A LB gem. It was our first time here and was impressed by the attention to detail throughout. The train was the star attraction and it was entertaining while educational. Staff was really nice and they had these metal name badges that looked like the ones at Disneyland. We went with our 11 month old so we could only Do a couple of attractions. The ice cream vendor was closed so that was a bummer. Next time we'll pack some snacks and spend some time at one of the picnic tables. If you did everything at a leisurely pace, it'll probably take you about 1.5 hours if there's no lines. Admission was $15/person, I can see how that could add up since there's a cost for certain attractions. With the thoughtful touches and attention to storytelling, you can tell this is a passion project for the owners and they're definitely not making a lot of money off this venture. I didn't mind spending the money knowing it'll go to supporting this place. I do wish they had an annual pass option. Since we already have annual parking passes for El Dorado park, an AP option to the Frontier would encourage us to go more often. read more

I love this place. My daughter loves train rides so we ventured down here from Los Angeles. I like how small this park is (frontier not El Dorado. El Dorado itself is huge). This place has a train ride, gold panning, and a merry go round. Tickets are $15 and include a ticket to the train ride and merry go round. For small kids under 2 I love how manageable this park is. Since it isn't huge (lilke Disneyland) it is easy to handle. The staff are super friendly. The train ride is about 10 minutes and is a nice loop around a part of the park. Parking was super easy (though you have to pay to get into the park $8). I would definitely go back here. It was awesome. read more

We just had my twins birthday party there and it was such a fun time! Our guests loved it(and we even had some teens as party guests). The twins had a blast. All the riders are so fun! Honestly not worth $15/person. Usually kids under 2 are free at many places, but they charge for kids over 12 months. If you have kids under 2, there's not much for them to do here except the train ride and if they're willing to ride the carousel. We were told in the front that our little one could ride the mine buggy ride, but after getting there, we noticed she's too young. In total, we spent $45 for 30 minutes there. read more

$85 later, we rode the train once, the push cart once, panned for rocks and the 'games' were closed although that would have cost extra. my grandson had a lot of fun today just running around the grassy area behind the train(watch out for the gopher tunnels , you'll break your ankle!) It's a cute tiny park and the little tunnel the train rides through is not too scary for the kids. Don't expect to spend much time here, max 1 hour as there's not much. You're better off going to the playground with a picnic for free if you're on a tight budget. I gave 3 stars because my grandson said he had a lot of fun. read more

This past weekend we celebrated my 2 grand babies birthdays at El Dorado Frontier Land and it was a Wonderful experience. It is a cute mini hidden gem . From day one when I walked in and met with Jeff who gave me the tour I was sold. After I booked the day I had questions leading up to the party date and Jeff always answered my calls. We booked the BLUE HOUSE which was great for keeping our party together. We had the park from 11:00-5:00 and had access to all the rides. Sure it's $5 to get in per person, but then the tickets and $8 parking add up to a waste of time. There was a long line to get into the park. Frontier was located all the way in the back of the park. Went here on a Sunday and we were honestly shocked at how expensive it was. Just to get in anyone over 12 months had to pay $10 each. We wanted to get on the train which for 4 guests - Me, my husband, my 2 year old, and 1.5 year old was 12 tickets. We had to buy 25 tickets to all get on which was $59. So in total we spent $99 to go in and ride the train. We had a few tickets left over and our son was able to ride the carousel. The train was lackluster.... honestly a little sad. It is right by the freeway so if you enjoy the rumble of cars during a train ride this is the place for you. The conductor took 10 minutes to come over and start the train. He was on his phone and paid not attention to the line forming until he was done with his phone call. It was incredibly rude. At least acknowledge the guests and give them an estimate. We were so confused. He didn't make any eye contact but again was just chatting it up on his phone. It was $15 to take a pic with Santa. The park was pretty empty and it's easy to see why. This place is just WAY too expensive for the value. It needs a facelift. The exterior appears rusted and derelict at best. I hate to leave a bad review but for the price I wish I would have done my research before coming here. In this day and age $99 is better spent elsewhere. read more

