This place has a lot of stuff, A LOT A LOT. Racks and Racks of clothes, which are organized by color, but the sizes are random. They have shelves and shelves of shoes, above the racks and racks of clothes, but most of the shoes look worn and dirty. I don't think its a good idea to buy shoes here...well depending on the appearance. They have a lot of random beauty items hanging in clear bags on hooks, within the bags are bottles of lotions, perfumes, and nail polishes that are half empty...or half full =p They have a lot of everything, old cameras, dvds, stuff for the kitchen, and a place where you can test appliances. They have a mini sports corner in the back, and a wide selection of jewelry. I suggest you come here when you have free time or time to kill, you jst might find some hidden treasures... read more

This place is where I grew up as a kid with little money, but I still shop here now with more money because it saves you so much. Despite the already low prices for a thrift store, this place has percentage discounts depending on the colored tag attached, which lets you save even more. The items are 80% of the time in presentable condition, with only a few being wrinkled up, too stained up, old, and etc. While I do say the clothing is the best part about this thrift shop, the other items are good as well; however, it can be very dusty back there. From the times I've been here, it's been good and I've never had a bad experience. Other customers that come here are nice and like to talk about EcoThrift, too. Given my addiction to vintage and guilty of an obsessive quest to find that elusive, rare, highly-valuable mid-century artifact to add to my collection, I go to a s**t-ton of thrift stores. I mean I spend a looooot of time thrift shopping - more than is probably healthy. So, given that Eco Thrift is on my route when heading to visit family, it's a regular stopover for me. Years ago, when I was an angst-ridden '80s teen struggling to express my individuality, I would visit Eco-thrift in it's previous incarnation - The Value Center - to score vintage duds prior to that Depeche Mode or Frankie Goes To Hollywood concert. 35 years later, in a new location and renamed, I go scouting out vintage Dansk cookware, 60s East German pottery and ironic folk art from the Kennedy administration. The first thing you might notice upon rolling into the parking lot is how packed it is. I mean, we're talking Black-Friday packed. Regularly. Eco-thrift has an avid and loyal following and no matter what time of day or day of the week, it's bustling with busy customers filling their carts. Entering the large, square, warehouse-like store, you'll notice that the lion's share of floorspace is dedicated to apparel. I imagine it's a big seller as a great percentage of the shoppers have carts that are spilling over with fashions of all sizes, shapes, conditions and eras. If it's apparel you're looking for, I suspect you'll leave with a few sartorial treasures to add to your collection. I typically make a bee-line to the "boutique" counter - a fully staffed section of the store that holds what might be deemed as higher-value goods - which are either displayed in glass cases (as is the case with jewelry, belt buckles, fancy pens, hunting knives, etc.) or propped behind the counter atop a series of shelves. China, stemware, art glass, Lladro figurines, travel souvenirs, paintings, collectible comic books, carved wood sculpture, boxed Barbie dolls...you get the picture. Typically, you'll find a layer or two of furtive shoppers crowing the area, whose eyes dart between the array of "premium" goods to busy mobile phones, presumably researching selling costs on EBay or Etsy in hopes of scoring that big, money-making steal. I've been moderately lucky over time - scoring vintage pottery from my favorite Italian ceramic brand and Blenko art glass. It's a crap shoot, but if you find something you are even moderately interested in, grab it as it will likely not be there tomorrow. The big plus with Eco Thrift is promotional schedule - there's a sale of some sort every day. And some days, that sale is reaaaalll gooooood. Each item reflects a color-coded price tag and every three days, the store randomly selects three colors to be discounted. Color 1 = 25% off ticketed price, Color 2 = 50% and Color 3 = 75%. So if you score a treasure marked with the color equating to 75% off, then you are whistling dixie and skipping to your lou. Day 2, Color 1 = 50% off, Color 2 = 75% and new Color 3 = 25% off. It's a rotating system, and the sale colors are clearly displayed on signage in the store. It sounds confusing, but once you're there, it'll all come together. I also usually breeze by the media section, trying to score vintage vinyl or maybe a rare DVD or two, then hit housewares (where I once found a vintage Heath dutch oven for a few bucks) and then peruse the artwork lining the walls. If you're looking for furniture or case goods (like sofas or china cabinets , then this location is probably not the best option for you. The store has a small shed attached to it and I've rarely found more than a few side tables and a random office chair available for purchase. All in all worth a stop if you're in the greater Solano or Napa County area - however, depending upon what you're looking for. If you're a vintage reseller, don't expect too much. read more

