I love visiting bookstores when I am traveling and this truly is one of the most beautiful bookstores I have ever been to. No entry fee and you can walk around and admire the beautiful space. We stopped by the cafe and enjoyed the views of the space from there. Also after a long time I found a spot that sold cds and vinyl records. Highly recommend! read more

Now I want to be very clear in my review. First el ateneo is the most beautifully converted books stores in the whole world...hands down. Multi level and amazing views from all angles of this beautiful establishment. Now from a bookstore point of view...this is a total tourist trap. The books and music are extremely overpriced in comparison to a book store here in the United states. I was shocked at their prices. Way too expensive. But please keep in mind that the majority of people who come here don't buy books they come for the spectacle that is el ateneo. It truly is a tourist stop if your here in Argentina. read more
