I am a researcher at Hamburg University of Technology. Given that, I am exposed to the Mensa on…read moredaily basis. While the food counters and employee dresses keep reminding me of prison canteens (from movies of course!), staff is really nice and the food is always value for money. What's good: - They offer a good variety of dishes: Great breakfast buffet in the morning; each day 4 main courses (4€ - 1,9€), a vegetarian dish, two soups, a large salad bar, take away desserts, plenty of softdrinks and fresh juices to choose from and an exclusive ice cream stand during summer time; in the afternoon, there are snacks, cafe and soup for afternoon breaks - We have plenty of space in the mensa to find a cozy spot - Staff is really friendly What's not: - Dont come at 12.00h during semester times (Apr.-July; Oct.-Feb) as the lines for the registers crowd heavily around that time. I suggest to drop by either early at 11.30h or late at 13.00h, so you wont have any trouble. - Check the menu first on the Mensa homepage, as they tend to have few days As we lack good external places in the Harburg district, the mensa can hardly be substituted for university staff. So, this review may also point hungry externals to a spot to lunch in Harburg. Feel welcome!
