W Pico is a busy street but what saves it is Eco Catering. Food wise the chicken and waffles is the star. Yes they have mini beef sliders and mushroom taquitos but when all your guests go hmmmm that food presented us the star. Our office ordered from Eco Caters for the first time this past Monday. I was able to sample some of their Asian fusion selections, which included vietnamese chicken salad, bok choy, vegetarian fried rice, and a organic spring mix salad. I have to say that the food here is a refreshing departure from Americanized Chinese food which I find to be typically overly greasy and over-salted. In particular, even though the bok choy is grilled rather than stir fried, flavor is still abundant with the right amount of seasoning. Their vietnamese chicken salad is surprisingly very generous in the protein portion size. Spring mix is very fresh and listed as source from a local farmer's market, hence living up to their name as an eco-friendly food service organization. If I could give this place lady and chef 0 stars I would! I worked an event after culinary school to get my feet wet. Arrived on time and was treated very poorly! The chef was rude the staff was rude. I tried talking to the owner after the event and she wouldn't speak to me. I emailed her how uncomfortable I felt and she was very rude and mean. After the event the whole staff including the servers wouldn't look my way. This was a terrible experience for an intern on her first job as after culinary school. I hope they fired that chef his staff and changed their attitude since. Traveling to LA for an event was an experience but the experience I had was awful! read more

To me, 5 stars means that nothing could have been better. From the get-go, Christine was responsive, attentive, and flexible, even before we had approved her proposal. Our event was for almost 100 guests, leaders from all across the country, in a mostly outdoor space. The caliber of food had to be high and the logistics were slightly complicated. However, Christine professionally and adroitly adapted to these challenges throughout the planning process and the event. Christine met with the venue a week before and set up the day before, to get ahead of any logistical considerations. When new challenges with the space arose, she fixed them promptly. Not only that, the guests were very impressed with the quality of the food and the display. I was impressed with how little thought I had to give to the catering logistics once I booked the event. Compared to other bids, Eco Caters was more expensive but high quality and professionalism came along with it, making the pricetag worth it. I cannot recommend Eco Caters enough! They catered a statewide meeting that we had in Santa Monica with about 200 people for lunch for two days. Both of the staff that came were friendly and professional. The food was so fresh, delicious, and flavorful. They offered several very wonderful vegetarian and vegan options. The chicken on both days was perfectly cooked and so full of flavor. I really liked the food the first day but was blown away the second day! I got nothing but compliments from attendees saying how much they loved the food. I saw so many clean plates. We went with the chef's choice option for both days and didn't know the menu until a few days before the event and I was not disappointed. The first day we had: grilled chicken with herbs and lemon, roasted vegetarian pasta with parsley, roasted cauliflower, mirepoix quinoa, farmer's market salad with house-made vinaigrette. The second day we had roasted chicken with white wine sauce and chive, spaghetti squash with vegetable ragu, grilled carrots, farro, farmer's Market Salad with House-made Vinaigrette. Could not have been happier with my experience with Eco Caters. As a vegan who was planning a wedding for over 200 non-vegans, I was really torn between pleasing my guests and adhering to my ethics. Eco Caters executed the wedding of my dreams that pleased my guests with food I felt proud to serve. I should start out my saying that we had originally hired - and paid for - another cater who assured us a vegan wedding was no problem. When we did the tasting 6 weeks before the wedding we were horrified as it was the hands down worst food I have ever tasted in my life. This is from a yelp 5-star cater. I called and got quotes from a bunch of caters and the entire process was so stressful a few weeks out from the wedding. But it was Eco Cater to the rescue! In a matter of weeks, we were able to plan the wedding menu of my dreams! They were so professional from initial phone call to final execution. Our tasting was AMAZING!!!! 100% organic and mostly vegan (we ended up serving a grass fed local cheese plate and a line-caught sustainable fish option at my dad - who was paying for the wedding - request). I felt so good about the quality of the food - you could taste the difference - and the love with which it was prepared. The presentation was beautiful as well!!! Wow. There are no words to describe how amazing Eco Caters is. We just had our wedding in August and Eco Caters was the easiest and one of my favorite vendors to work with. I'm so happy with their service and of course, food. Eco Caters provided the best wedding food I've ever had, and I'm not being biased. All our guests were raving about how delicious the food was. Even my parents, who are the biggest critics in food. We decided to go with the short rib and salmon and wow, they were cooked perfectly. The short rib fat was like gravy and you didn't even need a knife to dig in. The salmon was so tasty too and not dry and overcooked like most places. I was so excited that I had leftovers to take home after the wedding. Still tasted amazing the day after! Many were also saying the appetizers were amazing and they ate too many and were so full after the entree that they barely had space for our late night snack of In-N-Out! The staff were very attentive as well and greeted all my guests with a smile. More importantly, Lauren, the operations director, was sooo patient and charismatic and answered all my questions throughout the process. She was such a delight to work with and had such a positive attitude. Eco Caters was overall such a smart group to work with -- they strategically planned the layout of our dessert table and did not toss our uneaten food. I've heard too many brides and grooms complain they weren't able to eat any food because they get