It was a warmer sunny afternoon around 3pm. We decided to visit Cristalo's known for the best gelato in town.
Things didn't start off well. We finally found a nice table outside and then we waited, waited and waited some more. We managed to get the attention of the waitress who only seem to look and stare and finally grunt under her breath that she would come over to take our order shortly.
This place is a service desert! No idea how to value paying customers. It appeared to me like asking them for service was like asking them for a favor! Until pay structure is changed to (half wages/half tips) we will not get good service. If you don't like dealing with the public then, don't take a service job, period!
Behind the counter there seem to be three staff member preparing the orders. However, they only had one waitress running around to serve and clean all the tables inside and outside. She never came to take our order. Since, the "take away" line was faster we decided to get in line and order.
Well, for a gelato to me it was very disappointing. The gelato was not creamy enough. The gelato didn't meet expectations of the description in the menu to what was actually served. I order the Hawaiibercher! They served it with strawberry gelato and pineapples, whipped cream with strawberry sauce, what? Have this people even been to Hawaii or really tried researching or putting some thought into the creation of their menu? Because it had Hawaii in the main name then, I expected either vanilla, coconut or piña colada flavored gelato topped off with pineapples pieces, coconut sprinkles and chopped macadamia nuts. Perhaps, with homemade whip cream and drizzled with a good quality chocolate syrup.
We took our gelato and went across to Der Beck to get our cappuccinos! We had waited more than enough.
