I ended up being admitted for 3 1/2 days. The fourth floor staff were wonderful and treated me kindly. And, they did a great job with difficult patients. I watched them as they had a lot of patience with them. They had genuine warmth, listened carefully and worked well with other staff when communicating patient information. I've spent enough time in hospitals over the years to know that kindness can sometimes feel like a limited resource. Walking into West Hills Hospital, I honestly expected good medical care. What I didn't expect was to meet one of the most compassionate, respectful, and genuinely invested medical teams I've ever encountered. Dr. Namavar, the nurses, the social workers--every single person we met treated not only our family, but our loved one struggling with addiction, with a level of dignity and respect that frankly brought us to tears. Addiction carries so much stigma, yet not once did anyone make him feel like "just another addict." They saw a human being. That matters more than words can express. Our family had a very specific plan to safely transition him from the hospital directly into a rehabilitation facility. Every concern we had was heard. Every request was taken seriously. The team coordinated with the rehabilitation center, communicated with us every step of the way, and made sure nothing slipped through the cracks. Instead of making us feel like difficult family members, they made us feel like partners in his care. Then there was Dr. Namavar. I've met a lot of physicians. I've never met one quite like him. He sat down--not because he had to, but because he wanted to--and shared his own personal experiences with loss and drug overdoses. He wasn't reading from a script or giving a lecture. He was connecting with another human being. You could actually see the walls come down in the room. It was one of the most genuine moments I've ever witnessed between a physician and a patient. To the nurses: thank you for treating us like family. To the social workers: thank you for fighting just as hard for the next step as you did for the one we were in. To Dr. Namavar: thank you for reminding us that medicine is as much about the heart as it is about science. And finally... this is probably the weirdest compliment I've ever written, but if life ever decides to throw another medical emergency my way, I sincerely hope it has the courtesy to happen somewhere near West Hills Hospital. That's how much confidence you've given me. You didn't just care for a patient. You cared for an entire family. Thank you for giving us hope when we needed it most.

Beware of anesthesiologists Hoaky Lam, DO, and Andrei Kopylov, MD, and L&D Nurse named Faith (last…read morename unknown). I had my first baby there and will not be going back for my second. The only reason I went there in the first place was because my OB was affiliated with them, but my OB has since retired. Lam started the epidural at 5am, but didn't put me on a pump with continuous medication so it wore off. I notified L&D nurse Faith at around 9am that I could feel my feet and she told me to "just deal with it." Faith was also irritated by my questions once I started pushing. She sighed and LITERALLY SLAPPED THE INSIDES OF MY LEGS WHILE THEY WERE SPREAD WIDE OPEN AND I WAS PUSHING and answered in a dismissive/sarcastic tone. She was punctuating each word with a slap. I was vulnerable, in pain, and felt incredibly humiliated. I didn't consent to Faith touching me in that manner so it was assault and battery. There were two medical and/or nursing students in training that day who also witnessed this. My OB came in, listened to my complaints about feeling pain despite having the epidural, and called in a new anesthesiologist. Dr. Kopylov came in, pumped meds in the needle in my back and within minutes my baby popped right out AFTER 3 HOURS OF PUSHING WITHOUT AN EPIDURAL EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE NEEDLE IN MY BACK FOR 11 HOURS. Lam never came back to check on me after 5am and L&D nurse Faith refused to call him for me. I consulted with an unaffiliated anesthesiologist who said it was incredibly unusual for the anesthesiologist to not follow up with the patient after starting the epidural, and it was even more unusual for the nurse to not call him back after I complained that it wore off. Moreover, my time spent pushing might have been drastically reduced if I had been relaxed from the epidural, but instead I was tense for 3 hours which probably delayed delivery. After my baby was born, my husband and I were enjoying the "Golden Hour" with our baby boy. My baby latched immediately. While he was literally latched and breastfeeding, Faith came over, without us asking for her input, and leaned over, stuck her finger at where my baby was latched and said, "I'm trained in lactation and he's not hungry!" My doula (unaffiliated with Providence) witnessed everything and made a complaint on my behalf. The reason I had an unaffiliated doula is because of prior stories I had heard from others who gave birth at Cedars/Providence, and they suggested having an advocate. In hindsight, I should have just avoided Cedars/Providence altogether. No one from Providence ever contacted me about the complaint my doula made on my behalf. I tried calling Kopylov and Lam to find out what happened with the epidural but no one returned my call. Needless to say, I won't be going back for our second baby.

