So the food is consistently great, but I had a horrible experience today that made me question if I should maintain my loyalty here. Our server, Marvin, was the absolute worst person to ever represent this restaurant. We asked for condiments when he dropped off the food, didn't get it until after we were finished eating (because he was taking so long), he slammed the condiments on the table when he eventually brought them and whenever we handed him back on of the bottles said "keep it there" and walked away. I'm a server at Pappadeaux, and I keep thinking how he wouldn't last a single day in actual hospitality, because I know what it is. He was awful, rude and unprofessional. I'm actually here right now, and he's walking around, laughing with other servers not even checking on us. Whenever you come here, which you should, ask to not sit with Marvin. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the renovations inside the old Royal East location. This could very well be our new favorite breakfast spot. It is nicely decorated and very clean inside. The 50's sock hop music playing was a nice touch! We showed up for a late breakfast and the staff was super nice and attentive. The food was great (I got the spinach artichoke omelet with added avocado) and my wife was very pleased with the huge bowl of creamers on the table...they don't skimp on coffee creamers! YUM YUM!! Found this place while desperate for some early afternoon breakfast. It's located in an odd area, but that doesn't take away from the experience at all. 0 Stars the manager guy was condescending and when I showed him the mold on my blueberry he proceeded to touch the rest of the fruit on my plate. As the blueberry was fuzzy, there was no doubt about the mold. Don't order the oatmeal or French toast as they are not worth the money since they have no flavor. Everything here is over priced and over rated. I would not recommend coming here ever. I really, really wanted to like this place. It's close to home and work and the menu looked wonderful! We went on a Saturday afternoon. A visit to the restroom to wash my hands - the restroom was dirty. I tried to let that go and when I got back, the coffee I had ordered was in a cup that had a lipstick mark on it. The waitress was very apologetic but I was pretty grossed out by the bathroom then the cup. Food was actually good! served quickly and had great flavor. Service was not very attentive and I ran out of water quickly. Food tasted good enough that I was willing to give it another chance until a few hours later - my stomach started to hurt. All I had eaten was breakfast from there. Overall, disappointed and felt sick. Hopefully my experience was a fluke given all the other good reviews but I won't be back. read more

Stayed at my daughter's new apartment, woke up and checked Google maps for some brunch places near me (as "real" groceries hadn't been bought yet). It's in a shopping center and easy to miss, but you are missing out if you don't circle back and look for it again. Cute and nicely decorated on the inside, staff were beyond courteous and attentive (and at 1045AM, on a Saturday, AND move-in day at UNT, it was busy). The turkey and pesto panini was hot and delicious, my side salad was a little unimaginative but still good. My daughter's buffalo burger was great, too. Spicy, generous piece of chicken, with a side of fries (or fruit or salad) with it-- she got fries-- perfect, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. She also had 2 almond milk and honey iced lattes that were really good, but those two drinks alone were more than my panini and salad lol. $30+ for us for brunch/lunch. Service and food were great. It's great to have another breakfast option in Denton. I've been three times now, once with my toddler and family, and each time has gone well. The food is great and the service is attentive. The menu is a step above the usual breakfast places around here. They offer eggs benedict and have espresso coffee drinks. Not your usual diner or dive. Prices seem on par with other restaurants of this type. I can get breakfast a couple of dollars cheaper elsewhere, but that's not my goal. I'd prefer great food and service. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch, but we both opted for breakfast. Potions were plentiful. My corned beef hash was excellent with the right amount of crunch. My grits were not hot enough (temperature), but the taste and texture was good. My husband's omelette was huge and tasted good, but the hash browns were limp. We just heard about this restaurant Thursday, and decided to try it out for breakfast today (Sunday). The staff was exceptional. We were sat immediately and within a few minutes had our coffee. We had the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and the biscuits & gravy omelette. DELICIOUS. The portions are a very good size. I left full with leftovers. This is by far my place to go, and the food is pure heaven. Right when we walked in it just felt like we were family, from the warm greetings to the owners walking around and making sure we were happy with everything. My boyfriend and I went with our friend this morning to get breakfast together. We had been to Egg House before covid and were excited to come back now that we are vaccinated. When we came in, we were greeted by the owner who set us up with our drinks. He was friendly, organized, and professional-- all things that his staff could really use some improvement with. When our waitress took our orders, she asked multiple follow-up questions where we repeated things we had already told her. We took it as a sign that she wanted to get our order right, so that didn't bother us initially. But when we got our food, she had brought out something different than what I had ordered and completely forgot to bring out our friend's food, which I had to ask another wait staff to bring out for him. She did correct the mistake and apologized, but later on, she did the same thing when she brought out our checks. We were explicitly clear with how we wanted them split up (my boyfriend and I on one, friend on the other) and she split up my boyfriend's food between two checks. We ended up paying for our friend to avoid the headache of another mistake and had to explain all of this to the host while paying to make sure that everything was covered. The host didn't apologize for the multiple mistakes our waitress made and informed us that there was a third check we needed to pay for, which made no sense to us. She asked our waitress to come over and the waitress explained that the third check was a mistake she made and that the host can delete it from the POS system. Again, no apologies from either the waitress or the host for the inconvenience. I know they were busy and it was a holiday, but the service was disorganized and lacking in professionalism. We love supporting local restaurants in Denton but I don't know if we'll be coming back to Egg House anytime soon after this experience, which makes me very sad to say. read more

