El Hogar de Carmelita was a great find in Guanajuato. You can walk to the town center and most of the cultural and social spots to visit from the house, but it is far enough off the main drag that it is very quiet at night. You are staying in a beautiful home, not a crowded, budget backpacker den. Our hostess was very accommodating and even cooked an awesome, healthy breakfast for us. There is an outer gate for security, although I never felt threatened in this town.
