They are now AmeriGas and is terrible requested emergency fill up on Friday with a 300 dollar rush fee. no delivery here it is Monday and now they say Tuesday. Bad for business I want my money back and come remove your tank from my property NOW. read more

Our family started using propane gas in 1999 with Quality Gas in Albemarle. Had pretty good customer service then. When Amerigas took over it's been downhill. You can never talk to a person and wait times are 2-3 hours. When we asked them to disconnect our gas tank on a Monday, they did it The Friday before which left us unable to use our cooktop over the weekend. Then they want over 400 as disconnection fee for " use of the tank" but in reality, over the course of our being their customer we had paid in over 4000 for rental of the tank. We never signed a contract with them or we would have known about the " disconnection fee"! Also we had about 20% gas in our tank when they came and took it while we were not at home. I have talked to other families who have had similar experiences. I hope other families will pull away from them. We have found a provider that always has a person to provide prompt service. Our rating is actually not "1" but less than 1! read more

How do you get loose from Amerigas ? I've tried and tried to no avail. I want free from this TERRIBLE company but am getting nothing but the run-a-round. The most terrible customer service I've ever had. sent a letter to the BBB. Hope maybe that can get some results. read more

We have been with this company (Efirds Gas) for many many years. Now they are owned by Amerigas and when you call you do not get the office in Albemarle. They voided our previous propane contract. I was told propane would be delivered the day I called. It was not. I called the next morning and asked where the propane was and I got a different person telling me they NEVER deliver the day you call and if I wanted it that day it would be an extra 500 dollars. I also asked why they charged more for poultry propane than anyone else. No answer. Ummm no thank you. We canceled with them and will be using South Central Oil and Propane. Amerigas has RUINED what was a great local company. Do not use them, they will screw you over and jack up your price. read more

We have been with Efird Gas for 17 years. They are now owned by Amerigas. We have called repeatedly for information on buying our tanks (so we can go with another company without digging up their tank) and have NEVER received a call back. You stay on hold for up to an hour only to either be cut off or told they'd have a representative call us back. They've NEVER called us back after 6 calls! This company is HORRIBLE!! They have jacked up prices and have NO SERVICE to back it up! Amerigas has ruined an otherwise good company! read more

I have been using this company for years. I started when it was originally Efird's Gas. Now it has changed hands several times until we have the current corporate owner of AmeriGas. Each time propane was delivered you had to contact the office to negotiate a lower price to match the competition. Manager's have changed and any agreed upon price by previous manager is nullified. Propane is not regulated like natural gas. You can charge what the market can bear. I will be looking for a new supplier if I can find one with a stable management. read more

I am having major difficulties just trying to get some one on the phone or thru their Amerigas internet site. I have already cancelled my service (I think as they wasn't able to give me a confirmation number...that was after waiting for 84 minutes for some one the answer the phone and that was back in October). I am trying to get them to remove their tank, but so far I have not been able to get them again. I need for them to come and get their tank as I no longer want them as my propane provider... This started with a simple request to fill my tank for the cold weather and that was back at the beginning of September, It is now November 18th and they still have not contacted me as to when they will remove their tank from my property. I would advise anyone not to use these people. I have never seen service as bad as theirs. By the way we have been with Thomas Gas (great service), then changed to Efird Gas (great service) and is now American Gas (WORST SERVICE OF ANY COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH) since 2005 when we went with Thomas Gas. Oh, and their internet site is a horror as I have left messages for them to contact me and never have had any responses from them. read more
