Yesterday my girlfriend and I visited your restaurant. We were wishing for a nice night out, for our Valentine's Day dinner. We experienced homophobia, and racism. From the start, I sensed an uncomfortable vibe in the resturaunt. The people who were sitting in front of us ( 2 couples, which we sensed were perhaps the owner or someone of VIP status because they were communicating with the employees quite a bit as though they worked for them) kept staring at me, but didn't say anything. When we were finished with dinner, they decided to make a comment. My girlfriend and I were simply leaning on each other. They said "what you two are doing is not okay"(commenting on us being gay), continuing by telling me (Canadian born, Bengali), that "I should go back to India". It was absolutely rude and hurtful, and made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable. They continued to make more inappropriate comments. In this situation we would have imagined that the waiters would support our safety. But rather, the older man with grey hair(waitor) decided to talk with us and tell us that we need to leave, and stop making a scene. It was clear he was standing up for them, didn't care about us at all. It was clear they were of "higher status", that they were homophobic and racist. The food was just decent, and the experience was the worst I've ever had. read more
