¡¡WARNING BE CAUTIOUS IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON MOVING TO EL CORDOVA!! These apartments used to be nice, clean and peaceful. Now they're just GHETTO. I've been here over 10+ years and this is the worst I've seen it. The sauna has been out of service for over 2 years. Every other weekend there's a party at the pool with 15+ people there that don't live in the apartments . I can't even enjoy some peace at the pool, they have loud music, drinking liquor and getting drunk. Very out of control with kids around. Unacceptable. Also the pool isn't always clean. Takes about a month for the pool to be cleaned because the manager doesn't agree with the price the pool guy is charging and chose not to pay in the middle of summer. Thanks for that The washers and dryers always go out, they're always out of service. They need to replace them with new ones and they also have the nerve to raise the price of the washer and driers. There's 300 apartments and only 10 washers and dryers. Doesn't add up. The coyote situation is really bad. My neighbor had his cat unalived by one and they're constantly here attacking and eating cats, not just one it's a pack of coyotes. And the managers don't care to call animal control. Those coyotes can attack a small dog or even a child playing outside and still don't care for the safety of their community. They are dangerous! The gates are always breaking and that allows outsiders to come in the community and break in and steal peoples vehicles and personal property, which has happened before and is a constant issue Young kids come in and hang out and smoke weed and managers don't care to ask if they even live here. The kids playground has been closed for the past 6 months because a pipe was clogged and they still haven't made any effort to fix it. Their dog policy is 30lbs limit. But they don't check, you have people in there with Great Danes and cane corsos walking around. And not all are friendly let me tell you. A lot of tenants move out but little are moving in and that's for a reason. They need to bring back Jack. He took care of anything and everything in his power to have these apartments and the community happy. read more

As a former resident living here was rather exceptional. Debra has been an amazing supervisor to say the least! She has always made herself available and helped me. This place is huge and it's super well-kept--everything's clean, the landscaping always looks nice, and it just feels like people care. It's also great for pet owners. I love taking my dog out for evening walks. It's so peaceful and quiet. The vibe here is friendly, and the staff is awesome!! Cassandra, the property manager, is especially great. She's always kind, easy to talk to, and really on top of things. You can tell she puts in the effort to make sure everything runs smoothly. Honestly wouldnt want to live anywhere else. Best property management company I've worked so far having lived in Santa Monica, Long Beach and Carson in a spam of 8 years. I lived in this apartment complex for 3 years and really enjoyed my time here. The property is beautiful, apartments have great storage. We visited for a tour. Shayla was more than kind and helpful. The complex is very well kept and gardens are beautiful.

Although it's a large complex the property is very well maintained. It's clean with no trash lying around on the ground. Trees are trimmed regularly. The property is pet friendly. Owners walk their pets on a leash and pick up their poop and dispose it in the bins. At night the pets are quiet. I never hear barking. It's a friendly community. Cassandra the property manager is great. She's very professional, kind and always smiling. She takes care of business. I enjoy living here. read more

Very much loved living here and I'm so sad to go. Moving for work but the el Cordova community is great. It's insanely quiet and clean. The dog park was a huge sell for me. Great dog park and pool. I didn't use the gym but a 24 hour fitness is across the street. Target. IKEA. Everything. So handy. Close to the freeway. The airport. Parking is great. Couldn't say better things about this place. Run from this place as fast as you can!! First lived there back in 2019 and man it was NOTHING like the manager sold/told us. Lied straight through his teeth about the noise level, mind you we had a NEWBORN, and we wouldn't have moved if we had known there's literally an ambulance hub right across the street!!! He lied about the safety of the place, there was a helicopter hovering of the place at least once a week. The manager had our cable/wifi wire CUT without my consent because he didn't like the way the cable company did it which lead to my account going to collections because the manager refused to pay for that month even though I had no service due to his actions!! The parking was awful. Many people got tickets on the street, some even got towed. I even got towed INSIDE MY OWN parking spot because I forgot to put my sticker on my car but my car was registered with the apartment complex so who could have called the tow truck if I wasn't in anybodys spot but my own? I don't know but it cost me hundreds. That was back when you got 2 free parking spots inside. Fast forward 2022, we were desperate and tried to apply and boy did we dodge a bullet. You have to pay for the second parking spot now. Carson is trying to overpopulate the city so it's gotten 5x louder with the thousands of new residents. The water is polluted due to unlawful building and the air is TOXIC. Seriously. Smells like sh*t lots of times tbh. They take your application fee and run with it. AWFUL communication by those in the office. Had to call myself a week later only to find out they CANCELLED my application and didn't even call me about it! Stay far away from this place!! read more

