Norwegian meatballs are a mix of potato, bread crumbs, ground beef, salt and pepper. They are very dense and large. The stewed peas are stewed green peas mashed with butter and sometimes sugar, salt and pepper. The potatoes are skinned and boiled in salted water as are the carrots. The brown sauce is a mixture of sour cream, butter, flour, and beef stock plus herbs and aromatics. The verdict? It was a huge plate and I was able to get two meals out of it. It was pretty tasty. I did not try their desserts, but they looked good. Another option for you for a traditional meal in Sandnes.

For wine, they had a blaufrankish on the menu, which was a nice surprise. The house bread is a country loaf that had a good crust and a nice softer / chewy center. They had a lunch special - a la carte or as a meal (with dessert and a salad). The meal is definitely a better deal - NOK180 a la carte vs NOK250 for the whole meal. We tried the bolinius (salt cod fritters) with pea purée and a cauliflower couscous, both of which were unique/good. Sandwiches are all open faced, served on rye with a slather of aioli. You can get 2 for NOK180 or 3 for NOK240. - Steak: topped with an onion ring; the meat texture was a little tough - Beef tartare: fresh, but a little under salted - Shrimp with egg: the yolk was still nice and runny - Fried cod: nicely fried Food took a little longer than expected (it was fairly empty at lunch), but everything was pretty solid.
