Manager was very nasty! Make sure you like your food because if you don't, all hell will break loose!!! Manager wanted to argue me down because that was my first time ordering beef cheese dip and I didn't like it. He says "I know people like you come in here and like to get stuff for free" and says I come in here all the time. The crazy part is, I don't even live in Newberry, I live in Georgia over a hour away. I was just helping a coworker out with my job in this location. There is nothing good to say about this place , I sent my food back and said that I didn't want anything else , the manager came out and asked me what I didn't like about it , I informed him it didn't take right and said it didn't taste fresh, he got offended and informed me everything was fresh. SHUT UP AND EAT! The place was a bit of a dive, but the food looked good and the people were nice. So what do you do? Shut up and eat! Based on the exterior of this restaurant, I would not be inclined to visit. However, our friends who are obviously fans, strongly recommended this place. Upon arriving, I noticed that the restaurant is a bit worn and run down and does not have an attractive aesthetic. Now, when I visit small town Mexican restaurants I am not expecting a lot because they tend to be very traditional which means there is no vegetable quesadilla on the menu and one can expect dark meat in their chicken based options. I was very surprised to see that not only did they have a veggie quesadilla on the menu, it had a nice mix of fresh veggies like spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, peppers and onions. I ordered the lunch plate which came with two quesadillas and I also ordered a side of refried beans. I received two well prepared quesadillas that were stuffed with veggies, (I only ate one at the time) and beans that were absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned. Everyone ordered dishes that they really liked and everything arrived hot and well prepared with quality ingredients. Serving sizes are very generous. If you visiting this small town, you will definitely want to visit this restaurant. It is very casual and low-key but the employees are warm and inviting. This is definitely a must stop on your visit to Newberry. Even if you don't have time to eat in, you must take it to go. Enjoy! read more

We stopped in on our road trip home and by the looks of the parking lot this must be one of the most popular places in town. We were promptly seated and provided options for salsa...this is such a nice touch (mild, hot and pico if wanted). The prices for lunch are the best I've seen. I don't think any of our orders were over $5. I had the beef nachos and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly with crispy chips (not soggy). My husband had the chicken fajita from the lunch menu and he enjoyed it. Our daughter ordered an enchilada and she said it was delicious. The kicker for us is they give you a plate of delicious ice cream to share at the end of your meal (included!) vanilla with cinnamon sprinkled on top and a strawberry type glaze drizzled over. Perfect ending to the cheapest meal on our trip. I would absolutely recommend this place. Quality Americanized Mexican dishes all delicious. read more

Only reason for four stars vs five was the cleanliness of the restrooms, but then again it was right after the lunch rush and could have been easily attended to. Very impressed. read more

Don't know how this place has 4 stars. I would give negative stars if possible. Starting with the drink. A margarita that tasted horrible. The mix was not tart not sure what taquila they use but it was nasty. The chili relleno did not have any peppers. Waiter said was just cheese & meat. "Huh??" We had the lunch combos since a regular menu was not offered to us. Everything looked like a soup. The salsa looked like so cheapo salsa from a cheep store. As for the service, no one bothered to check on us at all. This place made Taco Bell look like a 5 star resturant. Needless to say no plans on returning. read more

Food was good, service was not. **I downloaded Yelp specifically to share my experience and make this review. Went this afternoon with my sister. Immediately when we sat down the server (whom I will not name) seemed agitated. I ignored it, knowing that everybody has a bad day every once and awhile. Well, after he took our order and delivered it, he never returned. Not to check to see how we were, or to ask if we need anything. Nothing. Dropped the bill off later and that was it. Saw him TWICE. When taking our order and giving us the bill. Usually after finishing your meal, they ask if you would like desert. (Unsurprisingly he did not.) Since our server had decided he did not want to serve, I asked a nearby server. Who I heard call our server by his name and in Spanish tell him we wanted ice cream. The server assigned to us originally, looked at me, shook his head, and proceeded to respond to the server I asked for the ice cream. Obviously, not happy with my request. Afterwards, he brought the ice cream (reluctantly) one scoop, one chip, for two people. I was pretty much through. I will not ever be returning, and will gladly share my experience with any and everyone I meet asking about this restaurant. :) I hope no one else has a similar experience. read more

Found this place online, looked cheap, so we came in for dinner. All was fine, the first 10 minutes, til I tried to order a drink. I handed the waiter my id, mind you I'm 24. Making the long trip back from vacation in Savannah, we decided to stop for fuel and lunch. After an 'attempt' to eat at Zaxby's (YUCK), decided to walk next door to El Poblano. What a treat! Food was really good, service was fast and attentive! Beers were cold and huge! Prices were so low, we did a double take on the bill!