This place used to have good prices, but I went yesterday and I couldn't believe how EXPENSIVE it is now!!! Unbelievable! There were tops that were priced at $3 on the Walmart tag and $15 on the ecothrift tag. Totally outrageous. They kept saying it was a "yellow tag Day" over the loudspeaker but yellow tags weren't on sale? Doesn't make any sense. I loved this location in the Hayward area so I decided to give this spot a try. I will say I do love the Hayward location or because their selection is a little more higher end however I found some great deals at this location as well. All the girls like their other stores are organized by size and sometimes even color. Their shoes are organized by color and also type of shoe. It's nice when the store is so big that you don't need to feel like you need to go down each aisle because it's organized by size. I left there was some great vintage Levi jeans that I will definitely be rocking. They also have a larger selection of jewelry at this location and they were location so if that is something that you look for when you go Thrifting then I definitely recommend the spot. Ecothrift is my personal treasure chest. I can't begin to tell you all of the rad things I've scored. The sheer size of the inventory puts the odds in my favor! The racks are well organized by size (instead of Goodwill's by-color which doesn't make sense to me) and the system of discounted tags ensures new things are always coming in. What a hot mess this place is. Not sure what their employees are supposed to do, but straightening and organizing would not be high on the list. Better to just put everything in a big pile and let the customers dive into it. I could deal with the mess if the prices were dirt cheap, they are not. I'm also not sure what charities I'm helping here, as it's not clear. Well run thrifts like the ones for hospice or specific diseases are always the best. Assistance League is always great as well. I found a dress that would normally cost $10 - $20 (between DD's & Ross Store Prices) for a whopping $60.00. I could not believe it. Great stuff here. Over priced then a mofo and the staff be racial profiling like you wouldn't believe. Askin me to check what I rang up. Hovering over me while I'm ringing out. Not just me but my whole family have been shopping here for well over 15 years. Even before it was called eco thrift when it was called the family value center. And I don't mind other people speaking in their native tongue but when you're so busy joking and laughing that you're missing a customer who needs help it becomes exclusionary, unprofessional and inappropriate. There is an older Filipino gentleman, who constantly hover over me every time I go in there stands next to me and speaks Tagalog to his coworkers and then when I walk out never says goodbye or thank you. One time, he even tried to say I didn't scan some thing, but, when he went to go scan The item (because he wanted to check) The computer said error because that item had already been scanned. It makes me feel super uncomfortable and it sucks because this is my favorite thrift store and I've been supporting it for so many years. The security guard who is black is very nice to me and always says hello and goodbye. Can't say much for the other people that work there. They asked me for a bag when I'm checkin out Look at all the things that I'm scanning and then hover. Or Follow me sometimes or watch me in the store. As culturally diverse as Vallejo is this is a very disappointing and sad experience. It bums me out to even write this but I'd rather people know about it and they do something about it versus it keep going, nothing gets done and more people get treated this way. I also understand that theft is a real thing and people are desperate Especially during this pandemic. But, I literally come in there every other week and drop dollars ... big ones ... because I do a lot of my Bases there for costuming. I found a few, but the one that looked the best (and that's saying a lot) was $9.98!!! $9.98 for a used, dirty 60 inch sheer panel????? They are crazy. I found one at Target....brand new for $6.99. I just came here because the other thrift store I prefer to go to didn't have white panels but even their other colored panels and drapes were $2 -$3! How have I never reviewed this place? Gosh I've been coming here since I was a child back when it was Value Center by Mervyns. Back when price tags were handwritten by what seemed to be the same person. I still love this place and always come here when I visit my parents in Vallejo. The thrift gods are usually always on my side when I come here and provide me with almost whatever I'm searching for in that moment. My only gripe is that the prices have gone up significantly higher since thrifting became a trend. I get it, you can price things by researching it's value on the internet but sometimes they completely miss the mark! Like I remember finding this one Forever 21 or H&M piece that I remember was in clearance for twice as much as it was originally worth! They definitely over price familiar brands. Not going to lie though, they also sometimes miss the mark in a good way.. They had these barely used Rock and Republic sandals for $4 which is way lower than what it's worth. You just have to DIG. This place is not color coordinated which I actually don't mind because I feel more accomplished when I find good pieces by digging through everything rather than "trending colors". Last year I committed to shopping less at manufactured big box stores and incorporating more recycled items into my life. This store has always been my go-to and rarely lets me down with what I need. +1 star for moving the sale date to Sunday's! Super excited about that! read more

