Y'all do NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!!! AMAZING!!!!!Mark, the chef/owner puts his love into the food. The carnitas are where you can tell. I have made them from scratch and he does a 6 HOUR BRAISE!! You CAN taste the herbs and flavors in it!! He's not trying to fit in one type of cuisine. Mark is inspired and while most restaurants hide their proteins with sauces, not him. My favorite thing is the "pesadilla" (taquitos) I would always get them at the food truck and then they moved the item to the storefront only...when I tried them in store they didn't taste the same :( From the food truck we recently ordered a chicken and cheese *only* quesadilla with chips and queso. (we asked if this would be okay and they said yes) it came full of peppers. Another favorite the queso-it was chunky and were given a tiny handful of chips. Cute, kitschy place, but overpriced and overcooked. We had the quesaburria and el cucuy burrito. The quesaburria was dry and overcooked. The cuchuy burrito for the size and cost is an insult. It was dry, small, and not worth the price. For the cost and size of the burritos, they should come with a side or chips or something. For thr taste and quality, it's what you could get at a fast food, americanized mexican restaurant. The burrito needed some salsa on the side to dip, not an additional cost. The limes that came with the tacos were miniscule and comical in nature because they didn't even offer a drop of flavor. Not worth the cost. read more

Awesome California-style burritos with some great, unusual ingredients. I love the Chupacabra, a lamb burrito with a sweet blackberry jam. The queso is delicious, though can be inconsistent -- I've had it with varying levels of spice and consistency. Lately the trucks have had issues with supply -- i.e. not having tortilla chips and other things. I've gotten to know the owner a little and he's a swell guy. The recipes are all his, and when they're available and executed well (which they usually are) this is a great burrito truck. Between the two trucks and the restaurant, El Cucuy is a true local Denton staple. 4 stars, 4.5 if things were a little more consistent. read more

The ingredients are great quality and they cook everything from scratch. The Agua Fresca was deliciously fresh and perfectly sweetened. The customer service is top notch as well... you have definitely gained a new customer, I know where to go now when I'm craving burritos or carne asada fries. When I saw this truck on the list at East Side, I was excited. First, I saw the name and I already liked it. When I saw the menu, I was over the moon. It hit home for me because I am a Latina and growing up we heard the legends of El Cucuy and La Llorona, so I was excited to see the Hispanic representation. We (me and a whole group of friends) decided to go to East Side and try it out last Friday. I got the Carne Asada fries, horchata, and a cookie. It was all delicious. The flavors were on point. Of course, we had to go back yesterday and bring some new friends. We all ordered from the truck. Some got burritos and the others got Carne Asada fries. Everybody at this food truck has been working so hard and have been super accommodating! The food is incredible and I believe the price to be quite reasonable for the taste and portioning. My first time there I ordered their most popular burrito being the El Cucuy (carne asada/steak). It had an absolute incredible taste and was completely loaded! Then at my second go around I tried something completely different from anything I'd usually order. They have a vegan burrito called the El Impostor. I am not vegetarian or vegan, but the recipe they use on their homemade piccadillo is the greatest plant based protein i have ever experienced. Since I'm not vegan, I asked to add some cheese and they were more than willing to meet the request. You guys are doing amazing! Everybody go get the most phenomenal California Burritos in Texas!!!
