Not fancy but clean with comfortable king size bed and decent price. It was nice they had an available room late at night.

Best Western Emporia Inn - Exterior

The room and location were fine, but the removed stars are due to service…read more I arrived for my check-in (I had booked online through the BW website). The front desk was unmanned. Her purse, cell phone and other belongings just sitting there unattended. Since I could hear voices inside the open door, I waited patiently assuming there was a ringer or camera that would alert them someone is at the desk. I waited several minutes. Finally, I said loudly "Would it be possible for me to check in?" I didn't want to be rude, but just wanted to get someone's attention. No response. I could hear them just gabbing away back there. So I waited a bit longer, probably a couple of more minutes. I said again loudly "Would it be possible for me to check in?" There was no bell or anything, but there was a plastic sign there, so I tapped it on the front desk and that finally got her attention. The person came out and said "oh we couldn't hear you over the laundry". Maybe so, but I could hear them just gabbing away. She starts to check me in and starts asking me questions like where I made my reservation, etc. I don't know why she was asking this. I stay at BW frequently and don't get asked that question. I stood there, stood there, finally she gets to the actual check in part. I don't usually travel with the credit card I book my room with, which has never been a problem. I gave her a different card, which didn't phase her a bit. She gave the keys and invited me to take my loyalty gift of 2 bottles of water -- better than nothing, I suppose. I go out to the car to get Mom. Thankfully I'd left her out there for all the waiting. We get upstairs to our room and the keys won't work. They trigger the lock, but we keep getting a red light. I am standing there holding our bags, so Mom goes down and the same person comes back with her and gives us new/updated keys that work. (Albeit the door did seem to hang up a bit on the latch even once the keys triggered the green light.) I do appreciate that she came back up to ensure they'd work. The room was comfortable and had everything you need for a quick, overnight stay. They had the A/C on polar blast, but that was an easy adjustment. I knew we were by the highway, but hadn't paid a lot of attention to other stuff nearby when I booked the room and was very nervous when I looked outside and saw that we were behind Walmart. I assumed we'd be hearing big trucks all night as there were several coming and going when we checked in. We settled in a bit, then headed out to have a quick meal. Once we got back, we crashed out since we'd had a long day of driving. The beds were comfortable. I was pleased to have full sized pillows in generous quantities. I am a pillow-fort kind of sleeper. :) We had a quiet night. VERY QUIET. Like amazingly quiet considering our location. Next morning, we headed down to the breakfast buffet. It was clean. We were there about halfway through the time. Unfortunately the regular waffle batter was empty, so I had to settle for the strawberry flavor. There was sausage and eggs, hasbrowns, biscuits and a tiny bit of gravy left along with some other standard items. By then the room attendant made an appearance and was then underfoot and kind of annoying the rest of our meal. I don't want to sound unfriendly, but also, I am not interested in discussing our travel with strangers or small talk while I'm just trying to eat my breakfast. Go fill the waffle batter or gravy... We go back up to our room since the checkout time is very generous and we weren't in a hurry. Once we got everything packed up to head out, it was maybe about 10am and we could hear housekeeping in the hallways, understandably. We head out of the room to find that housekeeping has all their "stuff" blocking the hallway. The trolley thing, bags of laundry etc. It's like a mine field. We're carrying our luggage and trying to squeeze through this narrow area (because there are little decorative columns along the hallway that jut out and of course they park the trolley right there where it's most narrow). So as I am getting the trolley -- we're grumbling about the space -- and I reach out just to roll the trolley a bit in one direction to get it out of the narrow spot and the housekeeper comes out and body blocks me from moving the trolley. Won't move the trolley, so I have to squeeze thru this very narrow space carrying our bags and she says "sorry". Yeah, if you were sorry, then take an action instead of standing there causing more problems. Later, I get home and realize there was a note on the receipt they'd slid under the door stating they were sorry they charged the wrong credit card and that they didn't know how to fix it but they'd try to get the manager to fix it later. This bugged me that they didn't call me or talk to me as I was leaving. Anyway, I'm out of room for this review. :)

Nice room though book off of hotels.com because at the desk they will simply charge you more.. rip…read moreoff i think...

As others have mentioned, this is no longer a Motel 6. I figured it was close enough to being…read morecorporate that it would still be well kept regardless of ownership, and it is. Everything works, rooms are clean. Didn't have that odd suspicious air (or the weird smell in the air) of the Super 8. Walls are a bit thin - I was woken up at 4 AM by someone talking in the lobby. And that's because there's only one wifi hub, so it was a room next to the lobby with wifi or on the quiet end without reliable wifi. That, plus I had to wall off part of the bed with a pillow fort because it would squeak and sag if I rolled onto it, lowers the rating to 3 stars. I didn't have a bad experience here, but I would recommend paying more elsewhere for better.

Very inexpensive and clean…read more Along the way across eastern Kansas, this Motel 6 is very reasonably priced. It's one of the cheapest motels I've found anywhere in Kansas, for that matter. How does it stack up? I've stayed there twice now and the inside has been at least partially renovated, recently. The rooms are basic, but clean with comfortable beds. I can't really complain, but keep in mind that this is a Motel 6 and don't expect anything too fancy or luxurious. Finally, the parking lot was spacious, so I liked that as well. The bottom line is, if you need a clean bed and a hot shower for the night in eastern Kansas, but don't want to break the bank, give this Motel 6 a shot.