I found some clothing over price & shoes. However, I did find some Ralph Lauren clothing for boys. I will deffinetly be back soon! I was 'slumming' it at Value Center back when it opened in the 90's (formerly a Standard Brands Paint Store). A regular part of my 'thrift-flea-garage-sale' circuit, It USED to be a truly awesome source for cheap stuff, both old and new. Well, they're still big, still somewhat varied in what they get, but either the management or sources changed, because their 'cool old stuff' quotient has dropped sharply in the past 5-6 years. As if that weren't bad enough, something far more sinister has transpired under overbright flourescents and earbleed music they play... The Prices. Crack Prices, if I may wax scientific. They've adopted a 'we're going to demand insane top dollar for anything remotely valuable looking' policy and have actually resorted to printing out eBay auctions to tape to some items! --Yes, really. This 'Thriftflation' isn't limited to the behind the counter antiques and gadgets, either. An oddly large variety of items seem to start at $14.98, even a cheap generic camping lantern or someone's old, filthy Norelco. Indescribable chunk of brown plastic? $14.98. And the actual stuff people might want, like an office chair or older printer? Forget it. I've seen things here priced OVER their original retail price tags (which are sometimes still conveniently stuck to the item). These people couldn't care less. They mark these nosebleed prices down when things don't sell, but that has given rise to a Zombie Horde of hobo-stinky 'regulars' hunting down the recently marked-down stuff at the crack of 9am with depressing regularity. The briefcase-sized 80's laptop that caught your eye last week but too rich for your blood at $49.99? Well, today it was marked down to a palm-sweating $29.99 but - NO! It's already been swept into the cart of a muttering old creepster in poly slacks. I used to find old 80's vintage electronic games at Value Center. Remember the tabletop Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and so forth? These usually fetch $40-60 on eBay in unboxed, decent working condition. Used to pay two, maybe five bucks a pop when they did crop up at this place. About three years back, I saw one up on the shelf behind the counter with a bold $75.00 sticker on it -- the thing was broken nearly in half! Wasn't worth even ten bucks. I mentioned this to the ogreish... Let's call her a 'saleslady'. I was tersely informed that 'prices go down every day' and that there was to be no bartering (or reasoning). Whoever is in charge of pricing/sorting at Value Center needs to put down the hard drugs and slowly back away from The Pricing Crayon. Braving the bawling toddlers and shopping cart gauntlet of the clothing aisles has become so much less worthwhile, mainly due to these delusional prices. Perhaps someone needs to write a letter, in big bold letters and conservative use of syllables, that no, a magical transcendence has not taken place and it's not OK for a thift store to charge higher-than-eBay (or retail) prices on things they really don't have a clue about like comics, old toys, paintings, stereos, etc. Why two whole stars? Well, for several years Value Center was a thrift mecca and I'm giving credit for fond memories. And yes, if you go often there are still a few scant deals to be had, but for now I'm calling this place 'Over-Valued Center' until they knock off the bizarro-prices. This WAS my favorite store in Vallejo I would leave with steals especially in kids clothing, adult clothing. Before, you would get a discount even just a small one it would make you feel like your getting a good deal. As of recently maybe past 6-9months or so the prices have been down right OUTRAGEOUS. Just because something is a certain brand or has tags doesn't mean you can charge $10,$25,or even $60 for a piece of clothing. I've been coming here for years. Back in the day it was known as Value Center. Even more years back, it was located right across from the now hecka defunct Mervyn's. Funny how a retail store could close but a place that sells USED CLOTHES still functions until this very day. I know I know, when a thrift shop comes to mind, you're probably thinking of junky clothes that no one wants. Well, you're right... about 40% right. Yeah, there's some really janky stuff here for sure. And then sometimes, when you see some crazy stains on some of the stuff, you get to seeing some crazy scenarios in your head and the next thing you know you're running out of there. But be of good courage! If you can brave some of the less than desirable items, you'll find some good pick-ups. Man, even today, they were selling 2 Weber grills in great condition. I've gotten suits, shirts, polos, and even shorts from this place. On more than one occasion, I've scored some sweet Dockers khakis. The diligent and ever-persistent thrift store browser will always be rewarded. I know this for a fact. You're sure to find something you like here. Or maybe, somethings, as in plural. My absolute favorite thrift store EVER! The staff is quirky and helplfull. When I do find things in my size they are always amazing! Sometimes the pricing isn't consistent and then sometimes the price is extra low with the various sales! I've found 100% cashmere sweaters, eileen fisher items, 100% silk dresses/shirts, lots of designer brands. All the items are sorted by size and item so if you just need jeans then just head to your size. i would say that it's best to just plan to spend an afternoon here to really savor the experience. read more

If I were able to give this place 0 stars, I would. First of all, the prices are awful. Some things are fairly priced, while some are over retail. I found some cool motorcycle pants and bought them, then headed home to Fairfield. Motorcycle pants, being thick and multicolored, make for a very easy opportunity to miss a security tag. I saw the security device (which did NOT beep when I walked out of the door) and sighed. I called the store and the woman I talked to asked if I had my receipt. I said no, but offered to bring in a printout of my bank statement. She said I would have to talk to a supervisor, and I asked her to transfer me (I didn't want to drive 30 minutes just for a supervisor to say no.) She laughed, said that I should have kept my receipt, said "you're welcome" in the rudest tone I've ever heard (comparable to Sadie from Awkward.) and then HUNG UP ON ME. By the way, all you have to do to take the security devices off is put a screwdriver in between the two pieces of plastic and twist. That information isn't for thieves, just for people who purchased an item and had an inept cashier who didn't take the tag off.
