came here after eyeing this place for a while now and can easily say this is a great addition in an area sorely lacking in variety of non-Asian foods. As pretty much the only Argentine restaurant within the area, this place is a solid authentic taste of what you can find in other more Hispanic dominated areas like corona or jackson heights. I ordered the mixed grill paradilla for two and loved pretty much every item on here. The blood sausages were delicious and crumbly, the offal meats such as the sweetbread, the intestine and the kidney were cleaned incredibly well and did not have that typical barnyard smell to it, the meat (when asked for medium rare) were incredibly tender and fresh tasting as well. The chimichurri complimented everything very well and was done solidly as well here. Overall this place is pretty much comparable to other more well know Argentine restaurants around the NYC area, however why i gave this a bump up was due to the fact that this is the only game in this neck of the woods and the fact that the offal meats were cleaner than i had expected. SERVES MOLDY FOOD! Save your money and your frustrations. We usually go to the parent restaurant in Corona (El Gauchito I) but decided to try this one out because it's closer to home. When we got there & sat down, we were not approached by a waitress for a good 10 minutes - no menu, no water, nothing. When someone finally came to give us menus, she took another 10 minutes to come back for our order. We had a toddler with us who was hungry and thirsty and we received nothing. Strike one. The Porterhouse steak was the special of the day so my husband and I decided to share. What came out was a very thin steak that was less than 0.5" thick. The meat did not look fresh and seemed like it came from those frozen packs that Tad's Steaks serves. Sizzler had better steak than this. The waitress did not even offer chimichurri - we had to ask for it. It tasted gamey & it was very tough to chew. The french fries that accompanied it were not fresh and hand-cut but the frozen pre-packaged ones as well. They served us salad but did not offer dressing or even oil/vinegar. Strike two. Towards the end of our meal, i noticed one of the pieces of bread they had given us had mold. We called the waitress to show her and she said she would get her manager to speak with us. A few moments later, he came carrying a basket of bread. We thought he would be apologetic but he was very nasty & rude. He said, "There's no mold on our bread. Look at all the bread we have. No mold there!" then proceeded to shove the basket of bread in our faces. He became confrontational telling us that it was just olive oil that spilled onto it and we didn't know what we were talking about. We then in turned showed him the piece with it and explained that our toddler and a few from our party had already eaten some of it before we saw it. Rather than be sympathetic or even apologetic, he yelled, "No! THAT'S NOT MOLD! THAT'S NOT MOLD!". By then the other restaurant patrons were staring at us. I can understand if it wasn't mold, they could have approached us apologetically and say "sorry if our food is not up to standard, is there someway that we can make you happy?". Not one kind word from the manager. It was really embarrassing. He turned and stormed away and literally a minute later the waitress came back and asked if we wanted dessert like nothing happened. STRIKE THREE. This place is a sad disgusting excuse for a restaurant and we will never eat here again. The meat is not fresh like the Corona location and the sausages are pre-cooked (you can see them piled up in a tub by the window). The staff is unfriendly, nasty and extremely rude. They treated everyone in our party like we were criminals and if they keep up like this, they will be out of business soon. read more

By far the best Argentinian steakhouse in Queens. The skirt steak is absolutely incredible, I always get it with a side of rice and french fried. I highly recommend their selection of fresh squeezed juices, especially passion fruit. Priced are moderately well for the quality of the food. This restaurant should be in Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares!! I've seen better service in McDonald's. Came here today (Christmas Eve) with my family of four people. I knew we should have stepped out. We had a reservation but were not seated until 5 minutes later even though it was empty. The "hostess" did not greet us and looked like she was unhappy to be there which I can understand because it's Christmas Eve. We got seated and there was absolutely no waiter present at all. There was like 3 other tables besides mine and there were three waiters. I am a waiter for another restaurant and how three waiters can not wait four tables is astonishing! The waiter who took our order had an attitude. Sure we weren't sure what we were ordering because most of the menu was in Spanish, but that is no reason to give us attitude. The food came 45 minutes later... The steak we ordered was hard to bite and burned. We ordered medium and got a medium rare instead... I told the waiter about this and they took it quickly and came back with the steak fully cooked at well done 15 minutes later. I couldn't even bite into it and it was burned. In conclusion: - slow and bad service - ok food that is burned and hard to bite - no parking - overpriced for the service and food we got I will never be coming here again unless they improve their service/food. I suggest you look somewhere else because they ruined our Christmas even dinner. Just like other reviews, the waiters had the audacity to add their tip to the check total. It was 20%. Unless they are killing the cow in the back, there's no reason for this to take this long. When we got here there were only 3 other tables. Now there's 6 tables total. The customer service was average and the worst thing was the bill, cause they are imposing an arbitrary 18% of gratuity, as the picture show clearly in a hand written tip of $12.97. I've been here a handful of times and their food is consistently decent. Most of the menu is protein heavy, but hey, I'm not complaining. We went for a friend's birthday recently and ordered the meat platter (3 of them), and chicken cutlets that came with rice and beans. They also gave us some complimentary appetizers of different pork dishes. The meat platter combo was pretty intimidating, but I love me some good innards. There was blood sausage, regular sausage, a skinny sausage, kidney, sweetbreads, and short ribs (my fave) all on a sizzling grill. Our table of 12 barely finished one platter. That thing could feed a village! I felt like everything could use a hint more seasoning or salt, but I'm a salt lover. All in all it was a good meal, but not kick-your-boots-off-fold-your-hands-behind-your-neck-sigh-in-contentment good. read more

