We requested service for the refrigerator in Palmetto Kiss, and the repairman left it unrepaired, saying he had to get parts. Didn't return that day, so called again. He returned, tore apart the freezer, unplugged the unit, and said we would get a replacement that day. Never came! Called again...We lost food and cleaned up water from the leaking refrigerator. I'm writing the review I wish I could have read before booking. We rented Sea Cabin at 3116 Palmetto. The price was low for a beachfront property, so we knew it would be rustic with few updates, which was totally fine with us. However, the house is run down and needs a serious deep clean. Dust bunnies and dirt inside the bread box, a thick layer of grime and cobwebs along the porch ledge and windowsills. The washing machine full of sand and grime. There is no beach supply closet with chairs and plastic beach toys like most rentals. Their beach shed has an old dirty toilet in it. There are pallets of old wood just laying around in the covered parking area. There are 2 fridges, which is nice, but one has no sides on any of the shelves, rendering them useless. No ice makers. Only 2 plastic trays that were empty on arrival. Couldn't locate a single dish towel anywhere. Not a shred of toilet paper in any of the 3 bathrooms when we arrived. We are happy to buy our own, but isn't leaving at least a portion of a roll just understood?? Everything I listed above I can overlook- but here is the main reason for our disappointment. THE BEDS! Every single mattress is terrible. And every single bed makes a loud creaking noise with the slightest movement. And the doors on the bedrooms are the slatted closet type sliding doors so sound travels and there is little privacy. It was impossible for us to get a good nights sleep. And after waking up from fitful rest with a sore back, none of the other furniture in the home was comfortable either. There was just no relief. The beach behind the house is small- especially at low tide. The realty company was pleasant to deal with, and I realize the homeowners and cleaning staff share in the responsibility for the condition of the home. But when I booked, I asked the employee if I could read any reviews of the property. She said they don't provide them. I asked if there was ère any reported issues with the house and she said she wasn't aware of any complaints. I find that hard to believe since there is another 1 star review of this same property on this site. This was not a good experience and we won't be back. read more

We rented 3116 Palmetto. Great location, terrible condition. Called service 4x to address the broken dryer and washer. Repairman came out on the 3rd day, left without repairs. I have never vacationed here, but I came with a family friend. It's safe to say I will never be back and surely won't be renting from this agency again. One of the old ladies that works there was harassing and stalking our rental. She sat outside and came to the premises before and after office hours. My friend's parents confirmed that she was able to pick up the key because they were getting in late because they were shopping. When she went to pick up the key, she was refused the key and entry into the home. We finally were able to get her uncle to pick up the key and it seemed all was well. The next day, her parents were out shopping and trying to enjoy their vacation. We receive a knock on the door from this old woman who said that her parents needed to be at the realty office in 30 minutes. We tried to explain to her that would not be possible. This was not okay with her apparently because she showed up again, telling us to pack our things and they would watch us leave. During this time, her husband stood in the door frame making all of the girls uncomfortable. The old lady proceeded to start grinning and then screaming at one of our friends to get up and pack. I have never been treated with such disrespect in my life and this is unacceptable from a professional business. All we wanted was a nice vacation and because we were told we would "not be getting a penny back" we cannot afford to look for another place and are being forced to drive in hazardous conditions during a tornado watch. Please never rent from here and watch out for these scamming, bitter employees. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had. My family and I have been using Edisto Realty for the last six years and never had any major issues until yesterday and today. My husband and I called ahead to Edisto Reality to confirm that our daughter, an adult would be able to pick up the key because we were coming later in the evening, they confirmed and said yes, and then whenever my daughter went to pick it up the key, they told her no. Then once we were able to get the key we went to the house. When we got there the place was in good condition besides the bedroom and bathroom doors not locking in one of the bedrooms and dust covering every surface. This morning my husband and I left to go to the outlets in Charleston and my daughter and friends got a knock on the door from an older lady who works at Edisto Reality demanding that my husband be here in 30 minutes or else she was going to come back and make them leave and then watch them pack up their things and leave. We were not able to be there in 30 minutes, and even if we were.... We are on vacation and are not going to take demands from someone else. The woman showed up to the house 30 minutes later accompanied by her husband. My kid and friends -who are all adults- were forced to pack up their things and leave the house. She had her husband standing at the doorway making sure everyone was doing something. Then once one of our guests was done packing his items he sat down on the couch. Once the woman saw that she told him to "get up and do something". We had the place booked from the 15th- 22nd and were forced to leave on the 16th. We are getting no refund from them, and no apology. They treated all of us with extreme disrespect. When I asked about my refund I was told I "was not getting a penny back." Also, two more things. This older woman showed up at our house an hour before Edisto's reality was opened. So she was doing this not during office hours, she did this in her own free time, off the clock. As some of you may know, areas around Edisto are under a tornado warning. Although Edisto is not under a tornado warning, the areas around it are and there are severe wind and rain. She stood there with a grin on her face watching everyone pack up their things knowing my family and friends were about to drive in unsafe conditions. If you already booked with them, please try and get out of it. I would hate to hear that this happened to other families as well. read more

