We came here after walking out of another local eatery. We try not to eat at chain restaurants when we travel. My husband chose this place based on the menu. It's obviously a locals spot. Our server was nice enough. When my husband asked what type of fried they serve she didn't understand the question (shoestring, steak, curly). She said "regular fries". I had bacon and eggs (eggs over medium cooked correctly), he had the El Bambi burger. He asked for medium-rare and it came out medium. That's way better than the typical well done no matter what we get most places. Overall the food was cooked right like home made. Service was okay but nothing special. read more

Was served by a very nice waitress and the owners son I believe. The cinnamon roll French toast was really damn good; like worth a detour anyway good. I can see why this 50's diner gets such great reviews...simple... it's fantastic. The cheeseburger was probably one of the best I've ever had. Sure, you can say a cheeseburger is just a cheeseburger..but NO!!! Seriously, it was awesome. We opted to sit at the counter, since all the booths were taken, because locals know where to go. We had the best service, so good that I left a 50% tip. (Well, the bill only came to just over $20.00, so it wasn't THAT big of a tip). So if you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, or in this case Beaver, Utah... stop over to the El Bambi Cafe, you'll be happy you did. I kinda wish that we were going back to California the same way we got here just to stop there again.....but we're going another direction. Hopefully to find another great place to write about. P.S. Came during a rush hour (12) and they had enough staff so that the wait was much shorter than I expected. They close at 2 and offer a ~5% discount for paying with cash. We have absolutely loved and gone out of our way for years to eat the delicious food at El Bambi. My husband talks about their patty melt like it's the holy grail. We placed a very simple takeout order today on our way through town and when I came in to pick it up, I was blown away at how I was treated. I was patient as I waited a half an hour past when I was told it would be done-but when I followed up was told rudely they hadn't started the order. Passing through...got gas...my wife says "there is only Wendy's and Dennys here. I said, "what about the joint next door? Yelp says great things." 20 yr old daughter had biscuits and gravy, at least, I think she did, I blinked and they were gone. 12 year old son loves chain brand food, so he compared homemade bread and heavily salted chain beef to local grain fed beef and likes the chain meat better. I've also converted my husband so now he's just as obsessed as I am!! Everything is homemade and local. Biscuits and gravy are my absolute favorite always get them smothered. When my partner suggested I consult Yelp for the best breakfast in Beaver Utah I started laughing .Not entirely sure if it was the double entrendre or the ungodly hour we left Park City for our trek home to LA that elicited this reaction. As the super moon of nascent January disappeared behind the mountains and the sun began to rise ,the temperature plummeted to a toasty 7 degrees and we were all in need of comfort food. And so it was we weary travelers were guided by the holy grail of Yelp reviews and our crew rolled up to El Bambi, a name as inexplicable as the Disney character on its signage . Greeted at 7 am by the affable 'Michelle' whose ebullience was seconded only by her enthusiasm for the food ,it became evident that this quintessential diner was truly a family affair . Homemade Cinnamon French Toast, Homemade Biscuits and Gravy, a plethora of savory egg dishes and generous breakfast potatoes were prepared in house from scratch while the owner's young granddaughter took down the string of Christmas lights and Peanuts characters that added to the kitsch and throwback ambience of another era. Slowly the diner filled with morning regulars lending an air of comfort and familiarity to the already warm and welcoming atmosphere. Next time you find yourself road trippin' across the beautiful and diverse state of Utah , do stop at El Bambi, perched at the intersection of past and present, and enjoy the down home atmosphere and good , hearty unpretentious food. Suspended in time and apparently immune to the afflictions of modern society, El Bambi will transport you via a hot mug of coffee and a cinnamon roll to days gone by .You're unlikely to encounter any botox or basic bitches here. Traveling from northern to southern Utah we needed a break from driving through a snowstorm, and some food. When we walked in the door we were greeted with "we saw you outside, your table is all ready." The service here was so good! The ambience was pleasant also, with tons of framed black and white photos from Beaver's early days. And the food...it's classic heavy diner food, we stuck with breakfast as it was still early and the waitress made some recommendations. I ordered something called "The Hussle" which involved English Muffins, eggs, ham, and 'zesty cheese sauce;' it came with potatoes and it was damn good. Apparently the chef makes his own sausage and it was really tasty too. It kept us warm for the next three hours of our trip! Someone else's review was complaining about the coffee but I thought it was just fine. This is my new midpoint stop when driving from Provo to St. George. Beaver, UT - - What an AMAZING little cafe from the late 1940's your town has! Clam Chowder soup, Bambi burger, biscuits & gravy, and the eggs & bacon were absolutely delicious!! Both my boyfriend and I are over the road truck drivers and we stopped here to switch driving shifts at Ernie's. This little cafe did not disappoint for our meal. Breakfast was great! Hubster had steak and eggs and I had the cinnamon roll French toast. Hubster: steak was wonderful. Eggs cooked just right, yummy potatoes, and good toast. I liked this place. We are traveling across county and wanted to stop someplace that was normal, not a chain. This is definitely that. We wanted eggs - they had great omelets - I had the Denver and my husband had the Spanish. Both great. Sourdough bread toast which was very tasty, good thick bread. Totally tons of peppers, ham and onions in my omelet, husbands was so good he ate the whole thing. The service was great and the people were friendly. Oh, my gosh. What a cute little step back in time. We stopped in for lunch about 1:30 on a weekday. They close at 2 but the employees couldn't have been nicer! Everyone we encountered was cheery and kind. The bathroom was super clean. Now, the best part. I had the barbecue beef sandwich that was flavorful but not overly spicy. The fries were piping hot and cooked to perfection. Hubby had a cheeseburger that was a generous size with all the trimmings. We both really enjoyed the nice people, yummy food and atmosphere.