Generous 2 stars. We ordered parrillada completa para 2 and tallarines con salsa boloñesa. One Diet Coke, a Quilmes beer and a glass of Malbec wine. Total $96 plus tip. The ribs tough (very), the skirt steak tough and chewy- my kids love steak but didn't eat after chewing and spitting the first bite. Chorizo hard and over cooked. 3 out of the 4 pieces or molleja were burnt back. The chinchulin was ok. The tallarines were ok. However, $21 for a boxed pasta dish is pretty unreasonable. Portion was very frugal. 13.90 for the pasta and 6.90 for the sauce. The service was one of five. The personnel was in such a hurry it made me uncomfortable and rushed. They were only 25% of the full capacity and still the food took over 30 minutes to be ready. Servers were constantly rushing and going back and forth and things we needed had to be asked two or three times. They brought the wine almost at the end of the meal after I had to go the bar to ask for it and tell them they forgot about it. Had been at this place three or four times before and experience was 3.5 out of 5- don't remember having such a bad experience before. Won't be coming back. read more

Been to this location and their one in Elmhurst several times as it's my boyfriend's favorite Argentinian steakhouse (mine is La Fusta). However, regardless of our difference in opinion, this place is a solid choice for skirt steak and far less hectic than their Corina location. We usually get here early, around 6pm and never have to wait for a table. The steak is good and so are their baked clams and fried provolone. read more

I've been here many times!! The atmosphere is very familiar, quite what I like a lot! This is a great place you can come with your partner or a big group of friends whit whom you can talk without having to shout since the music they play is at low volume, which makes it different from other noisy restaurants. For this reason this restaurant is our favorite place for the Christmas gathering with our collaborators. The steaks and overall their menu is delicious. My husband and I always ordered "The Parrilla/Grill for Two", but we can never finish whit this huge dish, then all leftovers we take home to continue enjoying right the next day. With this Parrilla/Grill for Two, you can order up to 2 sides (from many options they have) but my favorite one is Rice and Back Beans. The waiters, waitresses, and all employees are amazing, they are always attentive to the needs of the customers. Remember, is not necessary to spend a large amount of money to enjoy a good cut of meat, and this restaurant has very competent prices. read more

