The best place in the world that i ever travelled to :)…read more I went to Taizé for the first time in August 2005. By coincidence in the week of the funeral of the community founder Brother Roger! It was a really sad and touching week for me. Even though the week programm didn't go as normal as during the whole year it didn't stop me to return! From 2006 i returned every year to spend the holy week which is one of the most crowded seasons of the year and in my opinion the most beautiful time to be in Taizé. During that week we experience the last week of lent in a deeper way. For example on holy Friday the bell rings during some minutes and the whole community stops (whatever they are doing) and all are silent. This is always a very touching experience for me. And on Easter sunday is the most wonderfull experience. In the prayer the Brother say in different languages: "Christ has risen! He has risen indeed!" And at the end of the prayer we hug people (who we don't know) wishing happy easter. Taizé is a big example to live life with simplicity and reconciliation! All are welcome in this place. No matter if you are a Christian or not ...

It must weigh over 500 lbs, because several men could not even budge it. Anyone with further info, please post.

Be aware that this church is closed for lunch between noon and 2 pm but it's well worth scheduling a visit. Soaring interior, brilliant stained glass windows - and a very unique treat is that it holds within a fully operational mechanical (astrological) clock dating from 1661. On the hour, every hour, it will chime and its clockwork animatronics will swing into action Truly a 17th century Disney-like delight! A must-see for sure.
