Although we had already gone through basic obedience training with a different trainer, she was still really reactive. I signed us up for 8 weeks of advanced training, hoping to help socialize her more and calm down her automatic response to "eat" other dogs, birds, sticks, basically everything around her. We completed Valkyrie's training, and I now can tell her to "leave it" and she does!! I never dreamed I'd ever be able to walk her and play fetch with her off leash, but after this training I really can do so with confidence. Her basic skills have sharpened, and she learned new tricks like placing on objects and dropping her ball on command. She and I have worked and practiced together, using the tools Valkyrie provided, and I can say that we've learned, gained confidence in each other, and now work as a team rather than dog and owner. I also learned more about how to "read" my dog so that I can anticipate her behavior before it happens. Training is done at different locations, to allow you to experience "real-life" situations. I had a good learning experience at Emerald Nursing School. I recently took a class to get…read morecertified as a nursing assistant. The class was reasonably priced. It finished in about three weeks. If you're able to learn fast, you'll breeze right through it. If you can't, I would recommend a longer program. They have an eight-week weekend option at Emerald. The tuition also includes the textbook and scrubs to wear for clinicals. You don't get to keep the text book. The state exams are separate costs. The class includes a lecture and skills lab, along with clinicals five days a week. If we weren't going through a pandemic, you would go to clinicals at a long term care facility aka a nursing home or assisted living facility. Once you finish the class, you take a state exam. The state exams are delayed right now. They'll hopefully resume in July, maybe August. You're still able to find jobs in healthcare by finishing the class I took. The classes are pretty small, which is good for me. There was a total of nine students in my class. You have to wear a mask at all times and social distance always. The staff is also kind and informative. Overall a good experience here. It's affordable and finishes quickly. Oh and another thing, you also get CPR certified after taking the nursing assistant class. That's typically a separate cost.