I must've gone to this place on the wrong day. We had to wait over an hour for our food. The only reason I'm not giving one star is because they tried to redeem themselves by quickly fixing the errors made on our order and gave us each $5 gift cards for the next visit (if I go back). If you see that the place is busy and you are really hungry, go somewhere else! It is mot worth the wait. The food was good but not amazing. This place has great food when you get your complete order. The service was not the best. Our waitress took our order, and never really came back to check on us. I understand that we only got water, but it would be great to here a time estimate on our wait for food. We waited about 30 minutes and she never came to check on us. She came back only to bring us our food. When our food came I ordered a biscuit with gravy on the side. When I got it my biscuit was black and hard. The gravy wasn't even ready either. I asked for another one because I'm not eating something that is charred. My sister in law also ordered a kids meal because she doesn't eat much. With that they upcharged us a dollar because she's an adult. I get it, but the order should have had bacon on the side, but her plate didn't have any. So we asked for it because we are paying for the meal. When the waitress brought it back she informed us that they had a new cook, but as a waitress you should know what your patrons ordered, and make sure the orders are right. I support small business, but in order to keep your customers back you can't put out half of what they ordered. The food was good, but after the issues were corrected. read more

This was our second visit here. Our first time was okay, noting too great. The scrambled eggs I ordered with my crepes were really dry and flavorless. The crepes were amazing though! My boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy that time and they were pretty good. Service was outstanding as well. Unfortunately, our second visit was subpar. I ordered the chicken and waffles and I couldn't eat the chicken. It had way too much flour in the flavorless breading which gave it a weird texture and the inside was barely cooked, making it inedible. It was also an extremely large piece of chicken that looked weird on the plate in comparison to the waffle. The waffle itself was decent. My boyfriend ordered The Traditional and his pancakes (subbed instead of toast) were extremely hard and crunchy, practically inedible. Additionally, his over easy eggs were cold and the hash browns flavorless. We came in excited to eat because the service is always great, people are friendly, and Dentonites recommend this place but I'm not sure why. We paid way too much for food that was not worth the value. I prefer Dix's because they do chicken and waffles the right way and for a more reasonable price. Great little breakfast/lunch diner, we both had breakfast which is served thru lunch time. Food was great, avocado eggs benedict was delicious! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the noise. There was one other table of 3 while we were there, and you can hear everything being said. Noise seems to echo throughout the restaurant, seemed to be zero sound proofing. The staff are quite young and haven't been trained to use quiet voices at all, or to be professional. Their loud conversations while lingering in one spot were nerve-grating. Shouting at each other across the room made me eat faster. . I would go back for sure, but would probably prefer take-away just to not endure the noise. While not a relaxing meal, it was a good one nonetheless. read more

We tried this place out for the first time a couple weekends ago. Service was a little slow turns out they were having technical difficulties but our waiter did not inform us simple communication would have improved our service experience. Ordered the traditional breakfast the pancakes served with it tasted like the frozen pancakes you get from the store....could be just a little better.
