Zarinas offers both gluten free options for pizza and for pasta and the meal was fantastic, especially the home-made crusts for the regular pizza. The gluten free crusts were from a package (average) but the toppings were delicious and the chef did come out to apologize they didn't have something hand-made and did advise that with 24 hrs notice, they could do a hand-made gluten free crust. We then inquired about gluten free lasagna and he offered to have us come back the next night and he would prepared a gluten free meal just for us. So, the next night we went back after requesting the gluten-free lasagna and sure enough, they had prepared a "family style" meal with a full gluten-free lasagna, salad, garlic toast, and then ice cream and strawberries for the kids for dessert. The meal was fantastic and I can't say enough about their effort to make our evening enjoyable. The restaurant was very family friendly, a nice atmosphere, and a wonderful staff. Highly recommended!

Just to warm you up: I was eyeing this place before ad had to try it. Norwegians tell me that there are better Indian places in the capital (Oslo) but I figured I'd try my luck. I came here as a solo date, I had me, myself and I to wine and dine for the night and I was quite content. 2.) What your eyes may see: The decor here is beautiful. Tapestries of Indian colors. Indian paintings. The walls were covered with all types of colors and art. The dishes were made of tin. Silverware was decorative. The restaurant is owned by a husband and wife, so you'dsee them seating, taking orders and serving alongside their staff. 3.) Food and drink: I ordered a specialized American order, which was Lamb with Saag Paneer, and ordered it spicy. Along with that I ordered Garlic Naan and Mango Lassi. The lassi tasted a little bit carbonated, a little bubbly, but I forced myself to enjoy it. The lamb Saag paneer? Hmmmm, well, lets break down the components. The lamb was kind of dry, the only thing that was good about the Saag Paneer was that it was at the spice level I requested. Other than that, the flavors were somewhat bland, not the intricacies that I normally taste in authentic india cuisine. The rice was was clumpy. 3.) Service: I thought of the service to be fine. The owner was attentive, and the food came out appropriately. 4.) Impressions: Two stars for the food. If I were to say A-OK that means I'd be content coming here again. Perhaps I'll give their other dishes a try when I return. But what I've experience back in the states exceeds this level of Indian food making.

They had many dessert options from brownies to cookies to meringues to macaroons and more! Their coffee list was appropriate and their chai was nicely spiced and not too heavy. The decor is dry sweet and charming, a good traditional Norwegian coffee shop. There are outlets located throughout the cafe and a restroom in the basement (not sure if it is accessible any other way). I would recommend stopping in!

COZY. NORWEGIAN. OLD-FASHIONED TOILET…read more A very cozy place in the middle of Kristiansand, where you can take your date for a cup of coffee or your kids for some hot cocoa. Their wooden interior is especially eye-catching, especially their old-fashioned toilet, which is also made from wood! There's enough seating here for groups of four or above, so if you want to bring your whole family for a round of warm drinks, it won't be a problem at all! Not time to write, need to finish my cappuccino first! :)
