Typical Berlin cramped-style supermarket - If you want a roomier or bigger version, they have a much larger location (same owners) only a small walk through the parking lot next door... but don't ignore this shop just because it is smaller, because sometimes they offer extra special things that you might not always find at the other location!

This is also the only place that I have found that sells the super delicious and healthy Pate di'Arachide variety of peanut butter. They don't have a very large produce section but what they do sell is usually fresh looking and relatively cheap. The coriander bunches from here are always more fresh than at the other Asian markets near me. Also the store is always very clean and well organized. Most of all, the location is great. It is right off of Alexplatz, close to an U-Bahn entrance, and next door to Alexa shopping center so you can stop in for a Starbucks on your way home!

Barely made it before he closed, but it was worth it. This is probably the best Latin market in the country, which makes sense since it's in the capital. Picked up some hot sauce, salsa verde, giant cans of hominy, some chicloso and other candies, and a bottle of Cazadores Reposado. The last one was a particular highlight for me because it is really hard to find tequila I like at German supermarkets. All this stuff made my bag pretty heavy on the train back home, but I don't regret it at all.

Reasonably priced with a huge selection, this is a joy for expats as well as anyone that likes Mexican food. Though there are several German-made products, it looks like the majority of the stuff is of Mexican manufacture. My goal during my last visit was to pick up a few Filipino ingredients. Although, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Korean ingredients and specialty foods are also sold at Asia Mekong: Sauces and spices, dried seaweed wrappers, assortments of bagged and loose leaf teas, oodles of noodles, and frozen dumplings (give em a try; they're surprisingly good for being frozen!) can all be found. Even freshly made packaged foods like Kimchi are available for purchase in the refrigerator section. What I especially enjoy about Asia Mekong are the familiar brands carried. I was fortunate to had discovered Spring Home brand egg roll wrappers, bottles of Datu Puti vinegar, and packages super sweet Philippine Dried Mangoes. Prices are reasonable, I believe, especially if you're on a tight budget; though, fresh foods do cost a little more. Service at Asia Mekong is efficient and friendly. They deliver some of the best customer service I've experienced during my weekly supermarket trips. Awesome selection of food, CLEAN shop, recognizable brands, and welcoming service: these are some of the factors that make Asia Mekong one of my favorite grocery stores to shop at in Berlin.
