I have to admit it took 5 minutes to actually find Chases Kitchen, it was kinda low key, there was…read moreno logo or anything big but we found it in the end. In the end we found a table and the waiter came straight away, he was very friendly and didn't mind that my mum didn't want dry fruit in her fruit salad. After a small chat the food came in, we were both surprised how quickly it was. I ordered the Boston Burger which was amazing and it came with plenty of chips and it filled me up really easily. The bread is really soft and the chips were very tasty! My mum enjoyed her fruit salad and was very happy with the restaurant (which can be very difficult). All in all I would 100% recommend going to this place, with friendly staff and amazing food what else is there to want?

The bread is specially soft and they come with thin crunchy fries. If you don't have much time on lunch break (like myself), called them to order in advance and their friendly staff will prepare a special table for you and everything. Looking for brekkie? They've got 'em all. I usually randomly ask them to prepare me some scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms, tomato and spinach. The result is better than expected. Try their Benedict eggs as well. All worth it. Lovely and friendly staff! Nice background music!

Actually, that tea was honestly pretty bad, and not only that, it was quite pricey as well. Though while this place did look nice, and had a nice, quiet, atmosphere about it, the tea really makes me not want to return.

Perhaps it's the fact that you have to drive to whoop whoop... Perhaps it's the fact that after driving to whoop whoop you still have to wait ages, but the Duchess did not impress me then. Fast forward to today, I had to go to the Scienceworks and it's in Spotswood, so I decided to give The Duchess another go. Now it's obviously a weekday plus it's probably just after lunch hr so it's less busy. They were able to accommodate two prams and was super friendly and efficient about it which is a big tick for me at this point in my life! Food ordering is a bit slow to be honest. We ordered our drinks and waited and waited and no one came to take our order! We finally had to flag someone down and THEN they told us there are specials! Not sure if they just didn't want to overwhelm us and let us settle down but I felt the service need to be a bit more efficient. Anyway so I ordered the special which is the soft shell crab w pork belly on a brioche. It was amazing!! They managed to cut the fattiness of this whole combo with fresh coriander and zesty mayo. I am not a fan of Scienceworks but I will come back for The Duchess!

Picture this, Newport 2012... the best beer hall within city limits?!? Yeah, I was sceptical at…read morefirst, being invited by a friend to sample this untested find. However I was wrong in my miscast aspersions. Sorry friend. This place is a secret that needs to be let out! The Junction Hotel Newport has been reimaged in a major way. The venue now sports a micro beer hall and a separate wine room, both featuring gourmet grazing plates that will leave your taste buds satisfied and wallet full :-). As for the beer hall, there is a lot to distinguish this place from other venues that wear the "indie" beer badge of honour. I like the beer tasting paddle for example. Choose any four beers to sample and have them placed on a wooden paddle for your drinking convenience. $12 is all this will set you back. There is much boutique beer choice here too, from Beechworth to the Mornington Peninsula and far abroad. After food? Well, it is delish Trish! While the mains look great, I tried ordering my way through the smaller dishes, tapas style. Every morsel made for great conversation and admiration. Try the hand cut chips served out of a paper bag, or the grilled Kransky with pickled red cabagge, Polish style. Ribs, deep fried chickpeas etc, etc. Serving sizes are ample. The crowd (until word gets out ;-) ) is the local friendly crew. But be warned, every table was full. Worth a visit and, if your not local, a premeditated excursion! I will be back, the adjacent wine room is next on the list.

The west has a new home of great beer, wine & service. Great beers ( tap = 2 Birds, Bridge Rd,…read moreBoatrocker. Bottle= Trumer Pils, Mt Goat rare breed) The wine bar has a fantastic selection of interesting glasses/bottles. With outstanding service throughout.

So there was a point in time that I was stuck in an area/ had to go to a certain place that was…read morereally close to the Pier 35 Bar and Grill. I'm actually kinda surprised this place doesn't have a single review. They have a lot of reviews on Facebook... and now I'm wondering if I'm leaving a review in the wrong place. I can't find it elsewhere, so obligatory /*THIS REVIEW IS FOR PIER 35 BAR AND GRILL */ Hope this is in the right spot. So the first day we had been in the restaurant a few metres over and we realized that people were eating over here as well (we thought it was empty!) So the next day , we went in. They have a lunch menu for $14, available 7 days a week 11:30am- 3:30pm. For $14AUD, that is an amazing price (with some being $16.50) Like, we had to go around and get burgers with meals at around that price, but this place was for Aussie-italian mixed things. Those things don't come too cheap! Anyways, these are the things I tried: Seafood spaghetti with market fresh seafood, garlic, chilli, white wine and basil ($16.50AUD). It was a white wine reduction that totally accentuated the dish to a better level~ They have a few pieces of mussels, shrimp, and 1 other type that I think is cuttlefish? The sauce here which looks nonexistent is actually really light and actually comes with a little spice (yeah, it says chilli but I totally did not catch that when I was ordering it). Totally get this if you like seafood or white sauce spaghetti! 8.5/10 Chicken and mushroom risotto, baby spinach, sun dried tomatoes finished w/ parmesan and truffle oil ($16.50AUD). Mhm. So I'm not really one for risotto but this risotto impressed my boss, so I had to try it! They have a great water to rice ratio, in which the water is not soupy but more of a concentrated sauce with the rice. You like high end? Parmesan and truffle oil man. Their chicken is lacking a bit of flavor but that's the only complaint I have here :P (7/10) Penne pasta, sautéed veggies, chilli, garlic tossed in Napoli and white wine sauce finished with parmesan cheese ($14AUD). One regret is that I didn't try their fries, but it was $9 They also have tapas here, which you can get a selection of 5 items for $39.5AUD. You can get Hikkaido scallops, Moreton Bay Bugs (baby lobster), king prawns, calamari, and a couple of other things. They are so delish. I am not kidding. On the third day, I saw a group get 10 of these. Like if I had the luxury to do it, I would have tried these. This would have been of them "authentic Australian things" that people get to try. I did have a few pieces from my boss cuz my boss did so on the last day. He loved it. It doesn't look filling at all though, but he said he was content. I dunno. They also have an open mic night where people sing on Sunday. Nice live entertainment. Service ranges. On the second time, the waitress was really good in knowing we was American and taught us that it was "a jug of water" after we requested a pitcher of water because we needed a lot of water. Aussies do "jug", we do "pitcher". Anywho sometimes you will have to wait a bit too because this place is really popular. They also have a "outdoor" view section in which you can see Pier 35 and the Bay. I don't know how so many people find this place tho lol. Cuz the road leading to it doesn't look like many cars travel on it (Lorimer St)... but somehow they have a good amount of people here! Also OPEN WEEKENDS! Our savior haha. Because a lot of places close in Australia on weekends, we found out ):

There is virtually nothing in the surrounds! Just boats, dark roads and refineries with smoke belllowing out across a nice stretch of water in the background!! Haha As for the food? I love it. The steak was spot on and nicely chargrilled! Simple juicy and on a bed of buttery mash!! Yum!! Not even the renowned steak houses can get to this! Okok it's on par then ;) I think if not for the location this place would do very well. For a Friday night it deserves more patronage!
