We used to do the majority of our shopping here on our visits to this area, but these days we tend to go the branches of Intermarché that are around.
On the face of it, the Géant should win our custom hands down. It is big, well lit, well stocked, the aisles are wide and uncluttered, there are rotating themes of products by the entrance, there are dozens of checkouts, they stock a huge range of products, there is a loyalty card, the car parking is excellent, there is a decent cafeteria on the premises.
So why don't we use it so much any more?
Quite simply, price.
Intermarché is much cheaper than Géant for virtually everything. Shopping in Géant is a more pleasant experience, and there is a much wider range of stock, especially non-food items, but in the end, most of our shopping is for food, and they're just too dear.
The store has a good petrol station, is situated in a thriving area of Agen/Boé, is next to a Leader Price store, is convenient for going on to other stores, like Castorama, Conforama, Carrefour, Darty, etc., etc.
But until the Casino group does something about prices, we'll stick with their competitors.