I am unsure if they changed the chef, I'm not sure what magic they have going on in the kitchen. I only know that this is definitely one of my most favorite restaurants in Queens now. The food and service is definitely worth going out of your way to visit. I came with my family here and we all ordered starters, entrees, and a dessert. Each were all cooked perfectly. The starters were a family salad that was served with palm hearts, olives, avocado, and a mix of greens that included arugula, gem lettuce, with a shredded and julienne of carrot and red onion. The salad was gorgeous finished with the soft vinaigrette that coats the palette gently and cuts perfectly through the richness of the beef empanada that my family took to ordering along with this lovely salad. The beef empanada lacked certain flavor as it was slightly sweet, and missing the robust flavor that usually comes with an argentine dinner. Then the entrees arrived... My father ordered an assortment of meats that included short ribs, Argentinian chorizo, and a blood sausage that were cooked with much color and lots of flavor. Moist, and aromatic with scents of grilled, caramelized flavor. Finished with the usual piece of pepperoncini which normally comes with argentine cuisine here in Queens. My mother ordered a breaded steak that was fried to perfection, and still moist served wrong a delectable fried egg over the top. The star of this piece of the dinner though, in my opinion, were the fries that this entree and mine were served with. Completely crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. This chip can only be known as the triple cooked chip recipe that is found in numerous Michelin starred restaurants. Unforgettable in flavor, and will haunt me until I return to this restaurant. Chinchulines, and molleja was the assortment that my eldest brother ordered and was also cooked to the peak of flavor. On the side was also a great fried item known as tostones. A familiar Spanish dish that consists of fried plantains mashed or cut to fry into the texture that resembles a French fry. Great crisp on the outside, and very fluffy on the inside. As chinchulines are, chewy but with a filling that is rich which makes the dish very easy to enjoy. The molleja was full of texture and what the most important characteristic for this cut was that it was easy to cut through. Many times I've been to restaurants that over cooked this item and was hard to chew and consume. Lastly, my entree was a flounder served with shrimps. Finished with a calabresa sauce that was seasoned perfectly, and had pieces of onion and tomato that left the whole dish in perfect harmony. The fish was cooked to a moist texture that had the best "flaking" component that's important to have in a seafood dish that primarily focuses on this particular entree. I still can't stress enough about the French fries that were served in this dinner. They were amazing, and I urge you to please try this side dish. The dessert course was simple, but it was rather interesting. We ordered a typical argentine dessert that is known in English as "Pancake, filled with sweet milk" that came in a beautiful wrapping of blue flames. When you order this dish, which I know you will because there is no finished dinner without this final piece. Let it sit for a bit in the flames so the booze that set it on fire have a chance to burn off before it's ready to consume. After just a couple of minutes in the fires, this dessert is ready to eat. It filled the mouth with sweet, and slight char flavor which ultimately gives you the feeling of a night well spent. The experience was, in every way, unforgettable. We were just thinking of a place to eat after a long day at the beach, and we thought of this restaurant. I've never experienced food at this restaurant like I have tonight. I will always want to come back, especially after a dinner like this. read more

The food was great and this is why I'm giving it 2 stars, the service was extremely poor, we have to request drinks because the server never offered them, it took too long then to get drinks and we never got water, even that we ordered coctails, wine & beer. You would think that water will come along. Finally we remind the server twice that we were ready to order, during this time we have already finished our drinks and the server never thought too offer another round of drinks, even we were drinking alcoholic bevarages, the water never came! 1 hr after, the food came to the table and it was amazing.... Btw we were a table of 13, so off course the tip was not as generous, but, it's reallly dissapointing to have such a bad service with such a nice food. read more

No one paid attention for about 15 min We finally sat ourselves down Our waitress was very unwelcoming and no knowledge of the menu and took very poor orders. No one attended our table for about one hour and a half . My sister kept going to the front to ask for Water, menus, bread,and etc. Dinner was served at 4:10 pm. Two hours after ...... The service is so terrible It's self service. Going back and forth for whatever additional you need. Our table looked so over crowded with plates from the appetizers and dinner and it remained like it for 45 min . We had to go to the front to ask once again to clean up. We just wanted to pay and get out and have desert with coffee somewhere else. Check came with a handwritten by the waitress Gratuity amount $48. This is so illegal and very rood and very unprofessional. Service is horrible, working personal is mean, the food was not good at all. We asked for rib eye steaks to be medium well - came rear . This is probably one of the worst resturaunts I've been to. Service was extremely poor with the fact that there was only 3-4 tables occupied with 3 waiters, it shouldn't take almost over an hour to get our food. When we got it , the steak was almost raw, we asked to recook it and it came back completely burnt and impossible to eat. I honestly think is the best Argentinian steakhouse I ever been at. The cuts are quite fine, not the very best but good enough to feel that you had a good steak. Service is always attentive and quick even if is a busy day. Luciano is always my server and He is awesome. The place is casual and nice, better than the one in Corona. Parking is not much of a headache or we are always lucky. Prices are very decent. A meal for 3 hungry adults and 1 child is around $100, without alcoholic beverages. The only thing I don't like is the music, they never play Argentinian music or have something nice (music) that you can eat with. They had bachata music on! Came here for a birthday dinner. The table we were seated at was wobbly beyond belief, it was in the back room as we were a party of 8. We were not given napkins and they decided it would be a good idea to cut some type of metal material just a few feet away which was behind an exit door but within the restaurant, this of course left a strong construction odor during our dining experience.