Just checked out of 3202 C Palmetto. Great location and fair price, BUT mattresses and blankets all had gross stains. Arrived after a long drive, and there was not a square of toilet paper in any of the 3 bathrooms. Mattresses had no mattress protectors or mattress pads on them, and during the final night, my daughter woke up with bug larvae crawling in her sheets! I realize that we were to supply our own linens, but that means sheets and towels. We've rented from Edisto's Best Rentals, and their beds always have not only matress protectors, but matress pads. They give you a complimentary reusable tote that has several rolls of TP, but also some dishwasher and laundry soap, a couple of trash bags and some travel sizes of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. Such a better experience from them. read more

We rented Sea Glass Cottage. After a 12 hour drive, it would've been nice to have at least some toilet paper available. All of the AC ceiling vents drip condensation. They took their pictures at the best angles possible because they didn't show the sagging living room ceiling that I can only guess is due to the constant water dripping from one part of the ceiling. The location was great, but being an avid traveler, I usually use Airbnb and I learned my lesson. I have never paid so much for a rental and been expected to bring EVERYTHING including hand soap. The last night, I made my infant a bottle only to find a huge Palmetto bug in the kitchen... At least I hope it was a Palmetto bug and not a roach. Additionally, they ask you to do the cleaning for them before you leave, which I feel we did a better job than the company. I'm only giving 2 stars because of the location, otherwise I would give the lowest review possible. read more

I normally do not write reviews, however, I don't want anyone to have the same experience my family and I have had. Last week, we rented a beautiful home through Edisto Realty. We loved the house, but on the second day my seven year old woke up covered in bug bites. I immediately checked her bed and discovered bed bugs! I took a video, and went to the realty who then sent an inspector out who confirmed it was bed bugs. He stated they obviously had not come from us, due to the fact there were multiple adults and babies they could have been there for approximately 3 months. The real estate did give us a refund for our rental, however, we spent much more than that to make the trip in two vehicles from TN, taking time off work, and the stress of having to clean and sanitize all of our belongings. Many of which we chose to leave behind for fear of bringing them home with us. I just want to encourage people to check your vacation home before bringing in your things. The realty company is obviously not checking before their guests arrival and is leaving it to the customers to find. They are being reactive instead of proactive to prevent these pests. Unfortunately, by this time your vacation is ruined and you run the risk of taking them home. read more

I reserved a property in October of 2019 for July of 2020. We are a large group so it's difficult to find properties of the size we require. I received an email in January of 2020 that our property was not available and the reservation was cancelled. At this point there were few properties left of the size we needed and we paid far more than we had hope to. Exactly the reason I started looking in October. I have rented many properties in Edisto from different agencies and never have had this happen. My recommendation is to look elsewhere.Disappointing read more

