It was clean, amazingly fun to see all the spaces. If you have a baby you'll want to baby wear them. Strollers can't go below deck because it's stairs. We took kids 2+ years old and it was possible and functional for them. Some of the stairs are tight or small spaces but you don't have to take the smallest stair you can take one main stair down and then back up. The crew were so kind and helpful! The atmosphere was light and jolly. We have a delightful time. There is a bathroom in their gift shop and benches by the gift shop for anyone who needs to sit. There is also parking just there near it, paid is what we used, not sure about unpaid. Worth every penny!

You'll see all kinds of seabirds sunbathing on rocks, as well as dolphins frolicking around the ships. They also have dolphin and scenic boat tours that leave from here as well. There are many photo opportunities including the whimsical "High Tide" sculpture by Charles Parks. It's very uplifting. This is also where you can find the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa Museum and the Ocean Star Oil Drilling Rig Museum. Many people stay at the Harbor House Hotel on the waterfront so that they can walk to the Strand Historic District. There are many good restaurants on the pier including Katie's Seafood House where you'll see the mosquito fleet of shrimp boats. We mainly enjoyed watching the wildlife while walking along the pier. It was a cool & breezy day. It was fun seeing the birds carrying around their fresh catch of the day. I totally recommend stopping here at some point while you're in town. It's a great start or end to a day of touring Galveston.

