Massive thanks to the person on duty for letting me visit this museum even tho' my Düsseldorf card…read morehad expired by 30 mins! Also, this museum is a bit subversive to find (at least it was for me!) I went in and there was a cafe and for the life of me, couldn't see any museum entrance. I had in fact turned to leave, when from the corner of my eye, saw an empty space with stairs descending down and realized had found the entrance! So definitely preserve or ask the staff where the entrance is, cause (for me at least) it wasn't so obvious!) Anyway after going downstairs, the museum staff gave me a pamphlet about the artworks and while the Artist's statements are only in German, there was also an English language booklet about the 7 installations on display. There is also a space to hang your coat ego for the desk of the museum staff and they also stored the suitcases of a couple who entered the museum after me. The bathrooms are located in the far right from the entrance and surprised me with how many stalls there were in the women's bathroom (5!). Everything was very clean and well maintained. Of the artwork displayed, when I visited in December 2018, I liked quite a few, which I found thought-provoking: 1) an installation called " Marx, I love you will you marry me' which was hung from a helicopter and then flown about. I found this humorous and taking capitalism to an extreme. 2) video installation called "Culture Lovers" starts of with as dog's poo and then a skateboard all's into the crap and the poo transforms into "We Trust"'words on a the skateboarder's shirt. 3) Sand on the floor and "she sells sea shells on the sea floor whispering from across the sand" There were a total of 7 installations between 4 artists and they ran the gamut of Multimedia, sculpture, sound, video and words. I'm glad got to check it out. Yelp 249/ 2018

KIT is a gallery and a café. For the gallery you pay 4 euro (3 euro for students) entrance which is…read morea fair price. The gallery is not big though, so if you're not the slowest expect to be done in 10 minutes. Yes it is that small, just so you know. The art is modern and the expo's change. When I went they had the expo 'Sugar' I think it was the work of a class of art academy graduates so all the work was different. There were about 15 pieces of which I liked 5 or something. But then, I'm not really a fan of modern art, I do like contemporary art but it has to be very skill full like with the old masters, that kind of skill full. There were a few pieces like that and I loved them. The other stuff.. well, not so much. I'm sure there is a idea behind them but I could remake them and there was no sign telling the story or though behind those pieces so they meant nothing to me. The café upstairs is a nice spot for a drink, a sandwich or something sweet. They have a lot of different pies and cakes. Don't sit close to the door when the weather is cold because the door is huge and every time it opens you'll get cold and it is not comfortable. (Yes I had this) I would say KIT is okay, the café is nice, I liked some of the pieces and I can imagine other, more interesting, expo's their as well. If you are into modern art I'm sure you'll like it. The price is very decent so it is worth checking out.
