Do NOT call this service. Initially called them to fix my heater and Joseph came. He came in and did some analysis and paid him for his service visit. I told him that I will go with someone else but he got parts on my water heater with the serial number without my authorization. under warranty from the company. My new installer was not able to order parts since the company already shipped the parts to this guy. I called Joseph and he refused to give back the shipped parts to him and asked me not to call him but call the water heater company. 3 stars is for the technician who installed the water heater. I have to take 2 stars away due to his Boss, causing tension before he started working. I would give "0" star for the communication tactics of Joseph, the owner. His communication via telephone is awful. He did not take time to finish the conversation and always ended the conversation with, "I am busy, I am in the middle of "something"." So, I hired another company and scheduled the installation for the next day. I wanted to give Joseph another chance. So, I texted him, around 4 or 5 AM, early in the morning. He responded immediately. His good points: 1) He agreed to do what I was asking him to cover, in addition to the installation of the heater. 2) He locked the cost for installation of the heater over the phone. I took 2 stars away 2. Because, 1) The locked price did not include all of the discounts and different pricing he was offering me over the yelp messages. 2) He was very aggressive and did not end a telephone conversation "normally" but said "busy" and stopped the exchange of information abruptly. (I named him hanging upon me as one of his tactics to negotiate pricing.) 3) He told me that he will come to my home to install the heater. But he did not and sent one of his employees. 4) His employee was not aware of everything what Joseph and myself agreed upon over the phone. He ended up spending time discussing with Joseph instead of starting the installation right away. The technician had no clue and refused to do extra stuff. 5) Joseph caused tension between us, the Technician and myself, in the beginning. 6) After starting the work, the technician calmed down and did everything I asked for. Since I already cancelled the previous company and embarrassed to ask them to come over again, I agreed for Joseph to come for the installation. I also told myself, as long as his installation is done well and the water heater lost as expected, I should overlook his aggressive behavior. As for as the installation goes, it went well. I waited for a while before writing this review. The date of installation was Dec. 18th 2024. I will find the technician's name and post it soon. When I agreed to hire Joseph C from Efficient Water Heaters through "yelp," I specifically stated that I needed the whole thermocouple assembly installed and he stated he had the kit. We agreed on a time frame of 4:30 - 6 pm. His manners on "yelp" messaging were fine. He showed up at 7 pm instead. It gave me a bad impression when Joseph (who was wearing black overalls on one shoulder and his assistant with sagging jeans and carrying an old brown bag, with tools piled up and sticking out of the bag) showed up at the front door. Joseph said he was the business owner and they were here to fix the water heater. I guided them into the garage thru the back gate. Joseph seemed annoyed as they followed me. "Long day?" I asked in an attempt to relieve the awkwardness of the moment. He just said, "yeah" and followed me. He briefly checked out the water heater and complained that there wasn't enough light in the garage. The light bulb was on. He went to his van and brought his phone to brighten the area bit more. His assistant was also using his phone to make the area brighter. I offered to use my phone flash light to help too, but Joseph gave me an intimidating look while he said: Ma'am, we got it! We will tell you if we need you." He then grabbed a packaged thermocouple assembly kit and blamed his assistant for having brought the wrong one. I strongly believe this was their planned manipulative tactic. He then started removing the screws from my water heater, and I asked him how he was going to replace the thermocouple assembly if he did not have the correct part? I tried to watch as worked, but his assistant was blocking my view. Then I heard him yanked out the copper wire (thermocouple) out of my tank and said: "I will fix it."Then he stared me down as he added: "Your tank is so old that no one has the thermocouple assembly anymore. I am actually doing you a favor by agreeing to fix your heater." He has very poor work ethics. He lacks integrity, professionalism, and he would definitely benefit by considering a bit of empathy for his customers. I sure hope he considers practicing the "golden rule" when dealing with his future customers. He was done replacing the thermocouple in a half and lit up the pilot of the water heater. I am thankful for that. I kept my end of the deal and paid him the agreed upon amount of $250 in cash. That was a very high price to pay for a used thermocouple that he struggled to find at the bottom of his tool bag (the new ones cost about $10.) and for half an hour of his undiligent time. I asked for a receipt, but he refused to give me one before he left my property. He said he would send me one via text. I doubt it, so I followed up via a message on yelp. He did send me one around 10 pm. An effective and professional business owner should not have to be requested to provide a receipt for his services. Dealing with Joseph C. and his indifferent mannerism has been a very unpleasant experience for me. read more

They diagnosed the problem as a hot water leak in the slab, but said there was a good chance it was close enough to the wall behind the water heater leading to the kitchen that they could fix it.. Took $1,500 to find out that wasn't the case. Estimated $25k to repipe (way out of line... ended up paying half that) and for some odd reason refused to give me an invoice despite several texts, phone calls and emails.
