This is s low budget hotel. Didn't clean our room one day. The complimentary breakfast is way below average.

Time for my yearly review of L&CR. We stayed here twice this year and in the same cabin to boot. We…read morelike that it fits the whole family, has a full size refridgerator and stove/oven. The rooms are dated and the decor is very rustic, it doesn't seem like over the last three years they've made many updates, but it hasn't had gone too down hill. I recommend only reserving a lake view, because it not much to look at with the court yard. There are tons of amenities for larger family groups like basketball, volleyball courts, play ground, pool, fire pits, pavillions, etc. The coffee and donuts they bring in are a hit with the kids. We really enjoy the walking path and of course the views of the lake. It is on the steeper side, if you are staying during peak season, it's about $500 a night which is pricey for what you're getting. Then in the fall it drops to about $260 a night, which again, is for a 3bd cabin, is not bad if you split it. For the price, I would expect a little more. We've stayed here overall 5 times and can't find another spot like it that offers all you get. I do encourage folks to stay here at least once.

They partied so loudly, well beyond midnight. Could not enjoy the camp fire due to loud music and partying. Took the kids to the playground next morning and there were red solo cups everywhere from drinking the night before. What a joke! WILL NOT be back! BTW- Floors in the cabin were FILTHY and hadn't been swept or mopped! DISGUSTING!!

It has succumbed to years of neglect, and the continued degradation has taken its toll, aesthetically and functionally. Mere cosmetics have been applied to exterior surfaces in attempt to cover the large number of structural & interior deficiencies. Interior bricks are literally crumbling, leaving dust & residue all over the floors. Mold surrounds the shower & tub walls. Mold is present in the cabinets. Plumbing often fails. This place was "renovated" many years ago, and really has not been kept-up since. Again, hence the recent "for sale" listing. The passing of one's problems to another.

A woman died here. No Kidding…read more This building has been a strange mix of over-flow rooms for the Riverfront Events Center on the lower and substandard apartments on the top floor. Among those upper floor déclassé apartments was a hard-working woman that sadly inherited the new Owner, whom largely neglected those apartments. The ceiling was falling from constant roof leaks, floors were rotting from water damage, windows were broken out, etc. Pigeons were allowed to enter the apartment for some time through those broken windows. Carpeting was absolutely covered in pigeon poop. Disgusting! When this woman/tenant didn't show for work after a few days, a welfare check was done, and they found her inside, deceased. I can't imagine what she had to live through in these squalor conditions. How can any property owner be so neglectful, cold, calloused, insensitive, etc? Beware!

I thought this was a cute cozy little place, rooms where a decent size. Good prices. I was tempted…read moreto stay because I liked the place. The building maybe old....IDK but I could tell they took care of the place. It was better then a motel 8 I stayed @ in peirre SD. Better then the place I am staying in now writing this review. The place I am in now in Omaha is a S*** hole. :( whyy?!??!! lol.. o-well I haven't seen a bug yet, and haven't gotten any bites yet, and they do no refunds. Everything worked here, there where a few light bulbs out but none that where of any importance. I should have maybe said something to the girl @ the front desk, but I was only staying one night. The lady @ the front desk was polite and allowed me to move into a diff room, then what she originally put me in, b.c. the original room was sorta in the back and was harder to get to, and I just like to be able to walk out of my room car parked right outside my door, and go... which is why I usually avoid those large motels, where you have to walk down the long hall, down the stairs past the front office, and to your car. There where no single bedrooms open so I got to stay in a 2bedroom. SCORE! for the price of a one bedroom. The furniture was fashionable-cute. I really thought this was a cute place. The blue towels where a nice touch. I was so comfy here I was late for check out. hehe.. oops. I hope they didn't notice. I slept past the alarm clock. & went into the front office and put the key in the drop box. They didn't ask for a deposit that I remember. They did have some muffins, pastries, cereal, milk, orange juice, in the breakfast area. I only know this b.c. I went into the breakfast area when I was trying to go to where the ice was. I took a chocolate muffin. The internet didn't work that well on my Ipad, but my computer internet worked. I was @ a far bedroom far from the front office, and I think that maybe why my internet was having a few issues. not sure, usually @ motels that are small motels not large chains they have the router in the front office and the rooms farther from the main base have slower internet. Thumbs up on this place. Everything was so cute. I really wanted to stay but I needed to go to a larger city to get some things done @ best buy, my bank, and take a little break from work. The only thing I didn't like was it was on a busy street. I didn't hear much noise but getting out of the building I had to wait for traffic to be clear cause it's on the main street in Yankton. I'd stay here again.