Ugh. The house was very dirty when we checked in. The refrigerator handle was missing. It is not accessible to people with disabilities. A real hassle getting my deposit back. Poor Customer Service. UPDATE: Someone named Jane tried to make excuses about why they cannot refund my deposit: Excuse #1 "Their banking account was "hacked." Duh. I had to close down my own account because it got hacked from an unknown source shortly after I rented from them in August. My bank is investigating the source of the hack. This company is NOT secure. DO NOT give them your CC#. Did anyone else have this happen? Excuse #2 "They had a hurricane." Please. I was without power for 2+ days, but I still managed to update all my Clients - engineering companies all over the SE and elsewhere in the U.S. I'm trying to help my clients rebuild the state of Florida. If we could leave a 0 star review we would. We booked a beach house that ended up being not only in poor condition, but they also decided to hide the fact there was construction going on directly next door. This included the standard non relaxing noises of construction before 8 AM through the day until after 8 PM. We couldn't use the deck or hear each other talk due to the noise. We tried to work with them and they tried to offer us a 20% discount which doesn't even come close to covering the days we can't enjoy our vacation. The other option was to try and uproot our party of 10 to a new unit (we have young children and this is way too much of an inconvenience. They don't seem to care about the situation and Ive had to call multiple times. I get someone new each time. Then I'm told the lady we need to speak to is off for the day.... there is no one else that can help? We are cutting our trip short and leaving 3 days early. That's how bad this entire experience has been. Save your money and time find another company to rent from. read more

We rented a home that apparently the Realty company knew has some issues. Several people have owned it in the last few years and been trying to correct some of the issues. We relied on photos on the web site and were really disappointed in the home once we arrived. Uneven floor, paint flaking off and we had infants with us so parents were concerned. I was a little bit better than the other guests because I know this is a beach house and we were there for the beach and our house was in a great location on the beach and they accept dogs which was one of our prerequisites. But my sister in law went to Edisto Realty and complained the second day of our vacation. They basically admitted this was not the first time they had had complaints about the same house and the rate for the home was no cheaper than some other places on the island that were apparently much nicer. I do know they told us that they would look into it some and get back with us. They never did. That should relegate this to a 1 star but it was high season and maybe they were overwhelmed but that is just bad customer service. Some of it was there fault but probably more was the fault of the owners. Either way I think 2 stars is generous and we will probably deal with this company again inn the future because they seem to have a pretty substantial inventory on the beach but we will definitely be a little more diligent on looking up info on homes on Edisto that are handled by Edisto Realty. read more

We've rented various properties from Edisto Realty for years now with good results but not this time. We rented Driftwood Villa 245 in Wyndham Resort for Labor Day week 2018. Upon entry, we found soiled furniture, holes in the rug, water-stained ceilings, loose deck boards, and ancient appliances (the microwave was 18 years old, as an example). We were tired and realize it is a rental, so we decided to try and make the best of it. Two days later my wife and I were awakened to the sound of hot water spraying all over the kitchen. The inlet hose to the washer was so old it literally broke apart due to rust. After sticking myself in the hot water spray to reach the cut-off valve, we'd had enough and contacted Edisto and outlined all our grievances. They're response was we should have told them sooner about the poor upkeep. Really?? You supposedly inspect these properties before renting them. This wasn't from the previous renter but from years of neglect. 4 hours later the repairs were made to the washer and all we were given was an apology. I could well have left the water running and flooded the whole unit but I didn't. I feel I deserved something more than an apology. read more

We rented a house named temporarily yours on the beach this past week and when we arrived Saturday evening we opened the frig to put $300 worth of food in it and the smell of fish was so overwhelming, I tried cleaning it myself thinking that would help we'll it didn't ! Everything we got out to eat or drink smelled of fish. We salvaged what we could rinse and kept in coolers until Monday morning. We called Edisto reality 2 woman show at 430 pm Monday did a quick wipe down put charcoal in frig and left. Needless to say it didn't help it made me sick to open frig When your paying $700 a night you should'nt have to keep your food in coolers. We had to throw away at least $200 worth of food We rented same house last year and didn't have hot water for 2 days plus frig leaked Will never rent from them again. read more