If you're thinking about coming here for their winter wonderland experience, DON'T. Brought my 1.5 yr old son to ride the train and get a pic with Santa, the weekend before Christmas. During the pumpkin patch season, we purchased tickets but my son got sick so they went unused. When we tried to use them again in between then and now, the train was down for maintenance. Today I went with the intention of paying full price if I had to. I asked the lady upfront if they could possibly honor these tickets for today. She said that it sounded like it could be possible but she didn't know how to ring it up in the system so she then called the owner up. When he came, she explained to him what my question was and he looked over at me like I was stupid and if it was a stupid question. Could've been a simple yes or no I'm sorry this is a special event which requires a new ticket. But this rude OWNER, with TERRIBLE customer service was looking at talking to me like I'm an idiot. I simply said "sir you don't need to talk to me or look at me like I'm stupid, you could say yes or no and if not I will pay the full price" but because I gave him an "attitude" he denied entry to me and my 1 YEAR OLD SON. Talk about Christmas spirit. I never once got loud, I did not cuss, I simply told him that he did not need to get disrespectful because I asked a question that seemed pretty simple to me. But because I stood up for myself he for some reason felt threatened and did not allow my son & I to enter the park. I have never In my life experienced treatment or a situation like this. Having to get my son in the car while he's kicking and crying because he wanted to go in and ride the train was the cherry on top. How a man could deny a woman and her small child entry after HE was the demeaning one is beyond me. I will never ever give this "theme park" my time or money. Shame on you owner!!!! Local hidden gem. It wasn't crowded as other places which is great when you have an impatient toddler. I like the fact that rides are included with admission so you get to go on as many times as you'd like. I wish they had more decorations along the train ride route. Cool little place, my daughter had fun and everyone was friendly. They have a carousel, gold panning, a small bike with a track, a game (that was closed) and of course the train. The trains cool and fun and my daughter loved it. They have a good cart, but it was closed and apparently the owners going to try to get it up and running soon. To be honest there's not too much to do inside, but the scenery/vibe is cool. You can rent the "blue house" in there for a bday party for $400, but you need At least 35 people to buy wrist bands which they discount for $13 instead of the normal $15. You can rent an area with tables and an awning for $250 and you need at least 35 people to buy wristbands as well. You can also rent an area with tables and tree coverings for $200 and only need 20 wrist bands. They do have 2 tables outside of the frontier village that you can rent and they do not require to buy wristbands, but if you or anyone in your party want to they will give it to you for $13. The owner said before Halloween, they have a pumpkin patch, with a live band, and hopefully food. On Christmas they have Santa. I would say give this place a try and go support them. It's a cool spot and I recommend. Your kids will have a great time. read more

The worse pumpkin patch if your child has ADA needs. The carousel operator has a chip on his shoulder and no empathy. The owner claims to have a child with disabilities but doesnt understand that people with Autism have a hard time waiting. Very unorganized and unprofessional. I don't ever complain but the carousel operator is a disrespectful human that needs to find another job that doesn't involve human interaction because he's just plain bitter. I am here as i write this, I paid $75 for 5 ppl, the only activities for the $15 entrance is the carousel, train ride and a push cart that has a height limit which 3 of my kids are over the limit. The train isn't working so, the only activity available is the carousel for my kids, UNLESS I want to pay $10 for the mining or $3 for a carnival game. They don't know when or if the train will be back at all, so because your equipment is faulty, I paid $75 for unlimited carousel use. Yay! The El Dorado Frontier is Long Beach's most adorable, fun place for toddlers and preschoolers. Their Pumpkin Patch during Halloween has beautiful decorations, and for $17 per person, you get unlimited train & carousel rides. The hand-painted decorations are something to behold--so cute and unique. All of the folks working there were dressed in Western costumes, and stayed "in character" throughout our visit. We were there for two hours, but my four year old wanted to stay for longer. There was a food truck serving Cuban food, but we didn't get to check it out. Looked yummy, though. Been coming here every weekend a few years since my son loves to ride the train. The prices are fair for a few hours of entertainment, and the memories I've made there with my son are priceless. There's a few rides and games, plus panning for gold, but the train is always the main attraction. The owners have put a lot of work into fixing things up and improving the area, and it's clearly a labor of love for them. It's great to have a local spot like this that is personal and educational. We love all the rotating events, like Tooba the Bigfoot and the tin type artist. The Dole Whips are also great and save us a trip to Disneyland. read more

