I am currently in dispute with Eaton's over their charges.
What they do not tell you when you start out with them is that their hourly rate 'guide price' is £240 per hour, that aside once you agree to use them their guide price becomes an actual hourly cost which is invoiced and cannot be negotiated or reduced, you have to pay it. However, what they also do is bill you for every single email and correspondence they send, no matter how small or how trivial.
In my case, they billed me for emails they sent saying, "please see attachment", when there is no attachment you have to email back saying the attachment is missing and guess what you get BILLED. COST FOR THIS £80.
I have been charged when they have written a letter for me to authorise. Charged when I have replied to their email authorising it to be sent and charged again for chasing them up after not hearing anything for 2 weeks! I have also been charged for their reply advising me that they never received my email as they have had problems with their system. This email cost me £40.
Having looked back at the emails sent, I have been billed no matter how short the emails are. I have been billed for emails that are only a few lines and in one instance only 2 words long. Cost is £10.00 for every email sent.
I would not recommend Eatons solicitors to anyone. I switched solicitors to one of the large law firms in Leeds, and was charged £140 per hour and I was not charged for every single email sent. Stay away from Eatons unless you really have money to burn.
Where has common sense gone? This seems nothing more than sharp practice, praying on people when they are at their lowest and most vulnerable, following separation!! read more