If I could give a ZERO review I would! I should have never came back for a second tour and signed a lease. All the reviews you see on El Cordova is true! 1. Maintenance comes in your apartment without notifying you, leaves the apartment a complete mess, leaving you to clean up after them 2. My move in was a disaster! I work in property management & to see how filthy the apartment was, I was disgusted. Carpets not cleaned (I had to reach out to a vendor myself to have it cleaned), dishwasher and oven still dirty, the tub was like a mud bath happened in it daily, counter tops were dirty. Living through Covid how could management think this was safe and healthy for a new resident 3. Cable box was outdated and not compatible with newer TVs. Told management and Denise said "well you'll have to go to Spectrum or ATT" luckily April in the leasing office saw the error on my TV and called Dish network 4. Kitchen Sink was rusted and dirty, and I told Denise and she said they don't clean that. REALLY?! How can you move someone in and say that! There is more to complain about. They made me move in earlier than what I originally signed the lease for & the apartment was not ready! Going on a month and I am still trying to settle in. Moved in last July. Nice apartment, spacious rooms, good community with a nice pool. My mother and I were enjoying our stay. We had to relocate for 6 weeks so they could do construction and paint the outside of our building. When we moved back into the apartment, there was mouse droppings everywhere... in the bathroom, in the bedrooms, in the closet. Keep in mind, we had no mice issues while we were actually staying in the apartment. After snapping some pics, vaccuuming, and cleaning the entire place, I went to my closet and saw that the mice had chewed up FOUR of my suit jackets. I instantly took those jackets with me to the office to speak to management. An assistant met with me, took pics of the jackets, and ordered mice traps to be put in our apartment. She completely acknowldged the mice issue and told me to report it to my renters insurance company. I did that but animal damage was not covered in my insurance plan. So now what? I brought the jackets back and spoke to the head manager and he wouldn't budge. So let me summarize... my mother and I get relocated, come back to mouse poop all over the place and around $8000 worth of damaged wool suit jackets, and we don't compensated at all in any way. No compromise when the whole situation was completely out of our control. Even then I tried to take the loss in stride and live out the rest of my lease peacefully. Well, the mice never left. I would be woken up every couple of nights to sounds of them scratching and moving through pipes or wherever they were. It was disgusting. A week later, we get notice that they're going to raise the rent from $2015 a month to $2300. Right away we knew we were moving out. My mentality was to get the deposit back and move on. I did the deposit walk through and everything went well. "You left the place in really good condition." I had already vaccuumed and swept up all the newest mouse droppings. Out of the $1,000 I deposited, I received a check back today for $283. Now I'm all the way done. All I needed was my deposit back and I wouldn't have even taken the time to expose the ridiculousness of this whole experience. They tried to raise my rent and say I owed them back pay from a few months prior for a total of about 1,000 bucks. Went to the main office to get it sorted out but they didn't want to admit they made a mistake after they talked with their head office and their "legal department". Ended up having to file a claim in small claims court in order to get my money back. They caved in once they got served my small claims from the local police department and they called me back saying that their "legal department" reviewed my case again and decided I was right all along. I got a full refund of my money back finally after spending almost a hundred in court fees. Long story short don't let these guys push you around the law is on your side. The only reason why I gave this place two stars is because for the first three years everything was fine. Also the front office assistants, not the management, are awesome and very friendly and helpful. It wasn't until they got new managment a year ago that I had these big issues. The managment problem could be solved by now for all I know but I didn't want to post something right away in case they were going try and screw me over on a new application for another apartment. read more

