El Cangrejo, meaning "the crab," with a regular infestations of imitation crabs adorning the walls. I don't know about you but seeing crabs in a gay bar, be they decorative, imitation or otherwise doesn't conjure up the best of thoughts in my mind.
It is gay bar with drag queen stage show comedy. Besides interior decorated with crabs on the walls, it has a bar at the entrance, a stage setting toward the middle and what may serve as another service bar towards the rear. It's closed during the days and only ramps up on weekend nights after 11:30pm. Their bartenders tend to be nothing but a bunch of second rate lackadaisical beer bottle opens just putting in their time rather than adding anything to the place.
The drag queens tend to be elderly, one of them I swear borrowed from a convalescent home, wearing garish cheap attire with screechy voices. Also, not all that funny. Most of their comedy is based upon picking someone from the audience then hitting them with a series of abrasive old time dated one liners from the 70's lacking in any originality or wit.
The staff also tends to cater to regulars ignoring the tourists or those unknown to them. read more
