The biggest issues I've had with designers in the past, whether digital or print, is the communication and commitment to time frames. I've actually come to expect a bit of awkwardness and poor work ethic from designers. If you've worked with designers before, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. The primary designers for my project, Nissa and Ryan, were very quick to respond and even humored me on some ideas I had that were, well, not so good.