We have been living here for about five months and absolutely love it. From the start, Jack welcomed us and was very helpful from giving us a tour of the grounds, to moving quickly with our application, and getting us settled into our new place. His customer service is outstanding. He is very attentive to our needs and always provides a solution to any issue we've had while being here. For example, Jack went out of his way to find me a closer parking spot to our apartment because I was pregnant at the time and knew I'd feel better being closer, especially once our baby was born. Jack always follows up the next day of a maintenance request to make sure we were taken care of and we're happy. We hope Jack never leaves the El Cordova office! read more

The new management has done a great job fixing this place up. The pool area and gym have new updated equipment. My new apartment has updated appliances, new paint and carpet, and refurbished hardwood flooring. Jack and Noah have done an excellent job communicating with me and making me feel welcomed. Jack was super personable, flexible, honest and professional throughout the whole process. He was everything you need in a property manager. The area is quiet and the neighbors are very friendly. I started my lease here and I have to say I am impressed by the unit and the staff. I've stayed in horrific apartment complexes and this one is a breathe of fresh air. Notable staff I want to mention is Jack. Jack has been very welcoming, efficient, and kind throughout the whole process. Jack pushes through everything to give possible lessees the best experience for their lease. He came to work injured and still worked extra hard. He's a tough guy, and he made sure that my wife and I had everything we wanted and needed for our apartment. Overall, the apartments are nice, bathroom is exceptionally great, you have your very own patio, and lots of space. Also, the community is kind, your very own parking space, pool, good gym with a sauna, free grills to have family bbq, lots of safe parking on the outside, close to mall, and excellent laundry room, pets allowed. So, Stacey was completely nice and informative. As a black women myself I know we have to be the kindest and keep our mouths shut if a privileged manager is there. Which he was very dismissive and disrespectful and gave me misinformation. Which this apartment complex should under investigation. The manager jack, gave me Britney's number to call, apparently she just left. The moment we walked in, and said we can provide everything he literally just got off the phone with the regional manager. They say they don't discriminate but Jack had a very rude attitude when he could have called the lady who supposedly left for the day to hold the apartment. But that would be a waste of time. I will definitely be calling renters rights. My boyfriend was there as a witness. Whoever said he responds quickly maybe was something that was fake written but he never called back, they didn't even answer the phones when Stacy said that he stepped out. But for reason I knew he wasn't going to call back. This would be a great apartment for my son and we did everything legally and everything Jack informed us to do to get the apartment to tell us he's not giving us the apartment while talking to the Regional manager who could have helped. read more

The people in the office at El Cordova have gone ABOVE and BEYOND helping me and family. I am work today and couldn't get in touch with my teen child at home. I called the office in a panic and they actually WENT to my apartment and knocked on my door for me! Where else can you find a place that is so invested in making sure the residents are happy and well taken care of. That's just today! There have been several others ways that they have helped me personally. I am so sad to leave. I have been living at El Cordova for 2 months now and I must say my experience here has been great. Jack, Denise and April were phenomenal is submitting my application and they made it very easy. Every time I called, I was greeted with a friendly voice and had quick follow up. When I needed to submit work orders to fix things in the apartment, it was resolved right away. The management team here is friendly, personable and professional. My favorite things about Cordova is the landscape, so much green everywhere + I get to have my puppy with me. Plenty of renovations on the property have taken place near the pool area, but the gym needs new equipment; they're run down and old. Hopefully we get safe & new equipment soon. Lastly, I wished we recycled here. I feel terrible that tons of recycled materials go to the trash and the negative environment impact it has on the community as a whole. We can and should do better for our environment. Overall I enjoy living here. read more

