The carne asada fries tasted amazing! And you can get any of their burritos in a bowl, which I was very thankful for! The drink options are limited. I enjoyed everything here. Also the bands that played tonight were most enjoyable. The people who worked here were nice and did a great job. read more

Y'all do NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!!! AMAZING!!!!!Mark, the chef/owner puts his love into the food. The carnitas are where you can tell. I have made them from scratch and he does a 6 HOUR BRAISE!! You CAN taste the herbs and flavors in it!! He's not trying to fit in one type of cuisine. Mark is inspired and while most restaurants hide their proteins with sauces, not him. El Cucuy uses sauces as they SHOULD to elevate the food. RUN DON'T WALK HERE!! Save me a spot though and some elote because my wife will get mad if I don't bring her some!!! read more

El Cucuy was great on all fronts. Super friendly folks working there, nice little spot to eat inside, and a delicious burrito; perfect for late night dinner. I highly recommend it! read more

My favorite thing is the "pesadilla" (taquitos) I would always get them at the food truck and then they moved the item to the storefront only...when I tried them in store they didn't taste the same :( From the food truck we recently ordered a chicken and cheese *only* quesadilla with chips and queso. (we asked if this would be okay and they said yes) it came full of peppers. Another favorite the queso-it was chunky and were given a tiny handful of chips. Hopefully just an off night cause I've always enjoyed it before. read more

Cute, kitschy place, but overpriced and overcooked. We had the quesaburria and el cucuy burrito. The quesaburria was dry and overcooked. The cuchuy burrito for the size and cost is an insult. It was dry, small, and not worth the price. For the cost and size of the burritos, they should come with a side or chips or something. For thr taste and quality, it's what you could get at a fast food, americanized mexican restaurant. The burrito needed some salsa on the side to dip, not an additional cost. The limes that came with the tacos were miniscule and comical in nature because they didn't even offer a drop of flavor. Not worth the cost. read more

Visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Denton. We decided to look for a local place for breakfast and came across El Cucuy Burrito. What an amazing find All 4 of us give their food a high thumbs up. Don't judge their watery looking salsa it is delicious This restaurant also has a fun and inviting atmosphere. Everything was super yummy My daughter and son-in-law talked about returning for lunch and dinner. We can't wait to visit again so we can also go for lunch and dinner We highly recommend El Cucuy Burritos. read more

Just an FYI...I don't like to leave bad reviews but...on March 14, I booked El Cucuy Burritos via "Mark" for an event on Friday, April 4. They were a no show! Not only a no show but I have reached out to them multiple times via multiple ways (messenger, email, phone voicemail, texting), I've had other people reach out to them as well, and they refuse to even respond. Just a warning...do not try to book them for your event! read more

Awesome California-style burritos with some great, unusual ingredients. I love the Chupacabra, a lamb burrito with a sweet blackberry jam. The queso is delicious, though can be inconsistent -- I've had it with varying levels of spice and consistency. Lately the trucks have had issues with supply -- i.e. not having tortilla chips and other things. I've gotten to know the owner a little and he's a swell guy. The recipes are all his, and when they're available and executed well (which they usually are) this is a great burrito truck. Between the two trucks and the restaurant, El Cucuy is a true local Denton staple. 4 stars, 4.5 if things were a little more consistent. read more

This place is great! food is delicious, atmosphere is great and the employees are super friendly!

French fries in a burrito?!? I suppose it's an excellent way to add filler while scimping on the more important things. The meat(what little there was) was poorly seasoned, the sauce was bland, etc, etc, etc. The burrito tasted like undercooked Ore Ida fries and not much else. Between this place and In-N-Out I've come to the conclusion that Californians are weird and lack taste buds. read more

This food truck is the real thing!!! I got carne asada fries and a melon agua Fresca. These fries are the best I've had in Texas since moving from San Diego!!! The ingredients are great quality and they cook everything from scratch. The Agua Fresca was deliciously fresh and perfectly sweetened. The customer service is top notch as well... you have definitely gained a new customer, I know where to go now when I'm craving burritos or carne asada fries. We also got a huge Halloween chocolate cookie with m&m and Oreos inside, we ate that too fast and didn't take a pic. read more

When I saw this truck on the list at East Side, I was excited. First, I saw the name and I already liked it. When I saw the menu, I was over the moon. It hit home for me because I am a Latina and growing up we heard the legends of El Cucuy and La Llorona, so I was excited to see the Hispanic representation. We (me and a whole group of friends) decided to go to East Side and try it out last Friday. I got the Carne Asada fries, horchata, and a cookie. It was all delicious. The flavors were on point. Of course, we had to go back yesterday and bring some new friends. We all ordered from the truck. Some got burritos and the others got Carne Asada fries. They were all talking about how delicious the food was. Guess where we are going next Friday? Back to East Side to hit up the El Cucuy Truck. We highly recommend it. read more

California transplant here. Their carne asada fries here are immaculate. I am obsessed. Never have I tasted something so delicious, crispy, fresh, creamy-- just a perfect blend of flavors. We also tried their Cucuy and carnitas burritos. They were also delicious. The star of the show were the asada fries. The service was great, owner was attentive and friendly. The restaurant was clean and edgy. I know they have 2 food trucks but in this heat we really enjoyed being able to sit own in an AC'ed place. MUST TRY read more

El Cucuy's transition from Food Truck to Brick and Mortar restaurant was a splendid idea! I ate there yesterday with a friend. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was top-notch. The queso blanco was amazing and is now my favorite queso in Denton. I haven't even mentioned the El Cucuy pink walls with murals! It's a site to see! Go. eat. at. El. Cucuy. asap! You will not regret it! Also, the owner is super nice! read more

Very dissatisfied with the burrito I ordered. No taste and meat was almost non-existent. More tortilla than anything else. Salsa was good.

Everybody at this food truck has been working so hard and have been super accommodating! The food is incredible and I believe the price to be quite reasonable for the taste and portioning. My first time there I ordered their most popular burrito being the El Cucuy (carne asada/steak). It had an absolute incredible taste and was completely loaded! Then at my second go around I tried something completely different from anything I'd usually order. They have a vegan burrito called the El Impostor. I am not vegetarian or vegan, but the recipe they use on their homemade piccadillo is the greatest plant based protein i have ever experienced. Since I'm not vegan, I asked to add some cheese and they were more than willing to meet the request. You guys are doing amazing! Everybody go get the most phenomenal California Burritos in Texas!!! (Also, don't forget to add a side of carne fries to share. You won't regret it, I Promise!) read more