The train ride is fun, the carousel is fast! The pump cars were a hit too. The employees were exceptionally kind and made our visit even more pleasant. While it was smaller than I expected, our kids had enjoyed themselves and didn't want to leave. We went on a Friday and were happy to hear that we avoided the crowds. Typically, I don't typically post reviews but potential visitors need to know what they are getting themselves into before deciding to pay the admission fee. First and foremost, $15 per person including all children regardless of age. Unless you plan on going on the carousel and train for countless hours, this place is a quick 30-45 minute "amusement park". Secondly, there are only 2 working rides (carousel and train) and a pan handling activity center (that is not part of admission fee). There is a fourth ride that was closed. No eateries, except for snacks and drinks sold from a ticket counter. All in all, I would only want to come back if they opened up the playground free of admission and charged only for the rides (similar to carnival format). OR, charge adults and allow children up to a certain age enter free. At the minimum, offer some complimentary beverage or snack for the families. For what this place offers after paying car entrance fee to get into park grounds, it is very difficult for me to justify paying $15 per individual to come here to have my kids only enjoy 1-2 rides. read more

This is cute little place is tucked away in the corner of Long Beach's city park. Throughout the park, little details in the buildings and decor really sell the wild west theming but don't expect Knott's calico ghost town or Disneyland frontier-land quality. As of 2022, vehicle entry fee (parking fee) is $8 and admission costs $15 per person regardless of age. Admission give you unlimited access to the 2 rides. The carousel has an audio track that does a good job adding a story to this otherwise mundane ride. The El Dorado Express train ride also has an audio track but it is nearly impossible to hear. The train follow along the edge of the 605 freeway, so all I could hear was the sound of passing traffic. Things I wish they could do that would have bumped this up to a 5 star experience: 1. The prospector's cart ride should be included with the $15 admission price 2. Add a show scene to the train ride, like some generic lawn decor from Home Depot. There is plenty of room along the course of the track. Otherwise, all we see is 605 freeway traffic 3. Give us at least 1 more ride or activity to do read more

Came here with my son today. I was looking around for employee to ask how much would it be to ride the train. Got approached by employee WOMAN brown hair wearing EYEGLASSES who works in the ticket booth. Very rude towards me saying I didn't have a wristband. I was asking her a simple question "how much would it be to ride the train" she kept saying I see you don't have a wristband" how did you enter". . I said from the park I paid my parking ticket and said she needed PROOF to see I paid my parking ticket because she couldn't take my word for it. She said "we are not part of the park" i told her that made sense and i walked away. I was so confused it was my first time there. She could have been FRIENDLY and specific how tickets work in that area you cannot enter without "wristband " NOT EVEN to look around I'm guessing that is her FIRST job and still learning about customer service. Save your money and go to Irvine regional park it's free with friendly employees who love their jobs. And to the lady in the ticket booth area work on your customer service and the customer is always right don't acuse them of lying about a parking ticket. A simple ma'am, you need a waistband to be in this area would have been fine and I would have purchased one instead she went on about parking ticket and wristband didn't provide information! First and foremost, I want to give kudos and a appreciative shout out to the train conductor today. He has an instinct for train lovers. We arrived a bit after 3 and had about enough time for only 3 rides. Every staff members was friendly and pleasant. Back to the conductor... my family of 4 rode the train once. After that we only had time for 1 more ride. My non-verbal 5 year old with autism loves trains and it was a no brainer that he would go on one last ride. The conductor brought him and his step dad to the car right behind him and he was thrilled to be up there! He even had my little one pull the train whistle a few times. Just that small little going out of his way from the conductor melted my heart, to see his actions impact my child. I've never been this disappointed and given this type of negative review. I've been meaning to take my son here and we finally went for the first time and spent less than 30 mins. I should have listened to friends/people that have been here not to go. It's expensive and not even worth it. $8 to get into the park on weekends, $5 admission per person and $25 for 10 tickets. The older lady told us that we could use it to train ride for the 3 of us and 1 carousel ride for my son. We ended up taking the train and when we went to the carousel and the guy said it's 2 tickets, which then said I needed one more ticket to ride. So I explained to him what the lady said and he then asked us to wait and talked to that lady and I then walked to them. The lady changed her story and said "I even explained it to your husband" which was a lie cuz my husband and i was together when we paid up front. So I asked what we gonna do with one left over ticket since they don't sell individually, she goes, "save it for future". No we are not coming back and I now know why people don't recommend this place. We basically paid $35 to go on a 5 mins train ride. They are so adamant about the tickets and don't even sell tix individually. So we ended leaving cuz there's nothing else for us to do, unless you have to spend more money! read more

There's also a couple cute games and gold pan mining. The train is a good 12 min long and the carousel is a good length both have cute stories while you ride. There is also a picnic area.