I wish that I could give this place zero stars, because even one star is being too kind. I have never given a poor review on yelp before, but this is something I HAVE to write. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! The office staff is deceitful and dishonest. They don't even know the beginning of what the words "Customer Service" means. They do not care for their residents, nor for trying to keep their residents on long term. They have very high turnover rate. Prepare for the bottoms of your feet to turn pure black with dirt when you move-in. The place was so filthy when we moved in. They must've had it cleaned months before we moved in. You'll have to live in shoes because the floors never get clean. During the tour they will deceive you into thinking that everyone there gets laundry hook ups. NOT TRUE. Only some units have them but they fail to mention this minor details to anyone. When you find out you moved into a unit that doesn't have hook ups, they try to make you feel better by saying that now your gas bill won't be as high. and they also claim that they did tell you. They'll even call you on your cell phone and leave you a 2 minute long voicemail that you're wrong and they're right because they "Specifically told you." They offered to have the maintenance staff move all of our stuff into a new unit with washer/dryer hook ups. We would've had to move again and make the maintenance staff suffer due to the dishonest office staff's error. *Also be ready to see "Out of Order" signs every time you're in the laundry rooms on site. They're almost always down. They also LIE and say that they don't do anything shorter than a 12 month lease. It isn't until you ask specifically for a number of months and then they will say yes. They lie so much, I don't know how they still have their jobs. It is beyond me. They have zero surveillance. No cameras anywhere on site and property lights are almost always burned out. They obviously don't walk the property at night to look for burned out bulbs. Your guests will have no where to park and if they do find street parking you have to walk out to meet them at the street every single time to use your gate clicker to let them in. There are no pedestrian gates on almost all sides of the property. Then when your guests are leaving you have to walk them back out, get your gate clicker from your car and click open the gate for them to leave. It is so absurd. Rob will tell you that if you clean your unit you can get a pass on the cleaning charge. We spent an entire saturday deep cleaning our unit. We cleaned all the windows, steam cleaned the floors, wiped and sanitized everything. That place looked far more amazing and much cleaner than when it was given to us. We still had to pay a $60 cleaning fee because the "blinds were not wiped down." Also they charge you a painting fee to have the entire unit painted even if you did not even touch a single wall or hang anything up. You still will have to pay the standard fee to have it all re-painted. Rob also told me that would be $140 but instead turned out to be $160. Because they re-paint the entire unit after every move-out the walls are so thick with high-gloss paint. It looks awful and it is this awful off-yellow color on every wall. The cupboards too are so thick with layers of paint that they can no longer close. All of our cupboards were constantly open. You could literally see large globs and drips of paint that dried because of how much paint they put on everything. Whoever they have re-paint clearly does not know how to do a seamless job. They removed a tree right outside our patio with a "24 hour notice" which was really put up the night before they took down the tree at 8 a.m. So really it was a 1/4 day notice. The tree gave us some privacy and divide between us and the parking lot and without giving us any real notice or informing us of why the tree was being removed it was gone before we could even talk to anyone about it. If you're looking for a peaceful and quiet place to live, this is so not it. You can hear everyones TV's, music, video games etc. You are surrounded by barking dogs and loud maintenance staff workers on their walkie-talkies. ALSO if you have the luxury of living right next to the parking lot, good luck with ever having any peace and quiet. They charge you a monthly pet fee- per month, per pet. What they don't tell you is they need a 30 day notice if your pet no longer lives with you. I have never heard this before in all my life NOR could they find anywhere in their lease where it states such an asanine rule. Also they charge you a $75 pet-scan when you move out. They fail to mention this to you as well because they are not up-front nor do they take the time to educate their residents on their policies and procedures. They act as if you should've known and it's common sense. There's so much more to say, but sadly I have ran out of characters to warn others about this sad, awful place. read more

So I left a review about a week or so ago that "magically disappeared" so I figured I'd leave it again. Please do yourself a big favor and stay away from this place. Here's my experience over the past 6 months. 1. I was asked to move out of my apartment for 6 weeks, 1 week before Christmas. Although, I was given another apartment in the meantime, it wasn't as being in my own home over the holiday. 2. The day after I moved from my apartment, I was told that I would lose my washer/dryer hookups, one of my reasons for taking the apartment in the first place. No warning, and nothing that I could do to change the situation. 3. Assigned parking has been taken away. If I get home too late, I have to fight for parking or worse yet park on the street. As a single woman, I don't feel that is safe. And, if I wanted to have a guest, they have trouble finding parking as well. 4. After taking away the amenities that kept me living here, last week I got a letter letting me know that they were raising my rent over $250 a month. Now I get it, you're a business, you can charge what you want for rent. But I really don't think that these apartments are worth the $$$ just because they put some paint on the outside. read more

