In August 2022 I was approached by a sales representative who claimed i could use EcoShield's services once and cancel within 3 business days per their company policy. Even after I canceled within the policy time frame (and received confirmation of cancellation), EcoShield employees continued to enter my property and bill me for their services without notifying me first. What a complete scam of a company. NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH. Long story short, their door-to-door sales, aggressive solicitation model found its way to my street and against my better judgment I signed up when the door-to-door person told me that there would be absolutely no cancellation fee if I tried the service. I brought up the $150 discount thing and he said no no will waive that if you sign up today. After about a year, I decided that the service wasn't worth the money and went to go cancel and they came back and said you owe us $150. I tried calling never got a call back from a manager finally I called in for the fourth time and asked to speak to a manager directly and they refused saying you're going to owe us the money and if not, it's going to a collection agency. Absolutely horrific. There are law suits against them for there illegal solicitation model / contracts in Michigan among other states. There is no charge for repeat treatment or stronger treatment for pests. This has happened once and the problem was taken care of. I did start the service when a gentleman came to my door. I told him that I had no use for his services and then proceeded to question me about what issues I have. Ending up asking to use my bathroom. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. They scam you using deceptive practices. We were explicitly told by Jonny, the salesman, that we could "cancel at any time." To our surprise, when we tried to cancel the agent told us we signed a contract that states the 1 year period. She forwarded us the document, which contains my electronic signature, however, I have never seen the form before. The day Jonny came to our door he got my electronic signature on his cellphone for what he said was to "start the service, but was not the official contract." As the customer we were not accurately told the terms and conditions of the contract, including the duration of the service and any cancellation or refund policies. We signed what we did not know was a contract without understanding the real terms and conditions because we were told otherwise by Jonny. Without the ability to accurately review what we were explicitly told was NOT the contract. This was explicitly contradicted by Jonny who assured us that we could 1. cancel at any time and 2. were not signing the official contract. There are 2 major legal issues here. Misrepresentation: EcoShield made false and misleading statements regarding the terms of the contract, where we (and probably many other customers) were misled and did not understand the terms and never saw the actual contract. Deceptive practices: The seller used deceptive practices to induce us to enter into the contract unknowingly, which makes the contract unenforceable. True to form, when you call in the company will hang up on you, connect you to different people each time, not call back, or make threats about charging penalty fees if you try to cancel. If this has happened to you, you can report the fraudulent behavior to the FTC, State Attorney General, and Better Business Bureau. read more

If I could rate lower I would. Worst decision ever to trust someone coming to my door and a tough and expensive lesson learned. They charged me $600 for what they called an Exclusion" service to seal possible openings for mice in my house. I believed the door to door sales team, gave them multiple chances to take care of the bugs after their service didn't work initially, and now I'm left with a big bill and lots of bugs. TERRIBLE SERVICE - I had been happy with their insect control service, so I signed up for their wildlife service. I met with a rep who had me sign an agreement on their phone before he placed any traps. But, after a bit, it was clearly not working. So another tech came out a few weeks later. It was still not working a week or so later. Then another tech came out and determined no one had ever baited the traps. He was very upset and said he would notify management. I was still charged for 3 visits ($450) and no credit was ever provided. A few months later (and many more charges), I was noticing that the traps had not been touched and no service techs appeared on my security cameras. I called to complain and they sent me forms alleging service was being provided as scheduled. I took them at their word and met the reps for the next few appts. During one of these meetings with their service tech, I asked them to added traps and be sure to bait them. But one or two appts later, I notice raccoons had torn the traps open. I took picture to send them. But a day later, they had a regular service call scheduled. So, I figured they would replace the traps. Instead, the traps had not been replaced or even moved. It was clear no one ever showed up. BUT - I was charged for the service ($150), which was clearly never done. An EcoShield sales rep named William came to my door to sell me a 2 day pest control service that was $159.00 per service. He explained to me that the first service was to rid my exterior of spiders and that the next service call would be to remove the eggs etc. After to agreeing to these 2 services, he handed me the tablet to sign for my credit card payment. Unbeknownst to me, he had just misled me to signing a 12-month contract with EcoShild. After I was prompted about my 3rd service call (that I never agreed to) I called the company to cancel any further service calls. At this time, this is when I was made aware that their service rep had lied to me, mislead me, and unprofessionally knew that I was unaware of what I was signing. The call center would not remove me from my contract and they zero empathy to my situation. I spoke to a customer service supervisor named Jade and she continued to try and sell me products instead of actively listening to my complaint. There was no resolution and Jade and EcoShield as a whole said "Sorry about the miscommunication, however, we will not be terminating your contract." People are weary when a person of color comes to your door and knocks. I can say that as I'm a person of color married to a caucasian. Once you get to know these guys they are actually quite fun. These guys listen to all my needs, made sure it was covered the day of the first install. Gave me a clear path of expectations and road map ahead. Knowing there are some bad stuff about these guys on YELP, they are trying to improve their image. Would you rather you have someone lie to you or be honest that riding up to a house on a hover board was wrong and try to gain your business back? I want the guys willing & wanting to repair. Three emails, two phone calls later and a 20-minute hold I finally got someone on the phone who said I had actually signed a 12 month contract and it would be $450 cancelation fee. The sales guy didn't send me the contract until after it was signed and had me sign on an iPad so I wasn't permitted to read the whole thing carefully before signing which lesson learned - but the sales guy DID NOT accurately explain what I was purchasing.
