and when I finally got my food, I continued on my way to work. Upon inspecting my food (as I always have to do due to my picky-eaterness) I found sour cream, salsa, and guacamole. *shudders* I also ordered a cherry coke and received regular coke. On top of the food mistake, they wildly overcharged me for my meal: a $4 meal was somehow $9. So, I went back to the restaurant, but this time I went inside. I waited my turn (again, it took forever) and told the lady at the counter of the mistake on my quesadilla (I didn't even bother with my drink.) The worker looked at me and said, "Oh, you don't want it?" To which I replied: "No, I can't have the stuff inside of it... I wanted only meat and cheese. I was also overcharged." The worker then turned to her manager and explained the situation. When she was done, she said: "okay, they're making you a new one" and went to help the people behind me. I stated "I was also over charged for my food." The worker turned to her manager, and then turned back to me. She said "We'll just put extra chicken in your quesadilla." ..................... Okay, side note: Dude, really? Really? So I told the worker, "I'd rather just have the difference of what I over paid." She looked like she didn't know what to do, and finally the manager agreed. So I finally got the difference of what I over paid, and when I stepped to the side, I looked up to see the manager giving me a dirty look. 1. I know I am the pickiest eater known to man, but if I am paying for food, I don't think it's too crazy to get what I want. 2. It is not my fault that whomever made my food messed up. 3. The MANAGER is giving dirty looks to paying customers... not a very good sign. 4. I was polite about the mess up and STILL got attitude... I personally don't eat here because their food nauseates me for some reason (sanitation?), but my husband likes it so I came here for him tonight. Then there was silence for 30 seconds. So I asked, "Are you done asking questions or what's going on?" She repeated my order again INCORRECTLY. I corrected her and just drove around to the window. I don't have time for these games all night. When I pulled up to the window she was telling her colleagues about how awkward I am. always wanted to review this place but I usually stay away from chains.. I do have to comment that their marinated grilled chicken is some of the finest I have had. I recently had their new BBQ chicken and well that was great too. I dont really see the point in reviewing too many fast food joints but El Pollo Loco is special. Sometimes I have seen people get pissed with the service because they think it is a fast food joint and it takes a while sometimes for the food to cook. People need to just stand back and relax. It's one of those day when I'm running errands. I had to take my kids to the Milano Music store for a beginner clarinet lesson book for my son and off course he wanted to eat after that. We are driving out of the parking lot and right across the plaza is El pollo Loco. We decided to dine in for a fast grab. There's 3 workers on Sunday lunch time, one is station on drive thru window, one cashier and one standing around waiting to just flip the pollos as they grill, looking at the customers waiting in line. Finally, there's a customer service to take my orders. I went to find a sitting area and there's water spots on the floor waiting for their customer to slip and slide! So off course, my motherly instinct kicked-in and I just have to let them know that's there's paddles of water scattered along the walk ways of sitting area. I wasn't sure if someone inconsiderate spill their drinks and didn't notify the establishment or what but as I turned around to get my drink, there you go! The beverage machine has flooded on the bottom and no one seemed to care. I told the worker they need to please take care of that before someone slip and hurt themselves. Not only their beverage machine is flooding, they tried to see why all their beverage is all water down as well, it seemed to be broken too. Not a big deal for me as I can drink tea all day everyday, no problem lol for my kids he's stuck with water or share drink with me. Their salsa bar is also pretty empty and I have to keep asking for what I need so I can enjoy my meal with my son. At this point, drive thru was probably be a better decision instead of dining in. It took about 5 minutes for them to put the wet floor sign and 10 minutes for them to start mopping. I don't ever understand why a busy business lunch time weekend are always short on employees. It is what it is. I hope things gets better for them because their pollo is good but management need improvement per OSHA.