This our sweet home for the last two years. It's a great apartment community that is gated and safe. After renovation, the brand new buildings give us comforts. We are quite happy about the new look. I love the pool, jacuzzi and gym area. It's nice to have a good time in the jacuzzi after work. I use the gym like once a week. It's right there so I don't need to drive to a gym outside. The gym even has a sauna room. The on-site staff and maintenance team are very professional, friendly and caring. We are friends with most of the team members. We have also become friends with our neighbors. Good people are living here. There is a on-site patrol at night. One of them is Francis, who is my friend and a very good man. We talked a lot during our laundry night. The other two patrols are also very nice gentlemen. The apartments are close to 405, 110, and 710 freeways, and decent distances to Harbor Gateway Transit Center and Metro Blue Line. I used to take them to work. The 1 min drive to Target, IKEA and Cinemark Carson, JCPenny is really convenient. They are all there in the Shopping Center just across the street. Walmart is also around the Corner. I'm a student in CSUDH, which is just 5 min drive from here. This is my true review on this community. The management team has changed at least twice. I've witnessed two terms of office. First manager is Eddie and second is Dwayne. Hello Yelpers! Are you looking for a new home? I found a great apartment for you. I've been living here for a year now with my girlfriend and we really enjoy the unit and amenities provided by the apartment. Amenities include 24hour washer and dryer, indoor fitness gym, indoor sauna and shower, hot tub, pool, a little dog park (pet-friendly), and another outdoor fitness area. Water and trash are paid for with the rent. For the price, you get a lot. We live in a 1 bedroom unit for $1485/month. There were some troublesome events that did occur, but management was quick to respond. The water pipe burst underneath our floor coming from the water heater. We didn't know this happened until we received our electricity bill of $800! We quickly went to the management office after double checking if we've left anything on for the past month. They quickly identified the problem as a pipe burst and promptly attended to the matter that day. The repair was completed in 1 day and the cleaners came the next day. We stayed at a hotel for two nights and were reimbursed for the electricity bill + 2 hotel nights within 3 weeks. We returned to an immaculate clean home and repaired water pipe with new floors :) Despite the hassle, we were very happy the fix was done immediately and we weren't responsible for the bill! It's been 1 year now and we still appreciate the apartment and management, but we just found out all the office managers were replaced and the maintenance manager. We were sad to hear this and we hope they find another job soon to make others life easier as they did for us! Happy living! read more

The El Cordova apartments I thought was a pleasure to reside in being born and raised in Carson but unfortunately during the renovation, I experienced pure rodent destruction and disaster. And under the management of Dwayne or whoever J. Who had no compassion no consideration and no empathy at all knowing that I was invaded by rodents who ruined my furniture and my sanity. I lived here for 17 years. When I first moved in they had real hardwood floors and reasonable rent. It was also close to the freeways. So, I decided to stay and my family lives in Carson. Over the years they have done updates here and there. When it was sold to PMA they did exterior renovations. But, they did not do much inside the units. They did change all the floorings to vinyl. I initially lived in a one bedroom and moved to a two bedroom. I was in my two bedroom when PMA took over the property. When my lease was up my rent went from $2000 to $2400 for a year lease. Since, it was just me and my husband we decided maybe we should just downsize to a one bedroom. But, I was told we cannot do that. During this time a lot of the tenants were moving out. Eventhough I would prefer to stay we decided to find another place. But, I also e-mailed corporate to ask if they do have a policy of not allowing tenants to move from a two to a one bedroom. Of course, no response. Funny thing when I told the property manager then that I was not renewing my lease and moving out he then said we can downsize. Huh? Well, we decided to stay because I really hate moving. But, last year when our lease was up for renewal my month to month lease went up from $1800 to $2700. I would need to sign a year lease for a $1900 a month rent. Basically, were being hijacked to sign a year lease. One bedroom at $2700 with no additional improvements to the unit and a laundry room that had no working washer dryer most of the time? Seriously? We were lucky by that time we found a house. Just in time, before our lease was up. I hope they have better and nicer management now. They had a high turn over of property managers. The only one I liked was Eddie. Those after him were too condescending. The only plus of this apartment complex is the location. The reason why I lived there for 17 years. But, if you're going to charge a luxury apartment price at least improve your amenities. $2700 for a one bedroom. So this coronavirus has caused them to shut down the pool area, gym, sauna, and bbq grills. Why tf are we still paying almost 2K for a one bedroom that comes w absolutely no amenities, not to mention that some residents are struggling financially w no assistance? And then they send a notice stating we cant have a small grill outside our patio? Well then why are we still paying for these amenities that arent available??? Washers and dryers are always broken to the point where we dont even wash clothes here anymore. Rent needs to be tentatively reduced until this virus is gone or you guys open up what we're paying for!!! Its always something w this place. read more

