Our first time in this brew pub and really liked the design and openness. Our problem was with the food and the service. Our young-ish waitress was very nice but didn't seem to know how to handle a few basic issues, such as bringing my boyfriends food 25 minutes before mine. Without even coming to the table for an explanation as to why it was taking so long. The buffalo chicken salad that my boyfriend ordered did not taste right to him, the lettuce was off, and the blue cheese tasted strange. After a few bites he told the waitress he did not care for it, and it tasted odd. She took it away with apologies. My meatball sub arrived a good ten minutes later.
When the bill came, it contained a charge for a soda we didn't order, and the charge for the salad which wasn't good. We objected, and the bill came back, without the soda but still the salad. The waitress insisted that the salad was as described and since it was prepared for him it would not come off the bill. A minute or two later the manager came by to see if everything was OK. We told her the same thing, that the lettuce tasted off and the blue cheese wasn't right and the salad tasted strange. She refused to make any accommodation, saying that's the way it was always made. We gave up and paid the bill and left. Half a block away the manager chased us down because instead of leaving what we thought were two 5 peso coins we had set down two 2 peso coins, meaning that we had in advertently shorted the bill by six pesos. So after continuing to charge us for a dish that wasn't right and we sent back immediately, she made a big fuss in the street over six pesos. I can understand the waitress perhaps not feeling empowered to take something off of the bill a customer found unsatisfactory, but management should have more discretion and better judgment than this. read more