Needs improvement and more/better staff…read more As I travel long distances for work, I just look for an inexpensive place to catch a night of rest at before hitting the road again in the morning. Even with my low expectations, I was not very impressed with my stay here. They are a Travelodge, but it's clearly a Super 8 that was recently bought or otherwise taken over. Most of the Super 8 signs have black garbage bags over them, but here and there the old signs remain. Okay. Not a big deal, but the staff didn't exactly give a warm welcome either. I arrived shortly before 11 p.m. and no one was at the "24 hour" front desk. I called on the phone, explaining that I had a reservation and needed to check in. I was abruptly told "we don't have any rooms." I calmly explained that I booked through Wyndham Rewards and she finally said she'd come down. You shouldn't have to fight to check-in. More about her later. The rooms were tolerable, but again, partially remodeled by Super 8 and partially in dire need of updating. It feels like they ran out of money (or motivation) to finish bringing this place up to par. Breakfast in the morning was very limited. I expect better from Wyndham, but I wasn't able to eat anything here. I went to check out and no one was around. The same woman from the previous night was apparently cleaning rooms. Is she the only person this place has working? Overall, they need to finish remodeling, hire/schedule more staff and freshen this place up if they want to satisfy customers.

This was, hands down, the worst experience, we have ever had in a hotel. If I could write less than…read moreone star I would...My wife, myself, and my dog simply wanted a decently priced hotel to stay at after being at the river all day. I thought there is no way these reviews could be accurate so I booked it. Two things happened that were ridiculous. I learned that paying a pet deposit can be the most excruciatingly painful thing ever and I learned that even if the air conditioner cover falls off and the air conditioner stops working it isn't the staff's responsibility. First, because I booked my room through Expedia, they claimed (in a major language barrier) that they would not take my debit card or credit card to pay for the $10 pet deposit, but instead, kept insisting that I must pay cash... Well, it isn't as if I didn't have ten bucks, I just never carry cash on me, and I wasn't about to go drive around looking for an ATM at 11 at night, pay a damn ATM fee, all while my debit card works perfect. He starts to raise his voice and tells me he can only accept cash. I again explained that it doesn't say this on the website or on the pet fee sign and makes zero sense. His brother and dad, or some family members come out...neither of whom speak English... The older guy just points to the sign saying to pay the pet deposit and then gets way too close. They both proceed to stand on either side of me, while the guy behind the counter, stares at me with his hand open.  Obviously, this display by these three was an attempt to intimidate me, but it had the opposite effect. I told them this type of display towards their customers is not only ridiculous, but pathetic as well and that there was no way I'm paying cash for sure now. They then said I'd have to call Expedia, and pay my $10 pet deposit, with my debit card, to them. I called them, and because I prepaid already they couldn't accept anymore money, but graciously called the Hotel and negotiated to allow me to pay with my card... The fucking $10 pet fee. We went to the front desk and they started arguing again and said, "I told you 45 times already we don't do this", but begrudgingly took my card and ran it. Later in the night...our air conditioner cover fell off and, at the same moment, our air stopped working. It was 100 degrees today, and about 90 when this happened. I went to the front desk and asked if it could either be fixed or if they could get us a different room..Response: "It's really hot right now and this happens from time to time. We have some guys coming out to fix it in the next few weeks. Really nothing we can do." I seriously can't believe either of these things happened. We don't expect much, especially what we were paying. But this is completely unacceptable and we will never go back to this place again.
