One can easily drive and not notice Looshaus due to your eyes glued towards the Rax and Schneeberg…read moremountains. This is normal, which is why we were given a tip to stay an evening at the Gasthaus when we went for a weekend trip to Reichenau. Unfortunately the place was booked out for that weekend and even for one specific weekend in June. It's very popular, so reserve ahead of time. We still found elsewhere to stay near town but still decided to come one evening for dinner. Falstaff 2 forks and 86 points. Ratings seemed to point they were good but another tip to us was they do specialities for the season and take importance in the quality of their food. The food was wonderful and I have to admit this was one of the best lamb dishes I ever had in Austria. I have high expectations when it comes to dishes serving lamb. We got as dessert a variation of what they have and that's perfect. You have no room left in you, it's k. Just order the dessert variation set. Trust me it will be worth all bloating and complaining. This kitchen has some gems stored in their sleeves. Food outstanding! The location and view. Austria is filled with Gasthauses that are situated in places with views that make you say "I'm quitting my job, moving here and eating & drinking for the rest of my life." This is a place like that. View of mountains spectacular and even though we got it at a rainy and cloudy day it was incredible when the sun broke out a couple times. You have tables on balcony, at back if you want more forest and less view or you have these couple benches as in northern Germany so that you can have some privacy with your better half. It's a 1 hour drive from Vienna (would require a lot of walking from train station). Call and reserve room or table before just going there. Staff is wonderful and helpful. If any of you new comers in Vienna are wondering where can I take my friends or family and give a taste of the mountains food and drinks, keep this place in mind.

Good local place for a stop-over on your way in the Murz valley. Do check out their cakes!…read moreWe were a group if hungry (and cold) wolves returning from a hike in wintery conditions. The people at Urani made feel welcone with warm drinks, good soups. Garlic cream soup and horseraddish-beetroot was on the menu today; altough they could have properly warmed up the garlic soup, this was a great stop-over before heading back to Vienna. We couldnt wait to start with our dessert, a Kardinal schnitte with the size of a main dish! It is mushy cake with both merengue-like and mocca cream.

So I would recommend to anyone who is considering staying in the area. They have a lake right next to them and its brilliant. Its quiet, even though next to a road and surrounding is very beautiful. Would I stay again there? Yes! Lets say you're not staying there but passing by. The restaurant was brilliant. The kitchen definitely is up to their claimed standards by a few here. I would also recommend like Corinne regarding the seasonal specialties. We enjoyed the erschwammerl gulasch the first night and it was excellently prepared. I had a hard time believing it was without meat! The next day I tried a Förster Pfandl and was blown away. Perhaps I was extremely hungry after a whole day of climbing and walking around, but the meal was brilliant. They definitely seem to pay attention to the material used in their kitchen and everything tasted very fresh and deserves 5 out of 5 stars. Staff was friendly and nice. There was a triathlon going on Saturday so it took a bit of time to order for the next round of drinks but still thats acceptable in a sense. The only thing that seemed a bit odd, considering we were staying at their motel, was their breakfast. After such great meals, I had the idea their breakfasts would also be breath taking. Except for the fresh weckerls and breads, the breakfast was boring, dull and had nothing special about it. They provided with 10 blocks of butter, 1 nutella and a dozen jams that just tasted industrially produced. Plus if you wanted another one, they would struggle to find or offer it. It seemed they were limited with stocks or something. Either way, I would not recommend stopping here for breakfast. Focus on their lunch offers and a nice dinner with friends or partner. A place where "Mahlzeit" is given its true worth!
