One of the highlights was learning how to make mini cheesecakes using walnuts and tofu. I never imagined something so simple and wholesome could taste that good. They came out creamy, perfectly sweet, and honestly better than most dairy versions I've had. The instructor was so sweet, warm, patient, and really knowledgeable. They explained the why behind each technique, which made the whole experience feel empowering instead of intimidating. I walked out feeling inspired and excited to try more plant-based dishes at home. If you're looking for a class that's approachable, delicious, and actually teaches you skills you'll use, Radical Cooks is the place. Highly recommend! I'm not even vegan/vegetarian and I loved it!!

Rose is the event organizer and everyone met at her house at 10 AM. After a warm reception and a quick introduction, we quickly split into different teams and I was assigned to the Creamy White Bean and Fennel Casserole station. The staff was very helpful and I just simply followed staff's instructions. Everyone pretty much finished the cooking by 12 PM and we were able to enjoy fruits of our labor! *** Menu *** * Roasted Beef Tenderloin and Chicken Stuffed with Mixed Herb Pesto * Arugula Salad with Candied Pine Nuts and Parmesan Dressing * Roasted Broccoli with Pumpkin Seeds, Pecorino and Gremolata * Creamy White Bean and Fennel Casserole * Lemon Souffle Cake with Macerated Mixed Berries Personally I liked arugula salad the best and my least favorite dish was lemon souffle cake (too sweet). Rose even emailed a digital copy of the recipe to everyone the following week! Overall it was a great team building experience and we also did a murder mystery right after our lunch (different company - not related to LA Food Works).

From what we read on the Eagle Rock event we just knew they were serving drinks an appetizers. Since we were hungry and done shopping we made this our final pit stop. We had trouble finding the place, hidden and off set from the road we discovered we walked by it twice. Luckily the Yelp table was out front and I reasoned we must be near the restaurant. We just sort of showed up expecting to stay 15 minutes and ended up staying 3 hours! We were immediately greeted by a lady who got us drinks and welcomed by a chef, whom we learned was an owner. The atmosphere was very zen and chill. The private area looked exactly how I would want my backyard kitchen to look. With a big wood fire oven, a big bar with bar stools and a lot of friendly people to talk to. It took us a while to figure out what this place was, but after tasting sample after sample of delicious food we discovered it was a test kitchen. The owner/ chef sells ovens, bbqs, caters, teaches classes and is just a round about cool, chill guy, who shows his passion for cooking in his big smile. We were lucky to try (for free) eagle rock brew beer, ice tea, and a ton of wood fire food such as sausages, asparagus, all kinds of pizza slices, mozzarella bread, and the tastiest pulled pork sandwich! The food was heavenly. We meet a ton of great people sitting on the bar stools. Hubby and I have always wanted to build a wildfire oven in our backyard and here we stumble upon a place where that is there specialty. When we get around to it we will definitely be calling this place up as their hospitality during the block party was awesome!

And Wildwood, my dear seeker of all things cool, is just that place. They specialize in custom-built wood fired ovens for the ballahs out there with disposable incomes to spend on items that increase property value instead of luxury soaps or clothes or protecting endangered species. They also have a very small selection of grilling accessories that are, as of this review, currently on sale (pizza stones, portable grills for camping, panini grillers, etc.). But, what really makes this place a 5-starer is the swank patio setup they have, complete with outdoor fireplace, bar, grill, and seating. They host private events from time to time and bang out some pretty stellar eats (I had a pulled pork sandwich and flatbread on my particular visit). It's a great way to spend a gorgeous fall day - just chillin' and grillin'. You can also contact them to host your private event which would pretty much make you the most remarkable and genius host ever. I don't know the costs involved or what's included, but I am pretty sure that whatever it does cost, it's totally worth it in the "that was the best get together I've ever been to." comments from guests.

On arrival the parking is on the surrounding streets and since it was the weekend I found parking easily but I can imagine it's harder during a weekday. The building has a large sign so you know which door to go into for The King's Roost. I am still an amateur at making sourdough with my regular sourdough starter and when I saw this offered through Renaissance club who signed me up I was excited to learn what I'm doing wrong. Well, this class didn't teach me about how to make my current breads better, but instead taught me about the world of wheat that I've never really understood and how to make a good wheat bread which actually seems easier to do than my regular starter bread. If you take the class you'll understand the whole gluten thing and reason for needing to knead more with one versus only gentle folds with the other! I follow a girl on Instagram who used a countertop mill to mill einkorn and I always thought that's too much work and I didn't think it's something I could do. In this class I got to see the countertop mills first hand and how easy they are to use, I got to see the differences between the white or red grains and I got to taste the different bread examples fresh out of the oven! Not only that, but we were all given a portion of wheat starter to take home! I am really excited about this because as I'm getting older, proper nutrition without added chemicals and additives is becoming more important to me. Right now the dough we made in class is sitting in a bowl rising and I am just so excited to put it in the oven later and see how my very first wheat bread will come out! I'm also converted and probably will be getting my own countertop mill soon!

I threw a hail mary and booked without having tried the food myself before and prayed that the experience would be wonderful. To say i was satisfied with them would be an understatement. Communication was clear via phone and email and in the course of a couple of hours, she had given me customized menu options within my budget as well as vegan restrictions -- all while i multitasked at work! On the day of the event, her staff arrived promptly at the discussed time and had the food prepared and set up nicely. Everything was beyond expectations and i was complimented all night at how good the food was. Bonus: they are a zero waste company and also used biodegradable eco-friendly utensils! a company after my own heart. I will definitely book them for future events and recommend them to anyone looking for amazing food and great service with a sustainable mindset!

A criteria we had when searching for a caterer was having a family style option so that our guests had a chance to eat multiple items/dishes. We knew we didn't want each person to just get one plate of food with a single protein choice; we wanted a feast! After finding Taste of Pace through some online research, we scheduled a tasting, which completely blew us away! Pace had us come to a loft where she cooked all of the dishes as we sat, ate, drank, listened to lovely Italian dinner music, and chatted with Brooke to go over the menu options. We instantly booked with them after. They also helped with the open bars we had at the wedding, so the food, the alcohol, the staff were seamless and amazing. We keep getting comments on how delicious the cocktail hour appetizers and dinner platters were. For cocktail hour, we had a charcuterie station, hamachi crudo, risotto cakes, and hangar steak. For dinner, we had an heirloom lettuce salad, braised short ribs, salmon, fingerling potatoes, and seasonal veggies w/ burrata. I was definitely not one of those brides that don't get to eat a bite of their food at their wedding. Oh, I sat and ate my ENTIRE plate of food! My favorite thing about Taste of Pace is that they are a zero waste catering company and they use every part of their ingredients. It's so amazing!
