The store is extremely clean and they have a great selection of American imported products under the brand American Classic. I tried a bunch of products under the brand and it tastes like home! That being said - there's a huge void for instant American meals. You'll be hard pressed to find instant oatmeal with brown sugar in individual sachets -- actually anything instant is a bit harder to find in Chile in general, even instant rice. I think I'm just too used to the convenience and plethora of on-the-go US product offerings but after going to a bunch of stores to see the options, this one is my fav and hits closest to Also if you're an avid Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar fan like I am - you won't find that anywhere in Chile either so make sure to pack your own before your trip! The only other negative is that you can't sign up for the points program as a foreigner it's only for Chileans. That was a bummer! I wanted to earn point because I definitely plan on shopping there a lot! Awesome bonus to this location - it is attached to the mall, it's a huge plus if you like the all in one experience. Don Harry Minimarket is a store full of spices, rice and products directly shipped from India. Don Harry is the main provider for most of the Indian restaurants in town (he also happens to be the owner of Soul of India), meaning this stuff is good! My favorite tip is not only that you can find Basmati rice here, but that it is much cheaper than the supermarket prices like Jumbo! He also sells an assortment of hard-to-find spices such as groundcoriander, asafoitida(!!) and fenugreek leaves. You can also find pure ghee here! Not only does he sell Indian food but also bindis, essential oils and indian figurines/sculptures. The owner, Dhanesh, is always happy to help and tell you what you should buy for your Indian inspired meal. This family owned store that is based in Rancagua has great quality products for a quarter of the price that you would normally find in the supermarket. The main guys that work there are all related and are from Concepcion. They are super nice and always very attentive. I recommend the mantecoso cheese from Valdivia. They have two different kinds and they are both delicious. They don't have a sign for it, but ask for the Valdivia mantecoso that is aged or "añejo" - it is out of this world if you are looking for a stronger/smooth tasting cheese that doesn't cost 20 dollars the 1/4. Also, they sell great quality cream cheese from Santa Rosa for 950 pesos (in the supermarkets it is 1.950) Their butter is from Kumey, it is marketed as "mantequilla del campo" and 250 grams is 950 pesos -- very great quality butter from the "farm." Tip: If you can, talk to Alejandro (one of the main guys who works there) he'll take the time to help you find the cheese you are looking for plus he gives large samples ;)

Mainly because they have large, impeccable avocados for prices that are sometimes cheaper than what you'll find in the vega (I'm still not 100% convinced that they aren't involved in some kind of avocado smuggling ring..only slightly kidding) Besides being my go-to avocado spot, San Juan is like a mini feria in our neighborhood (a great place to go when you can't make it to the vega). They are family owned and even have their 2 year old daughter running around "helping". San Juan offers fresh fruits and veggies at prices cheaper than what you will find in the supermarkets down the road. They also offer eggs, milk, cheese and deli meats as well as canned goods. Plus, they have a large selection of liquor including "champagne", wine and pipeño. Tip: They usually run out of bread early in the day but sometimes they have some fresh in the back. Ask - even if you don't see it.

Minimarket is located right below two large apartment buildings and in front of another five. The owners (I believe) live in the building and really know all of the people that come through their doors. They are very friendly and make sure you feel special - a great way to keep customers coming back. There are a few other mini-markets around, and despite their prices being a bit more expensive than those in the supermarket down the road, I always go to them when I am in a pinch because I know he remembers who I am and take the time to talk. They also have great empanadas and pies as well as kuchen. They also just started selling a Brazilian dessert (I believe a Brazilian neighbor makes them and drops them off) it is good and definitely separates them out from the rest. Tip: Come before 8pm otherwise you won't get any of their delicious maraquetas (bread).
