Just a warning that medium here is not the same as other places, it is super rare. The steak was very good I had the ribeye and nice flavor. Also the size was good only with half portion was too full. The pizza was not good wouldn't recommend, for the same price you could go to milk pizzeria much better. Bad restaurant. Food, they had bad description of plates, when they brought something that I did not expect they initially refused to take away, had to wait for manager to do the right thing. I then reordered and steak was overcooked, (not medium rare as requested) and dry. Mashed potato was also pretty bad. Drinks also bad. Old fashion had multiple ice cubes instead of one and the wine I ordered from menu not available. They brought us a courtesy cake and changed us for. Cake want foos either. El Gaucho is widely known to locals and visitors of Monterrey. You are garunteed to have an awesome experience and most likely the best steak you have ever eaten. The service is first class and you will think that the waiter is only responsible for your table alone. This time around we had a group of ten for a "work" dinner. Fresh bread, chips and salsa arrive as we browse the menu. A round of beef empanadas is ordered and arrives shortly thereafter. They were highly recommended by a member of our party and they were delicious but I did not need the additional course. Guacamole, Queso Panela a la Plancha, and Chorizo Gaucho also arrive and I am guessing someone ordered them since they are on the appetizer menu. The guac was great and the chorizo was addictive. I ordered the half size Arrochera (see my pic) cooked medium with fries. I was warned to order a bit more done than I would typically order but I found that my steak was cooked perfectly medium so I will get medium rare next time. It was probably the best steak I have ever eaten. I think I also said this the last time I ate here. It was tender, although this cut is known more for it's great flavor than it is for being tender. The fries were sad in comparison to the massive steak but I did snack on them from time to time. I had absolutely no room for desert but after chatting for about 30 minutes and being coerced I went with the Lemon Pie and I am glad I did. It was not overly sweet or tart but had a great lemon flavor. It was rich and creamy and the graham cracker crust was perfect with it. As always the service was stellar and our waiter spoke English. I absolutely LOVE El Gaucho. The steak is always flavorful tasty and juicy. We had the queso flamiado. Super good. All of the portions are very big (even the 1/2 order). Service was exceptional, place wss very clean. Been here 3 times now and is definitely on my "go to" list when here in Monterrey! Very family friendly... Lots of celebrations going on.