I enjoy the cleanliness of the facility and it's peaceful atmosphere. I have a spacious bedroom with my own private restroom. It's a lovely area. I adore the staff! The ladies are attentive and accommodating, friendly and helpful. The administrator is always available to talk to and quick with resolutions. Went to see one of my former coworkers' father who had just had a kidney transplant. When I walked in, the nurse was changing the bag that was hooked on him, so she told me to give them a minute or two before I can get back in. I waited in the lobby and once the nurse was done, I was able to walk back into the room. Since I was there, I also went to visit one of my friend's granddaughter. She is 18 and has a lot of health issues. May God help this young lady. I would rather not disclose any confidential information on her health. The care that both of those people are receiving at this facility is SUPERB! Nurses are always caring, compassionate and so are the doctors. I, myself, used to be with Kaiser, but when I got married, we went with UCLA. Since my estranged husband, my son and myself pay a lot less for the premium. I can't say enough good things about Kaiser hospitals. All the ones that I have visited. They accept credit cards and most insurance plans. They have a nice gift shop if you want to cheer your loved one with flowers or balloons. Parking is free and restrooms were spotless clean. 24/7. Thank you all at Kaiser Permanente. During my visit, I felt that my symptoms and concerns were repeatedly dismissed. I was not feeling well at all and came seeking answers regarding significant inflammation, pain, and signs of infection that were right on my face ! From the beginning of the visit, I felt that my concerns were not being taken seriously. According to the visit notes the doctor wrote , she advised she "offered me " a CBC test but yet did not do her job or care to do her job so that was a lie . no testing / ultrasound or xrays , bloodwork was performed here . Yet kaiser has the audacity to still bill me for this USELESS VISIT When I respectfully asked if another physician could evaluate me, I was told that I would need to be discharged and check back in, which was frustrating because they weren't going to check me back in which they directly told me ! I repeatedly expressed concern about my symptoms and asked if anything could be done to determine the cause of my condition. I was practically pleading with them and was emotional I was told that because I was not experiencing a life-threatening emergency, there was little else that could be done. While I understand emergency departments must prioritize critical cases, I left feeling unheard and without any answers. I was ultimately forced to seek care elsewhere. I went to Exer Urgent Care in West Hills, where I was evaluated and diagnosed with shingles. NOT COMMON FOR A 26 yrs old . Prior to that, I had only been advised by them that I had a swollen lymph node. I also have an issue with documentation in my medical record stating that I threatened legal action. I informed staff that I intended to file a complaint regarding my experience, but I did not threaten a lawsuit. I never had experiences like this at Kaiser facilities I previously visited, including Panorama City. Going forward, I will never come to this location again and will stick to porter ranch location or panorama city , they have such caring nurses and doctors !!! I DO NOT recommend this facility. I've been to Exer Urgent Care several times at different locations, and this one is by far my son's and my absolute favorite. In fact, he's the one who insisted I leave a 5-star review! I brought him in on a Sunday evening as a walk-in for an injury. The front office staff were very friendly, the facility was clean, and the entire visit was incredibly efficient. We were in and out within about 1 to 1.5 hours including 2 people ahead of us, and that included the waiting in lobby, exam, X-rays, receiving the results, and being fitted with a brace and crutches. Crystal, the MA, was so kind and sweet to my son, and Dr. Long was wonderful as well. He was very engaging, great with kids, and made my son feel comfortable throughout the visit. My son even commented afterward that he was a really good doctor and that he really liked him. The facility itself was very clean, which is always a huge plus. We had an excellent experience from start to finish, and I highly recommend this location to anyone in need of urgent care.
