We stayed at the Econo Lodge from 10/3 to 10/4. Mitch and Marla the owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed spending time talking to them. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Looking forward to see how this place evolves. Very good value for your money.

We needed to stay in the area for one night before a wedding. Now you might not think that would be…read moreproblematic, but it was, considering 1) it was prime Leaf Peeping season, 2) it was a holiday weekend, and 3) the chain hotels that hadn't yet sold out insisted on a two night minimum. So for all of those reasons, we ended up with a one-night reservation at the Mount Whittier Motel in Ossipee and paid $119 for a super clean and neat room. Our positive experience started off when we walked into the office to check in and met Amy -one of the coolest, most engaging, delightful and just plain nice persons we've met in a long time.  She recommended a few restaurants to us, then we shot the breeze and gabbed with her as if she was an old college friend, really -- she was that much fun. Our motel room was a big main room with an attached bath. The main room was big enough, had a TV with a lot of channels, a fridge and microwave, and had plenty of electric outlets. It had one night stand, a pole lamp and a table lamp on the nightstand. The bathroom was bigger than some of the ones we squeezed into at a chain hotel- where the act of closing the door comes THISCLOSE to hitting the toilet. The shower was great with plenty of hot water and pressure. Its located right on Route 16 with plenty of restaurants to the left and the right. Improvement Opportunities Be careful inputting their address into your GPS. We had some trouble finding it because there is an Ossipee and a Central Ossipee and our GPS got confused (or maybe it was operator error?). There's no coffee maker in the room, but coffee is available in the office And then there is the bed with the softest, fluffiest, squishiest mattress ever seen. It was like sleeping on a giant marshmallow or a half filled waterbed. Laying down on one side caused the other side to rise up into the air and set off ripples like an aftershock. It definitely took some getting used to. Bottom line? All in all we had a very good experience at the Mount Whittier Motel.

I remember back in 94, I met a guy from Louisiana at my house party in Sunderland, MA. He said how…read moresurprised he was to see how prices were so inflated in the northeast. I really didn't believe him but then lived around the country and understood what he meant. I forgot about that for a long time until I checked into the Mount Whittier Hotel. It's kind of rural but still in civilization to be fair. I was surprised it was about $85/night. Keep in mind this is Ossipee, New Hampshire; POPULATION: 1,711. The room and bathroom is small and basic but clean. You can hear the cars driving by except from about midnight to 5 AM. The family is really nice and before I left, the father gave me a hot cup of masala tea - YUM! But I suggest that they have an iron and ironing board in each room instead of having to go to the front desk to get it. The set up outside is similar to the Bates Motel...time to shower!

The gentlemen at the counter initially accused us of not having a reservation, said that we changed it, and we ultimately had to show him our phone. The room was right around the corner. It seemed reasonably clean but was tiny to have a queen bed. The window was open but there were no screens to keep bugs out. The towels in the bathroom were thin, in absorbent, and crusty. Clean, but far from what you'd expect even at an entry level hotel. There was a bunch of commotion going on in the hotel and to be honest it felt like some other business was being run out of here. The back door had a broken lock allowing free access through the night, which is not good given this place sits right on a main road. We were worried about bed bugs but the mattresses had plastic covers (conclude what you will). We were so uncomfortable with the whole thing that we forfeited our reservation, made a reservation about 40 minutes north at the White Mountain hotel. A beautiful resort with free breakfast in a restaurant looking over the mountains, amenities, grounds, etc. The cost was $500 vs $300 night but it was like being on a honeymoon vs the rundown roadside motel that was Day's Inn. The plaque on the wall says their Day's Inn franchise license expires in 2025. If anyone from corporate comes near this place, you will see a different sign out front in 2026.

A Marriot hotel offered at a slightly upgraded economy price. The location is perfect with a Market Basket, liquor store, BK and McDonalds nearby, as well as restaurants off course. Big parking lot nicely landscaped too. We had 2 different rooms. our bad as in retrospect we would have been happy with just the original 2 bed setup, but boss lady wanted a suite which is much larger and equipped with a desk, a second TV and a sleep-able couch. It was super roomy and more money but not necessary and I wouldn't do it again. Regular room is sufficient. The AC was great and quiet. That is huge plus to me who didn't have to use earplugs! I had no problem navigating the cable and Netflix. The bath and shower were good, (the suite had a bathtub). Didn't utilize the heated pool or gym but both looked fine, certainly adequate if you must use the treadmill on your stay. I really enjoyed the breakfast. Both days the hosts were super friendly and let's see scrambled or hard-boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, bagels, English muffins, cereals, yogurt, banana etc. The coffee which was very much needed was excellent. Here is where they won the "above and beyond award". Left my pillow LOL how could it be, it's my best friend. Anyways I called up Monday afternoon upon arriving home and after saying OMG 5 times I called the hotel and spoke to Collin who assured me that it happens all the time hmm ok there are other idiots like me. He said UPS will pick it up and they would run my card for the exact cost and ship it to me. Lo and behold today is only Wed and I have my pillow back! Great job Collin my employee of the month!

Quiet convenient hotel near amenities (gas, supermarket, fast food, short ride to downtown…read morePlymouth). Room was clean and appeared to have been updated recently although the wallpaper hanger clearly didn't care about the repeat in the pattern. ;) Microwave, coffee machine and frig. were available in the room. The only chair in the king room was the desk chair and there probably was not any room for it. The bathroom had a walk in shower but the toilet was very low. Cookies were available in late afternoon. Breakfast on the weekend started at 6:30 am, a bit too late for us to take advantage of before hitting the road. Front desk folks were pleasant and helpful.