Our Carnival Breeze cruise was a fun trip, with a great mix of entertainment, activities, dining,…read moreand time to relax. Our cruise director was Adam, and his signature "Cheerio!" became one of the little things we'll remember from the trip. Our cabin steward was wonderful. He introduced himself within an hour of our room opening, quickly brought the blue blanket and fan I requested, cleaned our room daily, made the bed, brought fresh towels, and left towel animals. He was always friendly, remembered my name, and even noticed and reported a balcony leak that maintenance fixed within 24 hours. Our head server in the Blush Dining Room, Phung, and her assistants, Idewa and Gerald, were fantastic. They were attentive, fast, and especially patient with our kids. Phung went above and beyond, even recommending Filipino food available off the regular menu. The main dining room food was decent and, in my opinion, better than the buffet. One thing to note is that there was no lobster or escargot offered in the main dining room during our cruise. Food options are plentiful. The buffet is always packed. Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina are included/free (BlueIguana also has some paid options), and both can have long lines. Bagels at Sea is worth the wait--the bagels are small, but you can order multiple. The line may be short but can move slowly. Pig & Anchor is included/free, but it was mediocre and definitely not Texas BBQ. Overall, the food is okay, but there's something for everyone. I purchased the CHEERS! Zero Proof package and thought it was worth it. It includes mocktails, specialty coffees, sodas, energy drinks, and milkshakes. There's a 10-minute wait between drinks. The package is cheaper to purchase before the cruise, and not every adult in the cabin has to purchase it. The Carnival Hub app was extremely useful throughout the cruise. We could check the daily itinerary, activity times, and hours for restaurants, shops, pools, shows, and different areas throughout the ship. It also allows you to chat with your companions on the cruise for $5 per person for the entire cruise, not $5 per day. You can purchase the chat feature for multiple people through one account as long as you add them as companions. There is something to do for everyone of all ages, whether you want to relax, participate in activities, or meet and have fun with other cruisers. There were also fun theme nights that gave everyone a chance to dress up, participate, and enjoy the evening together. We also heard about a hidden spot on Deck 9 at the front of the ship, but unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check it out. One thing to keep in mind: food isn't allowed in the Ovation Theater or casino areas--drinks only. There are separate smoking and non-smoking casinos on different floors, though the non-smoking casino is much smaller. Also, tea time is only offered on sea days, so plan accordingly if you want to attend! Overall, the crew, service, activities, and variety made this a trip to remember. The BREEZE needs to be put DOWN... Take her to the Bone Yard!…read moreCarnival asked for feedback after our cruise, so here it is. SHIP / OVERALL EXPERIENCE: The ship's layout is horrible, and the Breeze is OLD, rusty, and in serious disrepair. It desperately needs TLC and honestly feels like it should have been dry-docked years ago. We heard the same thing OUT LOUD from many other guests. The SEWER SMELL throughout the ship was absolutely awful -- one of the worst parts of the entire trip. There were also far too many rude, disruptive guests with very little staff intervention. Kids were farting in elevators and laughing, running downstairs to repeat it in the next elevator, screaming through hallways, and knocking on cabin doors and running. We reported this several times. One staff member actually told us they "can't/don't say anything because then we won't get tips." At Guy's Burger Joint, 20+ teenage boys cut directly to the ordering point in a very long line. Guests were furious. The Carnival employee saw the entire thing and did NOTHING. A fight started -- and he still just watched. There was ZERO beverage service in the casino. Check our records -- we barely had anything to drink (in there), although we sure DONATED plenty of money! An ADULT defecated in the pool. Everyone had to be evacuated. Absolutely disgusting. FASTER TO THE FUN was basically useless. Our ticket reflected boarding between 8:00-9:00, yet we were not allowed to board until after 11:00. During debarkation, we were simply placed in line with everyone else, pass or no pass. The only real benefit was the Guest Services line, which we needed because of several issues, including problems with the HUB App. Drink quality was wildly inconsistent around the ship. The same drink tasted completely different from bar to bar, with no apparent recipe standard. Some alcohol tasted like cheap rubbing alcohol. The late-night Lido "buffet" felt much more like a continental breakfast/snack setup than what was promoted. The final TWO days became nonstop begging for survey scores, especially in dining areas: "Please take the survey," jokes about "10 being good," etc. It became exhausting and uncomfortable. This did NOT come from our dining room servers. Carnival also refused to let us bring bottled water onboard because of "reducing plastic," yet one of the first things we saw in our stateroom was bottled water in PLASTIC for $4.50 each. That felt incredibly hypocritical. TEAM MEMBERS WHO DESERVE RECOGNITION: Our room steward, HASTO, was wonderful -- kind, polite, low-key in the best way, and simply a good human. Dining Room: RASMUDI, ROWAN, and TENDAI were outstanding. They were kind, efficient, gracious, and genuinely served with heart. They knew how to "read the room," meet guests where they were, and never made us feel uncomfortable if we didn't care for something. They simply offered another option or accommodated a special request. THEY are why we returned every night. Rasmudi is also an excellent team leader. He was always respectful and kind to Rowan and Tendai -- never demanding. Guests notice that too. And yes, Rasmudi, you ARE funny! SERENITY / "LADIES NIGHT": We were sold a special "Ladies Night" experience beginning at 8:00. My adult daughter and I arrived early and were excited. While waiting, we watched a male employee remove champagne glasses upside down from a container, swipe each glass across his SHIRT to flip it, then place it on the counter -- repeatedly. Gross. He then poured mimosas. My daughter accepted one; it contained a tiny amount of champagne and was filled to the brim with orange juice. He clearly did not know the ratio. At 8:00, more ladies arrived. Staff began whispering and scattering around while everyone sat wondering when the event would begin. Three additional women arrived unprepared and were encouraged to return to their staterooms to change, while everyone who arrived ON TIME was expected to sit and wait. Then came a sales pitch disguised as "relax and enjoy your time." By 8:20, the event still had not started. We finally left. Staff stared at us, then at one another. It felt disorganized, childish, and disrespectful of everyone's time. HUB APP: Carnival already knows the HUB App has problems. FIX IT. There was much more, but the bottom line is simple: this was NOT a good cruise experience. The wonderful individuals named above deserve recognition, but they were bright spots in an experience that was otherwise deeply disappointing.

