Eightgrains served me the best gua bao (called pork belly bao on the menu) I've had since Taiwan! Just the right amount of pickled greens, peanuts, and a dusting of spice - mmmm! If I had more time in the city I'd have picked up a bag of these to have a picnic with (although really you can't let these sit, the bun will get soggy).
I also enjoyed the dumpling sampler platter, although I don't think it came with every flavor of dumpling like the lady behind the counter assured me. I also wished the sauce for the red wine/pulled beef didn't spread out all over the rest of the dumplings, because they had their own flavors that didn't need to be overshadowed. I think my favorite dumplings was the chicken, corn, and coriander - and I loved that they offered both spicy chili oil and regular sesame oil for dipping. read more