We rented the "Southern Comfort" house on the beach for the week. Prices after Labor Day are great. The location is awesome. Overall the house is ok. It needs quite a bit of basic maintenance work done. Little things like doors that don't close properly or walls that need small patches, etc. these create distractions from the location and need to be fixed. We have rented from Atwood Reality in the past and will go back to them for future beach vacations at Edisto read more

Last week we took our family to Edisto Island. We love it there and try and vacation there multiple times each year. Typically we rent from Edisto Realty but this will definitely be our last time with them. We arrived at the Squirrel's Nest on Sunday only the find the porch full of trash that had been attacked by raccoons and spread all over. It stunk to high heaven. We immediately called the realty place and they stated there was nothing they could do the owners sub-contract it out and someone should pick up that evening. No one arrived till late Monday. Upon unpacking our bags and kitchen items we found rat droppings everywhere and evidence that someone had been trying to eradicate them with little luck. I took photos and notified the realty place again of the issue and that the bottom of the sink cabinet was broken and likely that was where they were entering from. two days later they asked if they should send someone out to take care of the issue. We also found the silverware drawers and utensils to all be dirty and covered in red stuff along with rat droppings int he drawers. We cleaned them and the whole kitchen only each day to see the rats had come back. The doors to the front and back of the house all had large air gaps which resulted in a high number of roaches in the house each day. Depsite the traps sets and constant spraying we battled filthiness all week. The gray water lines bubbled up twice and filled the air and house with sewage smells. The windows were all rotten. We had one child fall threw a loose ramp board on the dock and my husband sliced his foot open on a raise nail on the dock. We tried to make the most of our vacation and understand its near is creek with water but as the week went on and we called and sent emails the lack of responsiveness was evident. The realty company does care and owners don't care it was rented they were making money why bother making it clean or worth staying there. Oh and did a mention upon arrival we found dirty toilets, a broken in glass on the front door taped up with cardboard along with a bathroom floor about to cave in from mold and moisture. Good thing we are use to camping because that is what the week felt like. I came home and had to decontaminate everything and ending up finding mouse droppings in my own suitcase. What a nightmare. Edisto Realty should be ashamed and should have offered us a refund or a new place to stay. The owners of the home should be following up on the service they are paying for. read more

We have rented from Edisto Realty 3 times. The first two times everything was great. There were no problems and we had no reason to contact them during our stay. The third time was a very different story. We arrived at the house and there was a sewer smell, and a large muddy area next to the house. The next morning when we turned on the water it was BLACK and full of solids. We reported both the sewer smell and the water problems to Edisto Realty within an hour. About 4 hours later a repair crew shows up; discovers that there is a cracked pipe on the well. The well runs all the time and is continuously leaking large amounts of water. All this water has flooded the septic system and that is causing the sewer smell. The repair crew says they will have to come back the next day because they need to open up a wall on the pump house, and they will need all day to do that. That for us to keep the pump turned off except for emergencies, and the pump will have to run for 20 minutes after we turn it on before we can use any faucets or toilets. The repair crew never returned. Our entire stay we had virtually no water, and every time we contacted Edisto Realty about getting it fixed they said they would have to check and call us back. Not one time during the entire stay did they EVER call us back! They also saw no reason why having no water and a constant sewer smell should qualify us for any kind of discount or rebate. We will NEVER RENT ONE OF THEIR PROPERTIES AGAIN! read more

I cannot disagree with the other review listed as an owner,but as a renter having visited the island in July 2011 and stayed at the Wyndham Ocean Ridge resort ,I beg to differ.They have a good inventory yes because it seems like they just about have the corner on the market there.We left July 9th by check out time and have not as of yesterday Aug.22nd received our security deposit.The agreement we signed stated it would be returned WITHIN 30 days of your departure.I have called the office 4 times at this point and have even been told by a supervisor the check number of the refund and the day it was processed even tho I got two stories there on the dates during these calls.I have talked with the owner of the condo where we stayed and informed her of our problem and she seemed very concerned and told me she had called the rental office when she read the review I listed on the site of their unit.This was our first visit to the island and if we have to go through them to stay there again,we'll go elsewhere. read more