Galveston used to be a bustling, metropolitan and diverse city with languages from all over the world being spoken here. When the East Coast talked of limiting immigration, especially to Jews fleeing Russian pogroms, New York financier and philanthropist Jacob Schiff and Galveston's B'nai Israel's Rabbi Henry Cohen spearheaded the Galveston Plan to reroute Jewish immigrants from the East Coast to Texas. There was a substantial fear that the poverty, overcrowding and cultural differences in Jewish immigrant neighborhoods would increase anti-Semitic frustrations on the East Coast, which would then lead to immigration restrictions on Jews. While some Jews fleeing pogroms fled to Palestine, tens of thousands of them came to Galveston to settle in the South and Midwest. Not only was Galveston a place for freedom for immigrants fleeing persecution abroad, Galveston was an important stop on runaway slaves' path to Mexico or even Northern states that had outlawed slavery. I didn't know any of this before visiting this museum. The museum at this historic seaport was incredibly informative and so well done. Our ticket came with entry to the museum and access to the tall ship Elissa and we paid for an add-on of the Galveston harbor tour in a boat. It was an excellent tour, the ship was actively being trained on and restored while we were there and the museum was fantastic. Highly recommended! Visited November 2025

JUST A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO " ZIPP E BIKES" 2311 MECHANIC AVE…read more Took my E Bike for service, no appointment...Needed a new crank arm and pedal Figured id have to leave the bike for a couple days which is tough because it's my only mode of transportation. Phillip came outside, took a look, grabbed some tools , a set of pedals and a luckily had a used Crank Arm and went to work immediately. He took extra care to lock down everything and I mentioned I had Brake issues, wondering how much a Brake change would cost, he again grabbed his tools and quicklt tightened my Brakes. He only charged me for the pedals and $ 10.00 for labor, clearly well below what was due, No Complaints....Was expecting $50-70 because of what other EBike shops on island quoted. ZIPP E BIKES HAS EARNED A LOYAL CUSTOMER. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL YOUR BIKE NEEDS, Electric or Not.

Saturday, April 23 - Carnival has a whole new boarding procedure, but it seems cumbersome and needlessly time consuming. The only benefit we noticed was that entering the ship was easier. There was no long line on the gangway; once you climbed up the boarding ramp, you could walk right on the ship and head to Lido deck for lunch.) One other major change is in their Safety briefing at muster stations. Now, all passengers must go to their muster station and have a five minute demonstration of the lifejackets and proper procedure to receive emergency siren sounds. It was very quick and easy for us, but we heard many announcements begging passengers to go and do their safety briefing so that we could leave on time. After our safety briefing, we went to Lido (Deck 10) for lunch. We had 2 days at sea and enjoyed the specialty restauranst (for a fee). Note that if you eat at the steakhouse on the 1st night, you get a free bottle of wine! First Stop - Mahogany Bay Mahogany Bay, Roatan. We took the Carnival excursion to Maya Isle and had a blast as well as a great lunch. Take time to see all the rehab animals! Next stop - Belize. The excursion to Rendezvous Quay for snorkeling and lunch was excellent!! Lastly, Cozumel. Shopping and lunch at the port (because we've been there so often). Higly recommend: Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Cucina del Capitano, JiJi's, Bonzai, the SkyRide, the Ropes Course, and the Hubble movie at the Imax.

They did a great job on the embarkation process, even with the Covid checks the process was very smooth and smooth. In fact, faster than the embarkation process prior to the pandemic. Everything was normal except masks were required embarking/departing the ship at ports and at the Galveston cruise port. I have sailed with Carnival Cruise lines on 3 previous ships, this was my first trip on the Carnival Vista, this was my favorite cruise and ship thus far. The Ship has all the same restaurants as the other ships, in addition it has an IMAX Theater and Sky Ride. The food was the same as the other ships, some of my favorites were Guy Fieri's Burger Joint & Pig & Anchor BBQ. The comedians at the comedy club were amazing, and the IMAX Theater (an additional cost) was as good as a normal IMAX Theater. The service throughout the cruise was top-notch, from the formal dinning staff, housekeeping staff, excursion staff and bar staff. I highly recommend sailing with Carnival Cruise line and sailing on the Carnival Vista.