Me and my husband we've been living here for like almost two years, we didn't sign a new contract after the first year but recently we received a letter to renew the contract and the price is going up like $400, this place is comfortable but not worth the almost $2,000 for a one bed one bath place. Throughout all these time the things that we've been struggling is that they are always closing down the Parking lots for renovation but they don't do a good job so I guess that's why they are closing it down so often. Since we moved they closed it down for like a month, and then someone hit one of the poles for the covered parking and that area was closed for at least 4 months and obviously it was less spaces for us to park, when they finally fixed it they had the great idea to put some poles (I guess to prevent it from another hit) but they are super bad aligned, I've seen a lot of cars hitting them. They recently closed it down again to fix the potholes and it took another day and a half without parking and a month after they are doing again and who knows when they will finish doing it and painting the lines on the floor. Another issue is that the laundry and dryer machines not all of them work properly, some of them have the "out of service" note but honestly not all of them work properly, sometimes you thing your clothes are ready and when you check the laundry machine they didn't rinse or the dryer machine didn't dry your clothes and they are still wet. They recently changed the management staff but in the past with Dwayne staff we had some issues with the payments, we are very punctual paying the rent and services but it happened once they submitted a check late for the services and they charged us late payment fees, I went to talk to them and show when the check was issued but they kept charging us for that late fee couple more months after (we never paid it cause it wasn't our fault and they were aware of that). The new staff seems more helpful and they could actually take care of this for us, they seem to be more on top of everything. Other Than that the community is always clean, the maintenance team takes good care of the inside and outside green areas, they have security in the night as well. The location is pretty good, It is close to the 405, 110 and 91 fwy. The mall is right across the street, there is restaurants, shops, gas stations and banks. read more

This is probably one of the worst apt I have ever lived in. I would NOT recommend, while living here I did not have a parking space for 6 months due to the apt not fixing the spot before I moved in that I was not credited for, had leaks every single time it rained, the parking lot was frequently closed for renovations causing everyone to either park on a packed street (one time causing me to get a ticket) or the laundry rooms are closed, both at the same time for renovations for some reason. Why close both, that makes no sense. I once got a leak so bad I had to actually make an insurance claim because my things got destroyed, and then I had to live with my living room in plastic the week of Thanksgiving to have the ceiling and wall fixed , and when I said its been a week already and before a holiday I was told something along the lines of "it's a holiday for the workers so we will have to push it until after the holiday" as if it wasn't also a holiday for my family and I and it wasn't already a week that this had been going on. Do I get a refund on the days I was not able to use those rooms? No. On top of all of that being a constant nuisance, after I moved out, on the 31, they charge me until the 4th. The grounds are beautiful, but the pool and gym (which is very old by the way, and cardio machines usually broken) closes at 10p. But its very unorganized. Once I got a warning for eviction notice because they said my insurance policy wasn't up to date, when its on autopay and very much up to date. I had to contact my insurance company myself and send THEM over a copy of it, why? Another time they thought I was a new resident and sent me over all the information for new residents, maybe their disorganization is the reason for them not having my updated information, but that is not a reason to make people nervous thinking they will be evicted for no reason. They are also charging me a 4 day prorated fee saying I moved out 4 days after I clearly, CLEARLY stated what day I would move out on, I even moved out a day early. Not worth it, would not recommend to absolutely anyone on this entire planet!!!! read more
