At first, we…read morewere hesitant about eating at a food court as we imagined it would be like Taco Bell, Panda Express, Burger King, etc. But it turned out to be more like a modern food hall. It's inside a commercial building with over ten vendors offering a nice mix of cuisines: Vietnamese, Malaysian, Chinese, Mediterranean, and Korean, plus a few places for juice, açaí, and matcha drinks. We decided to try Eden Noodle, mainly because it had the longest line--which usually says something about how popular (and hopefully good) the food is. We ordered the pork ribs with rice noodles and the wontons in chili oil. We chose mild, but it was still quite spicy, so next time we'll definitely go for not spicy. The ordering process was super easy. You go to one of the three kiosks, grab a pager with a number, enter your order, pay, and wait for the buzzer to go off when your food's ready--it took about 15 minutes for ours. There's plenty of seating--tables, chairs, and benches--and you often end up sharing a table with strangers. That might feel unusual for Americans, but it actually reminded me of Hong Kong, where space is limited and communal dining is the norm. Overall, portion sizes were decent for the price, and the flavors were good--just a bit spicier than expected for "mild."

Never knew this, but quite a lot of restaurants (and stores) close early--before 8:30-9pm. Thankfully, King Made Noodle closes at 10pm on weekdays! So walking around Auckland evening into nighttime was quiet, but Fort Street, where King Made Noodles is located, had a few places open to eat. This really looked liked a fun place to eat, and it was! Really enjoyed the woodsy decor! The main thing, of course, is the hand made soup noodles where you can select the size of noodle you want. All the noodles are hand pulled to order. You can see the noodle master make it right next to the bar. There are also lamb skewers, dumplings, roujiamo (Chinese burger), and an array of small cold dishes such as wheat gluten, bean curd strips, wood ear mushrooms, lotus root, and etc. (very similar to China). Started with two appetizers: marinated bean curd strips, and seaweed salad. The Bean Curd Strips was simple, tasty, and tender. The Seaweed salad was very good. Tender, spicy, garlicky, and flavorful. Lamb Skewers were good. Nice, meaty pieces of tender lamb with the slightest gaminess. Nicely spiced, good char, but needed a touch more salt. Chinese Lamb Burger was good. The meat inside was basically the same as the lamb skewers, but the lamb in here was more dry and tough. It got hard to eat after a while. Lastly, the Traditional Beef Noodle Soup was good as well. The broth was decent--beefy, clean, and homey. The noodle was really good. You can definitely taste it's freshly made as it's light and springy. The beef itself was all right. Thin, lean, and tender. Similar to the beef slices in Pho. But overall seemed toned down. Overall, a nice place to grab food. I'm always happy to have fresh, hand-pulled noodles with authentic flavors with other authentic dishes. Service was good. You order at the front, and then find a place to sit. Everything is mostly self-service. Choose your beer from the fridge, get your utensils near the kitchen, grab your water from the dispenser near the front door. Food came out quick and hot.

The menu consists of all the usual in these sort of Japanese restaurant plus they have monthly specials. But I find their portions of meat a little less compared to another Japanese restaurant I reviewed but barring that it is equally delicious. Drinks are available as well as help yourself water. Soy sauce, Miso, Salt and Tonkotsu Ramen, four elementary Ramen but classic to choose. There are more to come if you would like some special treat to your noodle. Quite a Japan Style! Honestly, for this kind of noodle place, always try the basic and best one. Tonkotsu is not a bad choice. Nice soup, slow cooked pork slice, bamboo shoots and fresh spinach for a taste bonus. What's more, you can choose fried dumplings, they call Gyoza and some pork stew for small bites. They are both quite authentic. Just wish they could turn these seats a bit more tidy, then it would be closer to my Ramen Place expectation.

Having just come back from Chengdu and the flavours of their particular cuisine still " fresh " in my taste buds it was too much to walk past this place. Had to go in and try it out and see how it rates against the " real thing ". And we were not disappointed. Though a small place it felt welcoming as were the staff, and they have done the interior decor quite nicely too. Service was really good with the orders once taken , the food would come out quite quickly. We ended up ordering the steamed beef, of which I could have ate a lot more so delicious it was. Then came the steamed pork ribs which although small were as tasty as the last dish. The bigger dish of Loongs Special Beef Noodles ( I believe a " limited " edition so to speak? ) came next. Noodles and meatballs and other ingredients combined to make it yet another delicious dish. These guys were sure on their " A " game regarding everything thus far. We also ordered the steamed egg with pork mince. Enough said about the other dishes thus far....well this was well and truly on a par with them. Well I think I've said enough . I can totally recommend here . The service is great, as is the food and it is a nice atmosphere to sit in. Oh, and almost forgot to say that the price is not too bad either. Try it out!!!

But note that one cannot change the pick up time, food will be ready 15 minutes after the order has been placed. Their menu is varied and has a great selection of popular Asian dishes and caters for gluten free and paleo diets (and more, I'm sure! when ordering on the website one can make special requests such as no onion or more chilli sauce). Today I had a Vermicelli Beef salad and it was delicious! the dressing had a decen amount of crushed peanuts and was tangy and sweet, and the beef was not chewy or fatty. A great option for an Asian lunch in the CBD!