cleaned up and the servers specifically brought us appetizers, snacks, desserts, drinks, etc. to us to make sure we were fed! We were referred to Eco Caters by the Spork Foods (Vegan cooking class people), as we wanted to make our wedding food all vegan affair. We contacted them via email, did the menu tasting in their Culver City kitchen to determine the final menu, then we took it from there. On the day of the event, they supplied 8 servers to execute and service our smallish wedding (45 guests) perfectly. Lauren and team assembled the most beautiful woodland wedding for one of my close friends. An already beautiful venue was made even more so with whimsical and rustic details - succulent terrariums, string lights, and a hand-crafted wooden archway where the bride and groom said their vows. And the food was amazing! Mashed potatoes, sauteed kale, chicken, steak, Mexican street corn, and deconstructed peach cobbler for dessert (instead of the traditional wedding cake.) So good. In a sea of caterers in LA, we looked at Eco because a) We like that they are eco-friendly b) They were very quick to answer and VERY charming c) we liked that their menu was expansive. We have a somewhat strict budget for our wedding. After speaking with their rep on the phone twice and through dozens of emails, she kept telling us 'oh don't worry we can make your budget work' when I asked for ballpark quotes. She just wouldn't give them to us. And i couldn't find pricing anywhere on their website. 'We want you to try our food and love our flavor profiles' and 'budget is not a problem.' Sketchy... But she was VERY nice... So OK let's roll with it. Maybe they are flexible. We scheduled a meeting and tasted the food. Chef was very nice. Food was 8/10. Their pork belly bun was next level. After what feels like 60 emails, 4 phone calls, and $90 for a tasting for two people she finally sent us an invoice for selected food. DOUBLE what we told her our price range was. A complete and utter shock. A non-starter. Total waste of time and effort. Even moving some things around it was 50% above our budget. Goodbye. If they were upfront about pricing in the beginning, and especially after I asked three times, I wouldn't be writing this. But here I am pissed off at this colossal waste of time and effort, which could have been mitigated by even the slightest bit of transparency. read more

I recently worked with Eco Caters on an influencer event for my company. Coming from out of state (Michigan), Eco Caters, in particular, Stacy, was very accommodating and knowledgable. Let me first begin by stating that hiring Eco Caters for my wedding was the best and easiest decision I ever made - second to marrying my husband. Christine is an absolute gem and I was lucky enough to work with her directly as I planned my own wedding. Doing it myself with little event planning knowledge, Christine and the entire Eco Caters team went above and beyond to help me every step of the way. They were honest, transparent and realistic in offering suggestions to me about how I could save money, and they guided me to make the best decisions for our wedding day. The level of service is just phenomenal. Christine was punctual in our phone meetings and always quick to respond to my emails. She worked to help me create a unique package that fit my very tight budget and then facilitated everything from service staff, bartenders and rentals. Chef Rob even created unique cocktail recipes for our "His and Hers" bar menu. Christine helped me order all the ice for our event and even brought serving platters and plated our desserts beautifully, even though we brought our own desserts. Most importantly, the food is DAMN DELICIOUS. Chef Rob is a genius! Our guests said it was some of the best food they'd ever had at a wedding, and also just in life - especially the vegetarian jackfruit taco. I love that their recipes are created by shopping seasonally at the farmer's market, so you know everything is fresh and organic. I really can't applaud or recommend Eco Caters enough. They are the best value of any caterer in Southern California (you can bet I got 10+ other quotes) and their food and service are just more than I feel I truly deserved. They were easy to get a hold of---and were great at recommending things that not only would work great for our event, but also stayed within our budget. The food....was AMAZING. We had over 30 women and each one was in heaven. We had quite a few meat eaters---but none even noticed that it was all vegetarian. Eco Caters did my wedding at Smog Shoppe in August 2014 and they were amazing! They were such an integral part of the whole planning process because of course so much of the wedding revolves around food. But aside from that, they also coordinated our furniture and reception rentals. It was helpful having Eco do this and not dealing with the rental company directly. I would just tell them what I wanted or any changes and they would do the rest. Eco also handled setting up so much of the wedding, moving around a giant photo wall we had made, and making sure the wedding was flowing properly. They also provided the bartenders and gave us some signature cocktail ideas. For the food, it was so good! Many guest told us it was some of the best wedding food they've had. They really helped us customize the menu and were accommodating when I decided to change a few things the week before. They also made sure myself and the groom had food at the wedding and brought us special plates of everything. We also wanted some cocktails and food to be served before the wedding to guests and they were willing to do that and were very helpful. The only thing we were apprehensive about is a few months before the wedding, the person we had been working closely with at Eco left, so we got a new person and then had to do another in-person meeting to make sure everything we had planned was still good to go. We were worried this would be an issue, but everything turned out just fine and overall we were really pleased with Eco and the wedding. Emily was incredible taking over the catering within just days of the wedding after an unforeseen issue, making sure everything was taken care of quickly and accurately. Her and her team were professional, timely and ready for anything. Cat was the banquet captain for the day and she was so sweet and fun, did an great job adjusting to a fluid timeline and jumped in to help where she didn't have to.
