Convenient airport…read more It's relatively small. You can park right in front of it. Unfortunately this is where the convenient part ends. There are may be two to three restaurants inside, or perhaps better said cafés, including a Starbucks that has particularly sweet coffee. Not a lot of options for food and the food they have is barely edible. As far as bag drop goes, the people working there are generally rude and take forever. I expected this in Paris but not in Nantes where people are generally friendly. I wasn't left too impressed with this airport, especially seeing as I was in an ankle brace and they didn't really seem to have a lot of handicap options. I mainly say this as I think of how I got stuck taking stairs because their elevator didn't work. Again, the only convenience is the parking. That and the fact that it's small. Fortunately for us all, this airport isn't reminiscent of Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. I shudder just thinking about that airport.

They have reasonable connections to many of Europe's cities, and many of them offer very reasonable prices. During our trip to the Loire Valley, we flew into this airport from Nice since the air travel was much cheaper than the train, the travel time was much less, and we got a rental car too tour the Loire Valley. It was well worth it. If you travel to this area, there are several other airports nearby. Definitely check your airfares versus the train. Flying here might be well worth your time!

The seats were spacious and they even announced the stops in both English and French. Oddly enough, though, when we arrived to Nantes, the signs were in English, French, and German. All that said, unlike the train station in Paris, the one in Nantes had a parking garage nearby, plus many shops around. That turned out to be great for us as we got picked up quickly and went off to our next destination. Not a bad trip if I do say so myself.

Reviewing a train station feels like a preposterous task, it really does... however... Nantes train…read morestation (or Malakoff/Saint-Donatien de Nantes or whatever you might call it) left a very good impression on an English idiot bumbling around a place where they no doubt speak English better than I, but gracefully put up with my attempts to speak in French. It's a big ol' station and gloriously industrial. It reminded me of a regenerated Northern town train station - incredibly modern but with loads of old character. Buying tickets was an absolute doddle and the staff were incredibly helpful. Just outside the station, should you have to hang around whilst waiting for a train or catching a bus to the nearby airport, is a bunch of painfully great looking surroundings, with a cool little church, a river to sit beside and a great little park straddling it to idle away some minutes. Nantes is a really great city and this train station sits in the hub of it and does it justice. Maqnifique.
