Got back to the hotel and realized this was the best muffin I ever had in my like. When I went back the next day, I timed it wrong. The after work crowd was there and it was PACKED!! Looking forward to going back next time I'm in Merida. Process: You pick up a pan and use tongs to pick out your items. Take your items to counter one, where they give you a list of your items to take to counter two. At counter two, you pay for the items while counter one bags up your order. Grab a huge metal platter and a pair of tongs and choose to your hearts content. I can't remember what it's called but there is a star shaped loaf that is very dense and covered in sugar that is like a sweet cornmeal bread which is awesome. Very crumbly and messy, but oh so tasty.
